Inside Out Train Your Mind and Nerve Like a Champion by Charlie Unwin is a fascinating and practical guide to mastering the art of performance under pressure. Drawing from his own experience as a former soldier, athlete, and performance psychologist, Unwin reveals the secrets of the elite performers who can control their performance from the inside out, rather than being controlled by external factors.
The book is divided into three parts, each focusing on one of the dimensions that shape our inner world: the Thinking Dimension, the Feeling Dimension, and the Intuitive Dimension. Unwin explains how each dimension affects our performance, and provides tools and exercises to train and optimize them. He also shares inspiring stories and examples from various domains, such as the military, sports, medicine, law, music, and finance, to illustrate how the Inside Out method can be applied to any challenge.
The book is well-written, engaging, and easy to follow. Unwin uses clear and simple language, and avoids jargon and technical terms. He also provides summaries and key points at the end of each chapter, as well as a comprehensive appendix with additional resources and references. The book is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their performance, confidence, and resilience in any high-pressure situation, whether it is a life-or-death scenario, a career opportunity, or a personal goal.
Inside Out Train Your Mind and Nerve Like a Champion by Charlie Unwin is a must-read for anyone who wants to learn how to perform at their best when it matters the most. It is a book that will change the way you think, feel, and act, and help you achieve your full potential.
Exceptional book that allows everybody to exceed their own limitations.
Very practical advice coming from an expert in performance that has sharpened his fangs in both the athletic and military fields.Full of interesting stories that can be read separately, very smooth writing explaining both the concept and its practical application.
Excellent.
LinkedIn post: Inside Out by Charlie Unwin turns complex neuroscience, stress adaptation and cognitive performance into simple training principles with insight into the minds of Olympic champions, special forces soldiers, fighter pilots, surgeons, barristers, chefs, musicians and financial traders.
INSIDE OUT by Charlie Unwin made me a smarter person. In this book, Unwin elegantly and succinctly describes how your inner world predicts your outer world -- explaining so very much and setting loose powerful imagining and determination, resolve, and motivation to further explore and develop living a fuller, more contributive life. I received an early copy of this book and these opinions are my own, unbiased thoughts.
I got a little bored with this book towards the end but the cover intrigued me and there were plenty of interesting tidbits throughout. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
Excellent info and advice included here. I've read too much to glean anything new here, but I found lots of great reminders. This is solid information with approaches that will help virtually anyone. I also enjoyed the lack of fluff/filler. Recommended.
I really appreciate the free ARC for review!!
I can't express enough how impacting this book is for me. I've read many many texts about locus of control, driver meta-programs, self-drive etc. But they say 'When the student is ready the teacher appears.' I haven't finished reading yet but even the reminders that self-drive inside-out people focus on and love the process of practice even when they are masters shifted something in me. I love learning, mastery and growth but had got too outcome focused. Thank you for the reminder. I can't wait to read the rest of this consise and excellent book.
