This is book 5 in the fantastic hedgehog Hollow series by Jessica Redland and I'm pleased to say that this one is just as brilliant as the previous 4.

Once again you have the 'returning characters' list which I think is a brilliant touch at the start of the book, especially when you can refer back to it whilst reading the book if you forget who certain characters are. I kept forgetting who Natasha and Rosemary were.
You also have the signature hedgehog picture at the start of each chapter which is another feature I absolutely love.

This time we read Lauren's story as well as continuing Samantha's story. Before I get into properly reviewing this, I just want to say how awesome it is that the Hedgehog Hollow series seems so multi-generational. By this I mean, in each of the books the character who features alongside Samantha seems to be a different age so I feel like this series would appeal to a wide range of readers as different ages could relate to different things from the characters.

Anyway back to reviewing book 5.
There were delicate topics raised in this book which I think Jessica Redland handled sensitively whilst trying to explain the impact of that topic clearly so you the reader could really engage with the characters.
Whilst handling quite heavy topics, there were also lighter aspects to the book, such as the topic of sweets and the naming of hedgehogs. One particular name (George from the TV series Rainbow) had my dad going on YouTube to find an episode of Rainbow for me to watch which was quite fun.

You also follow Samantha and Josh on their honeymoon and I enjoyed going on Google to find the different Specie of hedgehog they found and seeing the differences between that and the Hedgehogs Samantha and Josh treat at Hedgehog Hollow.

I really loved this book and will definitely be buying a paperback copy as soon as I can. I can't wait for book 6.

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood books for an advanced reader's copy of this brilliant book.

This book starts with a recap of Sam's Wedding and how the day affected some of her guests. Lauren remembers her Wedding and how Shaun had left her a note stating he couldn't do this anymore and disappeared just before their 7th Anniversary. She then re-lives their story, a heartbreak she has kept hidden. It is 25 years before she finally finds out the reason he left her! We also follow Sam on her wonderful safari honeymoon and their return to the hedgehog rescue centre. This was a very good read about the many family and friends within this small community. I thoroughly recommend it and look forward to the next installment in this series.

Lauren is a successful single woman who isn't particularly looking for love. When a new man comes round the area and drops a bombshell about her job, which she loves, she is confused about her feelings for him. At the same time, Sam & Josh are on their honeymoon to Africa. I really enjoyed reading about Lauren's story, and we also see many more familiar characters from previous books pop in too! Overall, another sensational book!

A delightful tale involving several characters. Laurel's back story was unusual. Sam and the hedgehogs are adorable. Lots of personal growth and insight. Captivating novel. I am certain I would have enjoyed it even more had I read the previous ones. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

I always enjoy Jessica Redland’s writing. There are always unusual events, which she handles
very sensitively. As well as Josh and Samantha’s honeymoon in Africa where they are shown the different hedgehogs we get to hear Lauren’s story. Lauren’s past has held her back from moving forward and she has some difficult situations to deal with. As always in this series we catch up with characters from the other books plus new characters included Sasha and her partner as well as Riley whose family run a garden centre. I think to get the most of the series it is better to read the earlier books but it can be read as a stand alone

Thank you netgalley for the arc for chasing dreams at hedgehog hollow by Jessica Redland in return for an honest review. As an avid fan of Jessica Redland books I was super excited to have been accepted to read this. Hedgehog hollow is possibly my favourite series its a very close call but it tips the poll. This book follows Samantha who owns and runs hedgehog hollow and her aunty in law Lauren. each chapter flips between the two characters which leaves you wanting more. hoping for more in the future.

Loved it!!! Love this series (but I still need to read the first two books in the series. I bought them, now I just need to read them. Too many books to read, not enough time.) It always takes me a little time to figure out who everyone is again, with all the parents, their spouses, friends and family. This book was a bit different than the previous one because it centered more around Lauren than Samantha. It was actually a nice change. I like Samantha, but at times she is a little too much. The back and forth about everything, afraid to tell her husband stuff and just other nonsense. Lauren's story was very interesting and not what I expected. I couldn't wait to finally learn the truth about Shaun's mysterious disappearance. There really wasn't any good reason for what he did. Ivy should have told Sam once she found out. She knew how much pain Lauren was in not knowing what happened to her husband. Shaun too the easy way out, he made all the decisions and never even consulted Lauren. If they loved each other and were the best friends that they both claimed, then he could have talked to her. His reason for leaving wasn't what I expected. He shouldn't have waited 26 years to contact her. Not sure why Jonathan would consider getting back together with Debs. Not sure why he ever allowed his wife to treat their daughter the way she did. Loved Luna and the little hoglets. Hedgehogs sound so cute, I wish we had wild ones that lived in our garden. I would definitely volunteer at Samantha's hedgehog rescue center.

Definitely recommend the book. Love the characters, story and writing style. Can't wait to see what happens next at Hedgehog Hollow. I'm guessing babies will be in the near future, although who knows if Sam will change her mind again. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Another Hedgehog Hollow book! How exciting!

I was so excited to read this book and as soon as it got approved on Netgalley, I absolutely devoured it!
The lead up to the twist in this book was very suspenseful and learning all about Lauren's past and journey to her life today was so beautiful to read.

