Lucky Star by Susannah Nix is the celeb dating rom-com I've been waiting for! Eve is Los Angeles barista and a and Boone is the celeb TV actor. When he propositions her to be his fake girlfriend one day who is she to say no?This book is caring, sweet, funny, and I'd even go so far to say swoon worthy. Loved it and looking forward to reading more from this author!
This was a great book. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read it for an honest review. It was a fun, light read. I enjoyed reading about Eve, a barista at a small coffee shop, and her literal run in with Boone Sheridan, a celebrity. Boone asks her to play the part of his girlfriend for a PR nightmare that he is going through. I found myself rooting for Eve, no matter what happened with Boone. Definitely a great summer read!
Lucky Star is a book about a Los Angeles barista and a TV star Actor. Eve is a huge fan of actor Boone Sheridan so when he propositions her to be his fake girlfriend one day who is she to say no? This book is everything I ever wanted in a Celeb fake dating book. It was sweet, caring, everything handled maturely. If you liked To Love Jason Thorn (or liked the idea more than the book like I did) you’ll LOVE this book. TW on past abusive ex, cheating boyfriend, anxiety and depression.
This is a must read for the summer and a love note to fanfic writers
Lucky Star is the fourth book in Susannah Nix's Starstruck series, but can be read as a stand-alone.
Eve is a Studio City barista. Boone is the sexy star of the hit TV show Abnormal Investigations. When Boone needs a fake relationship to distract the media, Eve decides to do him a favor and add some excitement to her life.
I love celebrity romance, and fake dating is one of my favorite tropes. Boone is an excellent character who made it big on a Supernatural-type show and wants to branch out in preparation for when the show inevitably ends. He needs media cover but is not willing to get into a relationship after his last toxic girlfriend. Eve is trying to make ends meet, doesn't have a lot of friends in L.A., and has no time to plan for a more rewarding and stable future for herself. I loved Boone and Eve's chemistry and all of Boone's friends from the earlier books.
The power differential in a celebrity fake relationship is tricky, and Eve is out of her depth for most of the book. It was really great seeing Eve from Boone's perspective, since she was really hard on herself and it was sometimes difficult being in her point of view. However, I really enjoyed Boone with his golden retriever energy, and Griffin and Alice from the previous book are wonderful.
A fun, summer book!
Thanks to NetGalley and Haver Street Press for access to an e-arc of this book.
AHHH so so cute! This was one of the best publicity stunt celebrity dating regular girl books that I've read in a long time. I loved the dual POV because it gave an insight into the emotions that Boone was feeling and his struggle with depression. There was never a cliche "how could your life not be perfect you're a celebrity?" line like most books like this. I really loved all of the characters. Sometimes the plot felt a bit rushed but the cute aspect made up for it. Would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a sweet read. Also saw that it was part of a standalone series which I will definitely be reading soon.
thank you netgalley for allowing me an ARC of this book.
This book was right up my street and had the perfect about of romance and steamy scenes and I love a good romance book.
From reading the synopsis I knew this book would be a good choice for one of my next reads and I would definitely recommend this to other people who are a fan of these types of books!
What's better than a new release from Susannah Nix? TWO new releases that are just a few weeks apart! I squealed in delight when Lucky Star hit my kindle. It, of course, surpassed my expectations. I was completely invested in Boone and Eve from the get-go. He's a star and she's his biggest fan with a side of fake dating and forced proximity? Yes, please. I loved when Boone opened up and we got to see his brash and flirty side mixed with his swoony, marshmallow center. Sweet, sweet Eve was so relatable and grounded and understandably hesitant. They both tried so hard to keep their feelings on lockdown, but once they couldn't anymore; they were fire. You could cut the tension with a knife, it's glorious. This book has everything, it's witty, swoony, and made my heart ache a few times, I even shed a tear or two. The ending filled me with warm fuzzy happiness. As always with Susannah Nix, her books are so well written I get completely lost in them. Lucky Star can be read as a standalone, but you definitely need this entire series in your life!
Thank you so much NetGalley for an advanced copy of Lucky Star by Susannah Nix. This is a slow burn romance between Eve and Boone (her celebrity crush from years before). This troupe is certainly one that I truly enjoy and Ms. Nix certainly delivered a good one. The slow build between the two really rang true for me. I know that in the book they said it was fast, almost insta-love, but it really didn't feel that way. It was spectacular the way their relationship was built and it did feel like one that would last. Well done. 5 stars!
Well... I liked it. It is a wird little story, and little unbeliveable, but cute.
I love Susannax Nix book and her type of writting, and this one was a fun one..
This for me is almost 4 stars.
Upcoming Susannah Nix's Lucky Star is the best celebrity romance I've read. And I've read A LOT of them!
She delivered the perfect fantasy interloping fave tropes of mine: fake dating, forced proximity and cinderella simmering in some intense slow burn. 🥵
The main characters were not only adorable and genuine but they shared such chemistry on page it's impossible not shipping them. Eve and Boone were amazing in their banter but they truly shined in their passion. The sex scene were both playful and HOT. HOT. HOT. 🔥
I'm so sad it's over, but glad I have the author backlist to discover. This was my first by Nix.
Absolutely startruck with this one. 10/10 recommend. 💫
i want to thank you next galley and susannah nix for this arc.
this is my second book i read from this author and i have to read the rest of this series
once i started this book i did not once to put it down it was so good. i loved boone character he was such a sweet heart i really did related to what he went through with his toxic ex and i loved how he over came through all that bull and was able to love eve.
eve was such a hardworking independent one who can hold her own she didnt need to depend on her fake ex bestfriend and boyfriend. i loved how even though they were fake dating and an understanding and how they depended in each other in away. i loved that the author show what effects boone toxic left him feeling and it effects his friends and family.
i knew i had to read this once i saw it had fake dating and a slow burn and it did not failed me and i will be recommending this book for others to read because its just so good and funny and i couldnt stop laughing while reading this
An engaging steamy romance. I did not realize there would be so much steam and use of the "f" word when I started this book. Unlike Boone, I prefer plot to smut. Obviously there was enough plot for me to overlook the smut to continue to the conclusion, aka happily ever after. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.
