I absolutely love these books and I always try and read the new additions to the series. I really enjoyed seeing familiar faces but also learning about so many girls and their achievements in other countries! Also the illustrations are absolutely beautiful and I really like that each person had a different illustrator.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!
This gorgeously illustrated book features the stories of girls (and women who started their activism, sports, etc. as girls) doing amazing things - everything from climate activism to upside-down archery to inventing. It's very cute and would make a great gift for a young girl.
I love reading these books with my daughter. I think they are inspiring and teach little girls that they aren’t limited in what they can do, the world is theirs. We enjoyed this book and learning about new and inspiring women and also catching up with some we already knew
An inspiring book filled with inspiring women - beautifully written and illustrated!
I really enjoyed reading this and always love their collection. 4✨
Good night stories for rebel girls 100 inspiring young changemakers. This is the 5th rebel girls story and like previous books great illustrations and clear text. Featuring great women like Billie Ellish and Jojo. Young girls and teenagers will love this book.
I love this book ! Although there are a few “famous” young ladies featured in the book. I loved the fact that so many of these ladies are not so well known but still achieving a,axing things .
And as always, the illustrations are amazing !
I LOVE this book! I've used a few of the prior installments of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls and this one is a wonderful addition to the series.
This book features a wide variety of daring women including Eileen Gu, Lucia Montenegro, AJ Clementine, Helena Gualinga and many, many more. Every story worthy and amazing and important for our children to hear about.
Each woman has a gorgeous illustrated photo by various artists (all credited on the page, yay). This creates variety and personality for each photo and I just adored the pictures just as much as reading about these fascinating human beings.
I highly recommend this book for any child, it doesn't have to be only our girls that learn about important women. Perfect for the classroom, homeschooling room, or home library. I see my daughter's eyes light up when reading about what these real women have accomplished. It's attainable to her on another level seeing books like this.
Many fantastic girls in this book! To be honest a lot of the names where unknown to me, but I have been googling many of the girls to learn even more about them. Although the introduction speaks of many different countries, still most of the girls are from the USA. In that regard, I am not sure if it is a true representative of young and inspiring change makers from around the world, but it gives you at least a lot of inspiring stories for both girls and boys to listen before bedtime.
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers is the fifth installment of the Rebel Girls series, and this one focuses on girls and young women who are making a difference in the world. This book was written, edited, and illustrated by those under 30 as well!
This book lives up well to the rest of the series. What a great way to inspire girls and let them know that their age doesn’t have to stop them from their goals! I recommend this for the girls in your life.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book.
This is a collection of 100 women/girls and their changes and the big things they accomplished. The list is quite diverse which I appreciate, and it tackles women/girls of different ages, but in this one I mostly noticed younger people being mentioned. The accompanying portraits are nice, but some of them were quite blurry, now I know I have an ARC so that may change but it was odd. I don't know if I'll read any more books from Rebel Girls although I know I will still get pre-approved because I just don't get them. What about women's biographies excite and motivate kids, as they're kinda boring? I know the mission is to inspire girls to do great things, but I'm not sure they'll really pay attention to all the stories and get them you know?! Unless it's meant for tweens/teens but the color palette and style is very childish I don't know...
Another inspiring addition to the Rebel Girls collection! Just as in previous compilations, this story collection is full of one page mini biographies and an accompanying colorful portrait. Whereas in previous installments those featured tended to be older, historical, or famous, this collection consists of a new generation of change makers that are actively inspiring change. Readers will enjoy what is always to be found in a Rebel Girls volume: beautiful illustrations, inclusivity, and diversity. Readers will see themselves reflected in this Goodnight Stories volume full of young Rebel Girls actively changing our world for the better.
I loved reading my daughter the stories from the first Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls book and this new edition was no different! There were many notable names in this book, including Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, but there were a lot of girls that we'd never heard of who were super inspiring. This is such a great series for young girls, especially when there's so much junk out there that they're exposed to!