My only negative is that I felt like the twist could have been a lot better, I felt a bit let down by the ending and was expecting a much more in-depth twist so after 70% of reading before the reveal, I felt a bit deflated by it.
It felt like a bit of a cop out of an ending, I felt like Jessica could have really made this ending incredible because the lead up to it really was.
But the twist just really wasn't what I was hoping for and that meant that this book really fell flat for me.

For this reason, I've given it 3 stars. Normally, a 'Jessica Redland' book is an automatic 5 star read for me but I really felt like this book let down such an incredibly well written, imaginative, beautifully set series.

CHASING DREAMS AT HEDGEHOG HOLLOW
BY
JESSICA REDLAND
How lovely to head back to Hedgehog Hollow for the fifth time in this heart warming series. It’s like putting on your favourite shoes and heading off for a new adventure. (I realise that probably makes me sound barking mad!)

In this visit to Hedgehog Hollow, it’s Lauren’s turn to tell her story.
We join the gang where book 4 (A Wedding At Hedgehog Hollow) left us. It’s Samantha and Josh’s wedding day.
As the nuptials take place, Lauren (Josh’s aunty) finds herself confused over her feelings for Jonathan (Samantha’s dad). The pair share a house and a very close bond. There may be a possibility of romance, but there is also the issue of unfinished business with his ex-wife, for Jonathan to work through.
The following day, a trip to the local garden centre also brings the lovely Riley in to Lauren’s life. A shared passion for music and sweets triggers their connection. However, when Riley turns up at Lauren’s place of work a few days later, he could be about to throw Lauren’s world upside down.
Lauren has been steadfastly single for many years. She has two broken marriages behind her. With heartbreak and questions left unanswered from her first marriage and her second trip down the aisle being a massive disaster, Lauren has locked away her heart and thrown herself into work and family.
As her life hits a crossroads. Lauren finally finds answers and some closure to her past. Moving forward towards a new chapter in her life, will Lauren do so alone, or with a new man by her side?

Parallel to Lauren’s story, we follow Josh and Samantha on their honeymoon and through the early days of their marriage.
We also see how life is ticking along for some other much loved characters from Hedgehog Hollow.

This book is a delight to read. The family and community surrounding Hedgehog Hollow is so warm and inviting. As a reader you will be drawn into it’s embrace and come to care deeply about its people.

Jessica Redland isn’t scared of tackling difficult and controversial subjects. This book is no exception.
As always Jessica writes with well researched knowledge, sensitivity, humour and warmth.

I love how the characters have developed throughout the series. I particularly enjoyed where Chloe (Samantha’s cousin) finds herself by the end of this instalment.

This book is a fabulous read and forms a solid part of what is an outstanding series set in the delightful Hedgehog Hollow.
I eagerly await book six!

It can be nothing less than five wonderful stars from me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Although this book is part of a series, a comprehensive character list will bring any newbies up to speed. Seriously though, do yourself a favour, and read the series in order - you’ll love them!

Publication date for all formats is 28/6/22

With thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a digital arc of this title.

When a story is set in the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside and has hedgehogs, romance and weddings what's not to love. I have to admit I am a massive fan of this series and devour every book. I love the way the author introduces us to lots of different characters but takes the time to give us a clear picture of their lives and personalities. The main focus in this story was Lauren but it also included all the other characters we've become familiar with. Lauren is a successful single woman who isn't particularly looking for love. When a new man comes round the area and drops a bombshell about her job which she loves she is confused about her feelings for him. Riley sounds perfect but Lauren is cautious due to her past divorces. Out of the blue she receives a letter and it seems her past has come back to find her.
Fantastic book, I loved it from start to end

Another great installment in this series. This time we get to find out more about Lauren. A few plans are mentioned to entice the reader to await the next book, but this is a great stand along story full of complexed relationships and is a roller coaster of emaotions.

I am a big big fan of Jessica Redland and feel as if I’ve been waiting forever for the newest book in the Hedgehog Hollow series, was so grateful to receive a copy from NetGalley!

And I definitely wasn’t disappointed. This book is written from the viewpoint of Sam and Lauren (the aunt of Sam’s husband Josh) who we have met briefly in previous books. The story continues almost exactly where it left off although I think a new reader would be able to follow it easily enough. As in her other books, Redland addresses a number of sensitive topics well, and has clearly done her research. She also includes lots of helpful hedgehog tips!
Even though there is quite a large ensemble of characters, Redland ensures that they are all essential to the plot, and are well written.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next instalment as it feels like there is more to tell!

The Hedgehog rescue centre, hedgehog Hollow.
Samantha and Josh are on their dream honeymoon in Africa.
And Lauren is chasing her dreams after two broken marriages this book is baste on her story that is written from the heart from the author once again, as she pulls you into the book with the characters with lots of heart-warming moments to capture readers hearts, and I am never disappointed, it can be read as a stand alone book but I do recommend you start at the first book.
It's lovely all the way through.

What a wonderfully beautiful read this was! Jessica Redland you have done it again! You're like a fine wine.. you just keep getting better.
This book touches on a subject I haven't ever read about before so at first I was surprised but not in a bad way.
I really enjoyed reading about Lauren's story and I love the fact the character Riley has my sons name!
Overall, another sensational book!
