Wow what a debut! Impossible to put down full of suspense, keeps you guessing, a real or planned kidnapping? What is going on!!! Loved the short chapters, and the wiring style that kept you questioning everyone

This was Ms. Payne's debut novel and I have to say it was pretty amazing. It's thrilling, suspenseful, and twisty and quite the page-turner. I was drawn in right from the start. I liked how the story was presented in dual perspectives and you could see what was going on in the creepy mind of Daniel's. Noelle works at the same hospital as Daniel who is an anesthesiologist. They start dating and Noelle thought he was the perfect guy, almost too good to be true. But then she began to realize his controlling nature and how potentially dangerous he could be and she wanted out. But he is constantly throwing mild threats her away about her loved ones, and in order to protect them, she doesn't leave. But eventually, she has had enough and desperation causes her to come up with a plan that will allow her to disappear and keep her loved ones safe. But when things don't go according to plan, Noelle doesn't accept defeat. This is one psychological thriller that had me on the edge of seat, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next. An exciting thriller you can't miss. I will definitely be looking for Ms. Payne's books in the future.
I listened to this story as an audiobook, and the narrators were excellent. Both voices really brought the characters of Daniel and Noelle to life.
Thank you Bookouture Audio, Ms. Payne, and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This one was a DNF for me. I just couldn’t get into the story at all, and I didn’t care for the narrator.

I didn't get very far into this story before giving up. I might have stuck with it longer if I was more keen on the narration, but I didn't find it particularly engaging. There was no subtlety with villainous Daniel, and Noelle's behaviour was odd. even for a woman with a history of being in abusive relationships. The whole concept of planning her own kidnapping was just silly and clearly would never work - as if nobody would search for her! I just felt I've read too many versions of this story before, and they were a lot better.

Wow 🤩 loved this book 📚, For a debut novel , it kept you gripped from the first page ! When I read the cover of the book I did think , ‘yet another woman kept prisoner in their house by her controlling husband’ but that was so not the case !! An original storyline told from the POV of the two main characters which kept you wanting to read ‘ just one more chapter’ before you went to bed! Will definitely be in the look out for more books by this author

The male narrator was probably one of the best male narrators I’ve listened too, he really engaged with the character and just brought him to life . I did find the female narrator to be quite robotic in parts, however the book was that good it didn’t matter !!

It was just okay. I listened to the audiobook and just couldn't get into the storyline. Halfway through I lost interest and didn't care about the characters anymore, but listened all the way through cause I wanted to see how it ended. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the Advance Review Copy.

A great story told in alternating perspectives from Noelle & Daniel. Fast paced with lots of twists & turns. Leading up to the end was a bit convoluted but definitely a great debut novel. Looking forward to more from this author.

What an amazing debut thriller. I read a lot of thrillers and this one surprise me with its clever twists and turns.
i loved the narration and all the little mysteries that are unravelled throughout the book.
being in dual perspectives from both characters helps give a all rounded view of the characters and story. i enjoyed Daniel’s POV. You really get into his head and discover his whole thought process. In his world, everything he did made perfect sense.
The main characters and the flashbacks made this an exceptionally clever and brilliant book.

Handsome, attentive, wealthy... Daniel is the perfect boyfriend any girl could ask for. And Noelle considers herself the luckiest girl on Earth. But with time Daniel's attention begins to smother her, and as a result, she finds herself in the tight claws of Daniel's "love". But the worst is yet to come. After short but successful research into Daniel's previous relationship, she uncovers an ugly truth. Guided by fear, Noelle stages her own kidnapping, but that's when the situation becomes very tricky and the pretend kidnapping turns into a run for her life.

This was definitely an interesting novel. I had many mixed feelings during the read. Will admit, that the plot at times was overdramatic. Certain parts just didn't seem realistic. However, the pace of the novel was fast, and it moved from one scene to another one with lightning speed. And now, let's talk about the fiction bomb thrown at the very end of the novel. Although I've expected something similar to happen, the magnitude of the twist was simply marvelous.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture publisher for a free and advanced copy of this novel.