Another incredible romance by Susannah Nix!
Eve's former celebrity crush, Boone Sheridan, has been visiting the Coffee shop where she works, though he has barely said a word to her until one day he comes to her with a proposition: to pretend to be his girlfriend to fix his tarnished image.
I absolutely adored this book! It was funny, witty and extremely entertaining. I have read so many fake dating romances and yet this one felt completely unique. Eve was a very relatable main character and Boone was a very swoon worthy and realistic love interest. I thought they had such a wonderful connection and a lot of chemistry.
Despite being part of a series, Lucky Star can be read as a standalone and has cameos from the previous books. I especially loved the brief appearance of Kimberleigh, who was the main character in Star Bright.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I can’t tell you how just how much I loved this couple and reading this ARC.
Barista come pre school teacher Eve is a Boone Sheridan superfan and when the TV Heartthrob starts coming into Eve’s coffee shop every day for coffee (despite having a $5000 coffee machine at home) it becomes the highlight of her day. So when Boone asks Eve to be his fake girlfriend to help him out, how could she possibly refuse!
I found it ridiculously easy to love and connect with Eve and Boone right from the first page. They are relatable, fun, and their connection and affection for each other is *chefs kiss*
I love a good Celeb x normal dating story but what I love best about this one is that Boone’s celeb stats didn’t feel like this big deal in their relationship, it was much more focused on the pair, their chemistry and the issues they have. Sometimes it feels like celeb dating stories are all focused on the glamour or stress of being famous, but Lucky Star goes out of its way to show that Boone is just a guy who likes a girl but has a weird / glamorous job.
I actually didn’t realise until I was nearly finished this book that it was part of a series but it easily worked as a stand alone.
I am this book's number one fan!
It has amazed me.
When I read the synopsis I already knew that I was going to like this book but I didn't imagine how much.
Never had a fake dating caught my attention so much, but if we add to this that one of the characters is a Hollywood star, I think it's perfect. That is how this book has been.
I'm looking forward to everyone reading it!!!
I can't wait to read more of Susannah Nix!
Very easy to read romance that just kept me reading to find out what HEA looked like for Eve and Boone. A not plausible storyline just drags you in until you are egging on both Eve and Boone to work out how to Amel their relationship work. Boone is the teenage crush we all had on a soap star or actor who suddenly decides you are the one when you are older and have hidden away your fan fiction. Great writing, loveable plot and two characters you want to make it.
This is my first book to read by Susannah Nix and I absolutely LOVED it! It was sweet, cute, loving, had steamy tension, and a dash of drama to keep me happy! I hadn't realized this was part of a series, but I don't feel like I missed out on anything really, so it can definitely be read as a standalone.
I really liked the tropes for this book: celebrity romance, strangers to lovers, fake relationship, roommates, forced proximity, slow burn. I also liked that there was no "miscommunication" trope added as a conflict, as so many romances have. This had a natural conflict in two different ways, which I thought felt like a good fit in the story.
Eve was kind hearted, helpful, and anxious. I liked that she would push through most of the time, but let Boone help her when needed. I also liked that she didn't want to be dependent on him for everything and continued working her 2 jobs.
Boone was caring, sweet, sexy as hell, and a bit broken. I liked seeing him open up with Eve. I thought it was sweet how Boone came to the rescue for Eve after the crap she was dealt.
All in all, this was a wonderful feel good book that kept a smile on my face and had me devouring it in one sitting. I'll definitely be reading more from Susannah!
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC of "Lucky Star" by Susannah Nix.
I absolutely devoured this. Each scene was meticulously written with Boone and Eve being flawed and real. Every detail of their conflicts felt so realistic, it truly allowed me to root for them. For example, the scene were Eve gets sick showcases the love Boone feels for her and it allowed us to see a true sense of loyalty.
Susannah Nix writes romance but she writes it in such a realistic way, you can almost see yourself in the story. I loved this book and I honestly just want to own and reread alot of Nix's books.
This was my first book by this author and I quite enjoyed it. The story was fairly well paced and I really enjoyed the characters, particularly Boone. I wish there was a bit more background on his relationship with his ex, but I have a feeling it may have already been written in another book. I’m definitely planning to add the earlier books in this series to my TBR.

Susannah does it again! In this one she delivers a sweet and sexy celebrity crush to a spunky down on her luck fan girl.
I mean is’s a lot of peoples dreams right? To be swept up into a fake dating scheme to help your long time celebrity crushes image while he helps you out of a shit living situation. So you end up not only being his fake girlfriend but also his roommate and the more coupely things get the ore the lines blear and the more everything starts to feel less fake and more like love?
Can I just say Susannah stop it! You are giving us unrealistic expectations of our celebrity crushes! First Scott then Griffen and now freaking Boone its to much, their too sweet and Swoony and clone worthy!
This awesome story has a lot to love, quirky, adorable heroine Eve. Caring, sweet sexy as hell, bearded hero Boone and plenty of steamy tension and broken pieces to put back together. There’s even one of my favorite sub troupes where she gets sick and he takes care of her!
This is an excellent beach read! Its steamy and engaging, moves at a good pace, has lovely characters and leaves you with the warm fuzzies.
Thank you Susannah for the opportunity to read and advanced copy of this book. All opinions and ratings are my own.
