When Ichiro Kuga’s dad passed away, he took it upon himself to support his siblings and make sure they were always taken care of. Drawing the type of manga he wants to wasn’t earning him the money he needed to save up for his siblings to have the best possible futures, so he’s doing what earns him the most money. Now that he’s haunted by deadlines that leave him without enough time to complete things on his own, he’s hired a new assistant to help out. When Shiori Goshiki arrives, it’s like a dream come true until he tries to save her. Unfortunately, he accidentally binds himself to her, making him her fiancé!

This was such a cute read with pretty artwork and a great cast of characters. I really enjoyed seeing Ichiro Kuga’s family life and the strong bond he has with his siblings. I personally found how great the three of them are as characters as well as their strong bond to be the true star of the story. It was really heartwarming and believable.

However, this is meant to be a romance between Ichiro and Shiori Goshiki, so of course we have a case of insta love all thanks to an accident! Unfortunately, the pair don’t have any romantic chemistry, so it was a little hard to believe that they suddenly grew feelings for each other so fast. Plus, I was a bit confused because we didn’t get a whole lot of info about the Star People. We learned bits and pieces, but not enough to make some things make sense. For example, I’m still baffled by Shiori’s stinger that appears to be a tail of some sort.

While I enjoyed reading this, I’m having a hard time buying it as a romance at this point in the story. I was also hoping to learn more about the Star People than we actually did, so I’m hoping the author expands on this in the next volume. I’m planning on picking that up soon, but at this point in time, this felt a lot more like a novel about family over a romance between two people from different worlds.

Visually, this was not a bad read. But the story overall made me feel just an okay read.
There is something about the pacing that made it just an okay read for me. The family aspects in here and how our main mc had to sacrifice for his family was one that I liked, but the worldbuilding was a bit off for me. Might go into the second volume but will see how it goes.

Ichiro Kuga is struggling hard to maintain his passion and the deadlines along with it as a manga artist. His assistants has quitted too and it adds up more problems to his existing ones but one person comes to his aid. She is Shiori Goshiki , one who has applied to become his new assistant.
The fun fact comes just after it, when she declares them engaged to marry soon..
I had a great time reading each page of this manga.

A Galaxy Next Door Volume 1 told an intriguing and interesting story. While it's not one of my favorites, I still liked it and will recommend it to friends who are interested in quirky romance stories.

This was refreshing however I felt like the storytelling could have been better. There were many times I felt bored when I was reading and at the same inconsistencies. Overall, I think this was pretty okay as a first volume.

Thanks to Kodansha and Netgalley for the ARC.

Ever since their father died, Ichiro Kuga has struggled to support his two younger siblings on nothing but a small inheritance and his passion for drawing manga. But it's becoming harder to keep up with his growing responsibilities and deadlines, especially after his last two assistants quit to follow their dreams. Just as he’s nearing his breaking point, the beautiful and scarily competent Shiori Goshiki applies to become his new assistant. But there’s something almost otherworldly about Goshiki, and soon Kuga finds his reality turned upside down when she suddenly declares them engaged to marry!

The art style is adorable, I love it. The overall story is very cute. How the love interests interact with each other, is adorable. The ending is so adorable that I want the next one now.

Visually I think this is stunning. The artwork is striking and beautiful. I like the design of the characters and, as a whole, I like the characters as well. The premise feels familiar and I’m not so sure about the romance. I saw another review mentioning that it comes across as quite formal. I think that might be it.

A Galaxy Next Door centers on an orphan who aside from his regular job as a manga artist handles child rearing as the eldest sibling of three. When he hires a freelance assistant in a particularly rough spot, he chances upon a shocking discovery - she's an intergalactic princess and not only that, but also by a twist of fate they are now mistakenly betrothed! What does the future hold in store for this odd couple?

I thought this was adorable! The art is gorgeous and both Kuga and Goshika are charming leads. I'm excited to continue following this series.

I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but this was not really my jam, storywise. The artstyle was nice though so that's cool. Also it was not bad, just not for me

I started reading this manga without any expectations and I'm not disappointed. The story was nice, I always enjoy reading mangas about mangakas. I was in a reading slump and this gem helped me get out of it. Cute, funny, nice art style. I’ll have to continue reading this! Huge recommendation!

This was a sweet and cute manga but also kind deep as well. The art style was pretty and the story was good. Overall this kept my attention but nothing super wowing. I will continue the series though. 3/5 stars

I love reading manga about/with characters who make manga, aid in making it or work in the manga industry. So when I read the synopsis for A Galaxy Next Door, I knew that I wanted to read it. Super wholesome is the name of the game with this manga by Gido Amagakure of a young man, Ichiro Kuga, who is on the struggle bus: he’s been struggling to provide for his two younger siblings since their father passed away not too long ago. He’s also a manga artist in the earliest part of his career and it is a while before he’s an established one. Manga is his passion and yet it is still an industry that can be seen as an unstable one because of many factors including the intense working deadlines.

Enter the effortlessly efficient and beautiful Shiori Goshiki who arrives at the right time as his newest assistant. The more Ichiro and family get to know this mysterious young woman, the more she appears like a Marry Poppins/Doctor (Doctor Who) creature who ends up making everyone’s lives better, the longer she stays. After an all nighter to make a deadline, Ichiro awakens to surprise her after a mishap. After declaring that they are now engaged to be married, the story of surprises and expectations begins!

As I said the narrative is wholesome, the art is pretty clean and easy on the eyes and the backstory of Shiori revealed bit by bit is pretty interesting. Lovers of slice of life, coming of age genres might gravitate to this title as would folks who love reading about characters on the page making manga. I felt some of the plot which is very weird was a bit rushed and I’m happy to see Shiori experiencing lots of firsts but I hope that her agency doesn’t solely work in the confines of her being in love or just falling in love for the first time. A sweet, wholesome and weird manga yet it didn't grab me immediately. Hoping that the next volume in the series is a bit stronger in fleshing out this new relationship and Shiori as a character.

So the art was good and the story was alright and all, but I wasn’t feeling the romance. Like not even an ounce of it. I liked our two main characters, but everything just seemed so formal and kind of stiff. Awkward might be a better word for it.

I’m sorry to say I don’t really recommend this one. It was okay, but not enough for me to tell people to read it.

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Kondasha, and Gido Amagakure for the opportunity to read this book for my honest and unbiased opinion.

A strange a cute story about a young mangaka struggling with life and a princess for an island afar. Those two engage a relation after he touches a certain part of her body... but nothing creepy, promise ! Even with a Damoclès sword, they don't want to force themselves into a unsafe relation and take their time to understand and know each other well. The art is cute and the story really sweet and sensitive, i really recommend it

The style of this is quite classically beautiful, with some really gorgeous panels across the story. The plot itself is a little weird, in that you are suddenly thrown into the space part of it, and have to just accept the odd anatomy element to the princess (and what this means for our MC!).

It feels a little rushed, but then this is fairly common and usually results in more fleshing out of the background and details as the series progresses. I like the humour and the personalities of the characters, and do feel the style is visually fab - it's just a bit strange plot-wise for me!

This was so much cuter than I was expecting. It's a little weird, a little funny, and a lot of sweet. I really liked that it was a manga about a manga writer and artist.
The art was really nice as well and added to my enjoyment.
