The premise of the book I found interesting and was excited to see what the story was about but the more I was listening I found myself loosing interest to the point I didn’t want to continue-nothing about it felt like it exciting for the long run and it’s incredibly slow.

I didn’t find the characters very engaging to read about, they were boring and none of them really stood out. I did enjoy the setting the book was based in.

The narration did a great job, I would definitely recommend the audiobook if this is a book for you.

I listened to this on audiobook.

Okay so part of me wishes that I’d read this as an ebook rather than listen to it on audiobook, but that’s because there is so much going on in this story, it’s full on non stop and equal measures of slow pace and fast pace. But despite that I did still enjoy listening to this story.

There was a lot of characters to keep track of, figuring out what their part was within the story, whether they were a victim or a guilty of something. It was all very gripping though and if I was sitting down, I’d have been on the edge of my seat in eager anticipation of what might happen next but as it was I was mostly on my feet walking around whilst listening to this.

The story plot was cleverly and intricately woven like a maze, taking you down lots of different routes which you thought would reveal the answer but in fact turned out to be yet another deadend or as the author intended a red herring for sure.

I was truly captivated and enthralled with this book and throughout reading it, I kept trying to piece everything together in my head, and figure it all out, and wondering how it would all end. Suffice to say I couldn't have been more wrong if I tried.

As for the narrator Nathalie Buscombe, couldn’t fault her, she told the story seamlessly and kept me entertained and captivated throughout.

Live a hearty thriller. A great book between super heavy reads. Liked the characters and the plot was twisty enough to hook me in. Pleased I was chosen for the audio version. 4 stars.

I really was not sure what to expect when reading this book as the beginning did not quote drag me in as you would expect a thriller however, I am glad I stuck with it as it was definitely worth the read. I enjoyed the overall story of the book with the con artist and the setting as I've never read a book like this before. It is certainly not a book i will forgey and I will be reading more books from this author!!

I rarely have time for a full audiobook lately but I'm glad I listened to this story.

The story is told in two different times lines. The most helpful thing while listening was that the narrator will actually read at the beginning of each chapter when the action is occurring.

Charlotte is so tired of coning people with her ex-husband and tries to get away from that life.

While she gets on a new adventure, something unexpected letters show up at her door. And here's where the story gets more interesting. Her ex is supposed to be dead or at least disappeared, but who knows all her secrets and writes her those letters?

The story had me guessing throughout. There are some predictable scenes and the action moved forward slowly. But then there are some unexpected twists that intrigued me a lot.

I think it is a great thriller that readers will enjoy. And the narrator plays a big part in this story because she can bring these characters to life flawlessly.

🆓🎧 Very grateful to the publisher for my ALC

I loved listening to this audiobook it was brilliant.
The story was told over two time periods and the listener and no doubt reader was really kept guessing as to
Charlotte had had enough of conning people in her old life wuth her ex-husband and wanted to change her life and move forward, that was until she started getting unnerving messages and also her ex-husband was missing presumed dead, but was she really sure he was?
The narrator (Nathalie Buscombe) was great and easy to listen to and the announcement at the beggining of the chapters helped you know what time period you were in.
With thanks to Netgalley, Headline Audio, Wildfire and the author for the chance to listen to an ARC in return for an honest review

Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy in exchange for a honest review. Charlotte and her ex husband Sam worked together on cruise ships. They also conned wealthy passengers. Then Sam did a rubber with all the money. Charlotte has started to build a new life for herself. Then Sam goes missing and Charlotte receives threats from someone wanting their money back. She takes a job on a super yacht only to find out whoever is sending the threats is on board. A quick paced thriller.

I listened to the audiobook of this and it was fantastic!
Although we follow Charlotte as the main character and I definitely felt for her at times, there was lots about her not to like. She was someone to love and hate!
The dual timeline was a bit confusing on audio but helped to move the story along and bring more information to light about what has happened to Charlotte and why she's scared now. When I dipped into the written book, the chapters made more sense as I could see when it was. The way the book was written kept me guessing til the twist. It was a good one!

A great thriller. The protagonist wants to escape to a New life but she finds it more difficult than she expected The audiobook is easy listen to with a narrator who has a clear and engaging voice. Really enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

Charlotte and her husband Sam used to work cons on wealthy people on cruise ships, eager to get a little bit of the lifestyle that they saw every day but could not be part of themselves as staff. Except one day they were almost caught, and Sam abandoned Charlotte to cope with it alone. She's left that life - and him - behind. But now Sam is missing presumed dead, and someone is after Charlotte, threatening to expose her criminal past, and to hurt her if she does not hand over her ill-gotten gains. The problem with that is that she doesn't have that money, Sam does. So where is he?

I enjoyed this story although it's incredibly difficult to feel sorry for Charlotte at all, since she is such a terrible person, and it's difficult not to see this as a just retribution. Even so, it's a tense story, trying to uncover what has happened to Sam and who is trying to get at Charlotte now. The only downside was that the final part of the story really dragged on for too long and lacked pace, but it was still a good book with a satisfying arc for the main character.

I thought the narrator of the audiobook did a very good job and I enjoyed listening to her read the story.

