I cant review this book objectively due to the sensitive matter please take care before reading. However this is just my personal opinion and if you feel you can manage the topic i would recommend you attempt it
Chloe’s night out with her friends doesn’t end in the way she expected it to, safe and sound. Instead she’s dragged off the street and taken to a “club” where there’s all sorts of unsavoury things going on including keeping her as a prisoner. This story was quite bizarre and the writing jerky and all over the place with some repetition which makes me wonder if it has had any proof reading. Paul can’t have been that great if he was a member of this particular club! If it wasn’t for the mention of modern gadgets and some modern terminology you’d think the book had been written decades ago. I liked the book description but reading it was disappointing.
I’m Sorry but this book wasn’t for me at all. It felt very disjointed and stilted - it read a bit like the Ladybird Peter and Jane books I read as a child.
I stopped at 25% and then skipped to the end to discover what was blatantly obvious from the beginning.
Sorry I can’t help not liking this book, the cover is pretty though.
The book starts with the kidnapping of a girl to order, to be delivered to clients at the Newford Priory club. There she was held as a sex prisoner to lots of men and also gorillas.
This was not my type of book, I was expecting a thriller. If you can suspend belief and enjoy fantasy, then this will be a perfect read.
This book covers some really dark themes and does it well. It raises questions about the nature of attachment and the inexplicable nature of some aspects of human behaviour. Once you start reading, you won’t want to stop as you will be desperate for resolution!
I have absolutely no idea what the motivation for writing this book was.
I completely understand that these upsetting topics shouldn’t be silenced, but this book was written like an instruction manual, with no care or interest written at all.
Terrible, avoid!
After a day out with a group of her friends, Chloe Winters disappears. The author’s writing style lends itself perfectly to the genre. She knows exactly when to end a scene and mount suspense. The characters are well-drawn and believable. The plot is perfectly paced, holds your interest, and keeps you guessing.
Not a bad read but I felt it was missing so much from it as I felt their should have been a bit more back ground told but it was grand and I completed reading it …
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
I am going to be honest and say this was a DNF for me. I read maybe 5 minutes of it and stopped. In what I read a lot happened, but there was absolutely no emotion or tension. It was like reading the ingredients off of a box of cereal. A lot of awful things happened to a woman in just a little I read and still...no emotion. In just the little I read, there was a kidnapping, attempted SA, forced medical procedures, and then multiple SA's. There was no build-up to any of this, you're just tossed into the story. No build-up of characters, no emotional resonance to draw a reader in, just BOOM! ABDUCTION..I try to be very fair and positive because I realize that putting a book into the world is brave, but with this book, the nicest thing I can say is that I didn't have to keep reading it.
This is my first novel by author Margot Bentham and I found it extremely interesting. The blurb read very much up my street and really did not give too much of this book away.
We meet Chloe who is the main character in this novel and wow this is such a gripping novel. I do not want to give too much away but she is being held captive and this is such a very different read to anything that I have ever read.
Really worth a read but do be aware that lots of topics that are in this novel are heartbreaking and quite difficult to read at times.
Thanks to NetGalley, Margot Bentham and the publishers for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
This was an amazing book that was infuriating but that I just couldn't stop reading. The writing was excellent with a compelling storyline and well developed characters some of which I loved. I really enjoyed it.
Holy Moly, what did I just read?
Scarlet's Story is a twisted and sadistic book that will have you gasping as you read along. I am not sure I really knew what to anticipate while reading the synopsis and I definitely could not judge what would be within the pages after viewing the cover. I mean, the cover is adorable and looks light and fluffy. This story is anything but light and fluffy. I was completely deceived and I loved it! I loved not knowing what would happen and being shocked with every surprise.
This was an easy read that I flew right through. The character development was on point. The plot kept me engaged and the Margot Bentham narrated this story with perfection.