This is an incredible set of biographies. Instead of the usual, seemingly unattainable stories of women making history (mostly celebrities, rich people, and pioneers), these are stories of young women who feel more like us than those we read in regular history books. It makes making change seem more possible, as these are people who are introduced in such a relatable way--and there are so many of them! I think many young people are going to find that they could make it into this sort of book too, that this will give them the confidence and perspective to see that great change is made by ordinary people and a great many ordinary people.
I also really appreciate that every page of art is by a different illustrator. It's another way of putting a spotlight on incredible people who are here gifting us their creativity. How truly inspiring!
Such a wonderful book, filled with examples of positivity for girls. Stories about women from every walk of life, every type of career that you can imagine. Letting nothing stand in their way! Each story is a short read, perfect for those times that an uplifting story is needed or wanted.
I can honestly say that this is a perfect book to give as a gift!
I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this fantastic book, with the expectation that I would leave an honest review.
I've seen this book series around and have been interested, but this is the first time I've been able to read a copy. My general reaction was: YES!
I love this. I love this concept. I love the idea of raising children with stories of real people who are strong, brave, creative, smart, and influential. I love the idea of children growing up knowing these stories and feeling that, hey, if these girls can do this, then maybe I can too! I strongly believe in the power of books and stories, and these are the kinds of stories that can change individuals so they can go on to change the world.
So to the overall concept of this series and this book: YES, YES, YES!
I like the format of the book a lot. The bright illustrations and colors make it feel fun and engaging, which will help draw the interest of younger children who still want books to look fun. I like how every illustration includes a quote from the highlighted person and a credit to the illustrator, allowing the page to highlight the talents and skills of all kinds of women and nonbinary artists. I love that the illustrators and writers all have bios.
I like that they highlight birthdays as well as key words to describe the person or what they work on such as "dyslexia," "transgender" or "immigrants" so that it is easy for readers to find stories that are from people like them or to learn about a specific topic.
The stories are short, only a few paragraphs, to highlight the person and their accomplishments without being overwhelming or potentially having someone lose interest. I also love the implementation of QR codes to that readers can hear longer stories of some of the people if they are interested.
Overall, I love this book and will now need to pick up the other books in the series. If I ever have children of my own, this will absolutely be a frequently visited book series.
Thank you so much for letting me read this one in exchange for an honest review.
This was so empowering to read and I hope it will get translated to my language so I can read this one correct with my daughter. I tried to do my own translate so she could listen.
It is a must have in every home with kids or if working with kids.
I feel almost redundant in my reviews of the Rebel Girls books. While focusing on young girls who have amazing accomplishments, this book continues the exemplary record of the previous books.
Short biographies highlight diverse girls who through intelligence, hard work, and perseverance have accomplished great things in their communities. From songwriting to conservation to invention, the girls in this book shone as they followed their passions to create necessary and valuable change in the world.
The portraits accompanying each biography are gorgeous and eye catching, with bright colors and unique styles. The artists behind the portraits are as varied and accomplished as the girls they illustrated.
I’m still a little disappointed with the inclusion of numerous QR codes. Not everybody buying these books have access to smart phones. At least at the end there are directions to the website which hosts similar extra content.
This is an inspiring addition to the Rebel Girls line up and worth adding to any child’s library.
Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girl for this ARC!
Another brilliant edition from the Rebel Girls series. This book is so inspiring and makes for great talking points with young people.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
Thank you Rebel Girls and NetGalley for sending me this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adore these books by Rebel Girls. They have done an amazing job, once again! I do realize I am not the target audience of these books, but it works on me just the same. :D I feel inspired, motivated and encouraged. And that's the least we can hope the little girls reading this book will feel.
This book introduces to us 100 amazing young girls and women who were not afraid to give their all for the cause they believed in. They often didn't succeed on the first try, but they never gave up and achieved their goal - to make a positive change in the world. I loved to read and learn about these women, some of whom I'd never heard of before.
Also, I really appreciated how diverse this book was in terms of what fields these women were from, starting from science and activism, through politics and business, all the way to music industry and sports. Fantastic!
Loved this one! Such an inspiring book for all children to read, my son and I loved going through it and picking out a new changemaker to learn about! I've bought a physical copy to add to our shelf after reading this!