A really gripping story of two con artists who fell in love - Charlotte (or Lola) and Sam. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, something steps in and the story turns off in another direction. After the relationship starts to break down, Sam goes missing, presumed dead but Charlotte doesn't believe it after she receives suspicious messages and threats left for her whilst working on a super yacht in the Caribbean.
It is told between 'then' and 'now' skipping back and forward so you slowly find out more and more about their story.
The narrator on audiobook was great, I enjoyed the way she told the story, she really brought it to life.

Well damn did this book make me feel almost every emotion possible, I couldn’t tear myself away from the pages. There’s a good number of twists and turns in this book that is sure to keep you guessing right up until the reveal. I found all the characters to be likable and interesting, I enjoyed seeing their lives unfold through the book and seeing how they all fit into the overall plot. The relationship between Sam and Charlotte was so toxic I just wanted Charlotte to get out and find a better, healthy life and relationship away from the con artist that is Sam.

I love a good dual timeline, especially when it works, and in this book is absolutely did. The narrator was absolutely wonderful as well, very easy to listen to.

First of all thankyou to the publishers Headline Audio, Wildfire for a page turning book .

Thriller /mystery

Plot- Charlotte meets Sam on a ship they both work on, a spark starts to appear between the two of them but unfortunately Sam is not all what he is made out to be and he starts to lead Charlotte down a very dark path of lies and deceit. And obviously things start to go wrong and Charlotte end up getting the backhand of everything that's happened trust me though she's not innocent in all of us.. The book thing goes to the Future where Charlotte is trying to make better of her life and get it back on track, unfortunately things start to turn for the worst again!! As she finds out her ex-husband Sam has actually been declared as missing she gets this suspicious text and obviously she needs to find out what is going on even though she wants to be able to move on with her life. And as you can imagine things start to get very dark from there.

So this book actually has two timelines you go back and into the past and then you go into the future again I thought that was really well represented in the book it didn't confuse me in any way shape or form it was really good how they portrayed the story.

The book started out quite fast it did get a little slower in the middle but then started to speed up again and then started to drip feed to you what was actually happening I really like that but the story.

I thought the characters were very well written all of them they all have very strong representation in the book so there was never really one just leading it even though Charlotte was the main character they all had their Time to Shine.

The story ever I thought was very good and did keep you guessing I would say it's a thriller of plenty of clock twists and I really enjoyed that in the story.

I give this book 4 stars

THE EX-HUSBAND by Karen Hamilton
AUDIBLE BOOK - 12 hour & 21 minutes
Release date - 19 August 2022
NARRATOR - Nathalie Buscombe

The narrator of this audible book, Nathalie Buscombe was excellent! The narration brought the story to life. This is one of the best narrators I have had the pleasure to listen to of late. Draws you into the story and you sail on the waves of the luxury yachts together with the characters.

This novel is about betrayal, love, secrets, stealing and cheating. I loved it!

I would recommend this AUDIBLE BOOK.

I WANT TO THANK NETGALLEY FOR THE OPPORUNITY OF LISTENING TO THIS AUDIBLE BOOK IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

The Ex-Husband is a wild ride - full of suspense, twists and turns. I thought I had guessed the plot twist early on, but what I didn't know was how much more there was to come! The author has created a great central character - Charlotte - and while you might love or hate her (I'm still undecided) you want to find out what happens to her.

Exciting and nail0biting - everything you want from a thriller! I enjoyed the audio version of this book and felt the narrator did a great job. I am sure this would work just as well in book form if that's what you prefer and I would recommend to all thriller fans or those looking for a good holiday read.

The Ex Husband is the first book I’ve read by Karen Hamilton and was one of a few recent thrillers for me. I listened to this one as an audiobook.

The story follows con artist Charlotte after she learns her husband, ex husband anyway, is missing and presumed dead. Charlotte seems to be quite the accident prone character but with Sam’s potential killer on the lose and potentially after her it seems it might not just due to her natural clumsiness.

The story is quite fast paced but at times I did wonder what else could honestly happen to Charlotte and what else could she make it through. When we finally find out who’s behind everything I wished where was a bit more realism to how the scene unfolded. Ultimately this is a glamorous thriller and I’d read more from this author.

This is a great summer read, that had me hooked from page one. - Pure Escapism.
Blissful setting becomes an horrendous nightmare, someone wants revenge but who? Friend or Foe? Co Worker or Mortal Enemy.
I love the isolated, claustrophobic setting with no place to hide and zero chance of escape.
Another new author to add to my auto buy list I am genuinely glad I requested this

REVIEW
This is told across two timelines - Then and Now. It is a great beach read thriller and is entertaining if a little far fetched in places. The characters are flawed throughout and it works so well. I wish there was less repetition and more speed in the storyline. However, this could be down to it being an audiobook and will likely play better in print.

If you are after a good beach read of a thriller that transports you to a super yacht in the Caribbean then this is the book for you

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this.

Sizzling. The book of the summer. So twisty and engaging. 5*

Charlotte is such a strong and capable character. She navigates her situation effortlessly and keeps you guessing.

The setting for the book is unique and the imagery really feels like you’re there with them. I read the author likes to travel and it’s easily recognisable within the book that there’s a real travel passion there.
