Hiragi babysitting Sakura and Sugishita will never not be funny heh. I watched the anime twice and got obsessed; now it’s time to binge-read the manga so I can get more obsessed 😋✨ I love these boys so much they give me so much comfort 🥹💞
A huge thank you to Netgalley and Kodansha comics fo giving me the chance to read Wind Breaker vol.1 by Satoru Nii in exchange for my honest review.
I loved it ! From the first to the final page, I loved it !
If you want a Tokyo Revengers DONE RIGHT with a protagonist that will kick ass and a plot that is engaging and you want to read more, then Wind Breaker is for you !
If you want a manga that will bring the new gen manga/anime vibes while you read it ,you should definetely give a try !!
This was ok but i felt like not much actually happened. I like the idea of the ‘bad kids’ school becoming the good guys of the town but a lot more could of happened in this volume.
What can I say? I loved this so much I already bought and read the following volumes.
To me, this series is like haikyuu but with street fighting. It has motivational speeches, important messages, character growth, and a big cast of characters that are so carefully crafted you want to root and know more about all of them.
Give it a chance, you won't regret it. I usually shy away from anything that has violence in it, and yet this series has me hooked. That's how good it is.
I was pleasantly surprised by this. The action and the characters are so good. And Haruka Sakura has got me in a chokehold.
What a fantastic start to the Wind Breaker series! I originally got this after watching the anime, and I can't recommend it enough. I'll definitely be grabbing more of these!
I’ve been hearing a lot about this manga series from my friends for a while, so when I saw this on NetGalley, I did not waste any time and immediately went to read this. At first, I wasn’t entirely sure that I will enjoy this but I actually really enjoyed this. WIND BREAKER follows Haruka Sakura, a young boy who recently moved into a new town to go to Furin High School which is essentially a school for delinquents. All he wanted was to be the strongest, he has no interest in being a hero. It’s a fun, fast-paced and action-packed manga that is filled with an interesting cast of characters. I liked Sakura from the start because he’s got ambition. He’s so driven and feisty, but underneath his tough exterior, he’s actually a softie. This volume is a promising start to another exciting manga series. After I finished this volume, I couldn’t help but picked up the next one!
Wind Breaker is a manga that follows the story of a teen who joins a delinquent school in order to become the top and prove himself the best fighter there is.
Wind Breaker is a lot of fun. It’s like Tokyo Revengers but for a younger audience without the more realistic side of gangs and gang wars. A couple of the characters even look like they came from Tokyo Revengers (Sugishita honestly looks like if Baji from TR was Ruth from The Ancient Magus Bride).
And speaking of Sugishita, he’s probably my favorite character so far besides Sakura, the main character. He’s introverted, flies off the handle at the dumbest moments, stupidly loyal, and a giant sleepyhead. He’s just so dumb, and a total tsundere I can’t help but love him.
The main character of Wind Breaker, Sakura, is honestly not what you’d expect to be as a shonen MC but at the same time everything you expect. Not only does he have a somewhat feminine name (Sakura meaning ‘cherry blossom’) he’s got a pretty face, blushes too easily, and is the typical tsundere (which just makes me think of Kyo from Fruits Basket). Which just makes him way too adorable and you just wanna give him a pat on the head. My boy was born to be in a shojo male love interest and was forced to be a shonen protagonist.
The overall story itself is pretty simple, which is to be expected from a delinquent manga. Sakura comes to a new town filled with prejudices because of previous influences and slowly learns to change his point of view as the fellow gang members of Bofurin show him that they can be delinquents but still have a noble heart. It’s cute, it’s funny, and the art style is pretty clean and easy to follow.
Overall, Wind Breaker is a fun and easy read perfect for those who love stories about teen gangs, friendship, and fighting for what’s right, with a healthy dose of comedy.
NOTE: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley for review purposes only. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked this one, it honestly was a lot of fun! 😂
It is so endearing that Sakura-kun is trying to be this whole alpha, this cold guy you doesn't a peep about anything and anyone, who just cares about fighting and couldn't care less about what people think of him... but one little 'thank you' or one little friendly gesture and that boy is blushing like crazy, becoming flustered and embarassed, because he simply isn't used to any affection. Which, in turn, makes me soo sad again. 🥹
This is only the first Volume, but I hope Sakura will make lots of friends in the series!!🫶
But also; the action scenes are pretty awesome and I love how cool he is when fighting!!🤩🤩🤩
Haruka Sakura loves fighting and he wants to be number one. In order to be number one he needs to beat the strongest of the strong and what better way to prove that then to join Furin High School (a school for delinquents). He soon realizes the kids at this school are far more than just delinquents.
I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS SO MUCH OMG🥺💕
From the moment I saw Haruka I knew he would be my favorite. He has this tough exterior, he’s used to people judging him on how he looks and he never turns down a fight. I’m curious to see if we get more information on his backstory to see why he is this way.
Thank you NetGalley and to the publishers for giving me this arc in exchange for my honest review!
I absolutely had a great time reading this volume of the series. The characters were amazing and the plotline was quite interesting. The author and illustrator has done an amazing job and the background was amazing too. I am looking forward to read more from this series.