I loved this audio. This is a really dark book about a controlling relationship and the steps someone will take to escape them, in this story she organises her own kidnapping but as events take a dark twist maybe everything is not a cut and dry as she thought. This is an edge of your seats audio which does not disappoint.

The psychological thriller Make Me Disappear grabs hold of you and doesn't let go until the end. Jessica Payne has hit the mark with her new book!
Noelle is a nurse who catches the attention of a wealthy anesthesiologist, Daniel. He works hard to win her favor, and then he traps her. Her every move is filmed, and it seems there is no way out.
Noelle thinks Daniel may be responsible for her aunt's death, so she contacts a fake kidnapping agency. She arranges her kidnapping so Daniel can't trace her, but it turns out the kidnapping is real. But why?
Amelia Sciandra and Josh Wichard did a fabulous job narrating their roles. They were professional and entertaining.
I recommend the story to experienced readers who enjoy psychological suspense.

Outlier Alert.

Can I just say that this wasn't for me and leave it at that? No? Ok, well here goes.

Noelle is a nurse at a hospital where she meets Dr. Daniel Ashcroft, who sweeps her off her feet. Though the relationship moves fast, she's all in. Even though her last boyfriend was an abusive narcissist, the fact that Daniel is controlling and manipulative doesn't give her any pause at all.

Eye roll.

After months and months, Noelle finally catches on. I'd ask what took her so long but I think it was the cameras in her apartment that finally clued her in.

Major Eye Roll.

In the end, I just found this to be way over the top. The fact that I guessed what was going to happen, didn't help either. That said, the male narrator did make me laugh from time to time. While he wasn't the best narcissistic/sociopathic character in a novel ever, he did bare a teeny tiny resemblance to Paul Strom in Kaira Rouda's The Best Day Ever, which made this novel bearable.

I listened to this audiobook with Kaceey and she liked it more than I did.

Thanks to Bookouture Audio for the alc.

This story sort of reminded me of that book "you" about the stalkers obsessed point of view, except in this case she is aware of what is going on here. This book started out great but the longer I listened (as I had the audiobook version) it just got weird and creepy. But I would read/listen to more from this author.
I posted this on goodreads on May 17, 2022 (sorry I forgot to post on here that I was done)
Thank you for allowing me to listen to this story!

Started off really well with the typical controlling boyfriend and had lots of twists and turns just what I like in a thriller but far too many coincidences to make it believable and by half way I had guessed what had really happened, that said it was an OK listen

Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy in exchange for a honest review. Noelle is in a relationship with controlling boyfriend Daniel. She is convinced he murdered he Aunt and can see no way out. Then she stumbles across a online advert for a fake kidnapping and decides to fake her own disappearance. This is only the start of her nightmare. A great psychological thriller.

This was a fantastic debut with a premise that reminded me a bit of the Tindler Swindler. The two main characters were well narrated and the storyline makes you want to find out more!

3.5*
Talk about OTT!🤪

I had mixed feeling after finishing this one. The premise was…well, just so far-fetched it became borderline silly.

Noel thought she hit the jackpot when she started dating well known Dr. Daniel Ashcroft. But it’s not long before things begin going seriously wrong. So bad in fact, she realize she needs to get away before the relationship turns even more dangerous for her and her family.

This, after discovering the good doctors’ two previous girlfriends both mysteriously vanished. And what better way for her to do a disappearing act of her own. Perhaps by arranging her own kidnapping. Ummm…ok?

The whole storyline got a bit bonkers after that as Noel and Daniel played power games with one another.

The saving grace for me was Jessica Payne's character, Dr. Daniel Ashcroft. Oh My Gosh! Loved (to hate) him!! And Josh Wichard’s narration of him had me in stitches! Absolutely stole the show! If you listen to this audio you’ll understand!

This character is up there among my favorite sociopathic men. As in Joe from Caroline Kepnes’ You series and Paul, from Kaira Rouda’s Best Day Ever! Seriously! That good!

Is it worth the time to listen to Dr. Daniel Ashcroft? Yes! Absolutely! Bumping my rating up to 4* just for this character!

I can’t wait to see what you all think of him!

A buddy read it Susanne that left us both laughing at the good doctor!