I absolutely LOVED Wind Breaker! It's got delinquents with a heart of gold, found family trope, wholesome friendships, and great character development for the protagonist. Sakura was described to be like a stray cat by the mangaka—and it shows, not only in his behaviour, but in his physicality and the agility he displays as a fighter.
One of my favourite shounen reads this year.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-ARC copy of this book, in exchange for this honest review.
I absolutely love windbreaker! This series will be such an endearing one. It's Tokyo Revengers light, but with wholesome characters and not an annoying main character lol. Haruka is the cutest MMC and the friendships he's going to build throughout this series are so wholesome. The entire premise makes this a true delinquent manga and now that the anime is airing and gaining more popularity I hope everyone checks this out!
Keep in mind, there are no rules, it's just fighting and friendships haha. The growing cast, the growing bonds and the message it sends makes this a recommendation for anyone!
Sakura has come to the neighborhood of Makochi to attend Furin High School. It’s an all-boys school known as being full of delinquents where students constantly get in fights. Sakura intends on fighting his way to the top because he has no time for anyone weaker than him. But when he finally gets into the neighborhood, he discovers an entirely different environment. Students from Furin are called Bofurin - protectors of the neighborhood, and they don’t fight each other - they protect the citizenry and fight other gangs to deter other delinquency in their area. Sakura's not so sure this is all he signed up for, especially since it means he has to work together with others and get along with his fellow first-year students.
At first, I was taken aback by this manga because I went into it thinking it was purely a sports manga. It definitely has some sports manga tropes - the characters work together on a team to master their sport (in this case, fighting), but this first volume has a lot more heart and depth to it as we learn who Sakura is. There are a lot of similarities to Tokyo Revengers but without the time travel elements and with a lot less cussing, so this title is a little more appealing for school audiences. I also personally appreciated Sakura as a main character more than Takemichi from TR, but other readers may connect with the grittiness of TR more than this title.
There is some physical violence and a bit of blood in this first volume, as well as some mild profanity. Kodansha may have rated this for Older Teen if it gets more violent later in the series.
Sara's Rating: 8/10
Suitability Level: Grades 9-12
A shonen manga about a boy with heterochromia and half-and-half hairs who goes to an infamous high school to be the strongest, and learns that his fellow classmates are more than just delinquents (yankees, as they say in Japan).
The fighting scenes are dynamic, and the characters that have appeared so far have unique features to set them apart from each other. Going in I thought it was going to be centering on delinquents, which it does, but it takes an interesting stance on them, positioning them as protectors in their neighborhood. It feels like there’s going to be a fun, kinda dumb, high-school-boys sort of humor going on as each character grows and goes through an arc.
Recently adapted into an anime as well with a great opening song, so interested in that now too.
Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC!
Thank you Kodansha for the ebook on netgally.
Wind Breaker follows a student called Haruka Sakura that just moved to into town. Sakura aims to be the top at Furin High School.
I really liked Sakura's character. There is so much to Sakura that meets the eye. He sees himself as someone not worthy and as trash. He feels this way about himself because of his childhood which wasn't the best.
We get glimpse of what he went through. Which I loved because it gave us an idea of what kind of person Sakura is. I can't wait to see his character development.
Thank you to Netgalley and the tagged publisher for my copy of Windbreaker Vol 1.
I loved reading this manga. It didn't take me long to read, but I already love the premise of this manga. I really liked Haruka Sakura's design and his attitude. It made me laugh at times because he's so determined. It centers around the life of young Haruka Sakura, a boy with heterochromia in both hair and eyes. He has always been ostracized because of his appearance and demeanor. The alienation he felt led him to enroll in Furin High School, an institution renowned for its delinquent-like students, to prove his strength by defeating the current leader of the school. Unbeknownst to him, two years prior to his arrival, the students of Furin pledged to defend their town from outside attacks and invasions, which seemingly obstructs his plan. He did not expect to start experiencing a sense of community thanks to the recent change in the school and the way townsfolk react to his presence.
Although I did watch the anime first, so maybe I am taking that into consideration, but I can't wait to read more of this series.
Avabilve to watch on Chruncyroll

This manga caught my attention immediately. The beginning of the story, the characters, everything is interesting, charming and intriguing.
WHAT, i loved this sm. purely based on vibes, this is a 5 star. otherwise, it's still a 4½ star. definitely doing the delinquent trope with a twist considering they protect the town. love the main character & the action so far is already pretty thrilling. the anime is great too. i love this sm! sakura is such a delight to be on this journey with and the side characters are so intriguing. the character design is awesome and im fully obsessed with all the character dynamics already. full transparency ive gotten another 5 volumes into this series & they've all been bangers. one of the best animes this season for sure and the manga is even better!
thank you to netgalley and kodansha comics for an e-arc of this manga. all thoughts are my own and not influenced in any way.
Thank you netgalley for an advanced ARC of this manga
I enjoyed reading this allot & found it fast Paced, I can see this being a long series unrevealing a deep story.
In this manga we have the main character Haruka Sakura a young delinquent who is seen as a bad boy because his main goal is to become head boy at a school for outcasts and delinquents called Furin High School, but finds out that's going to be harder then he thought but as the book goes on he starts to feel a sense of community that he is unsure about because his never felt it before ( it takes him a while to understand why he starts to care for some people). The main character deals with inner struggles that shows that his values start to slowly change.
I look forward to reading next volume
