The book presents hundreds of high-quality images showing the variety and life that can be found in the world's forests.
Each photograph uses the composition well, showing not just the trees and other plants but the surroundings, wildlife and setting to convey a true sense of place. Creative thought has been used to consider how the images look as a whole, rather than simply each in isolation, forming a flowing narrative throughout the book. Many of the images are given full-page spreads to make them easier and more enjoyable to study. Some pages are truly stunning, such as p164 & 203. Full picture credit is given at the end of the book.
There is a balanced and considered tone used in the text, giving interesting detail in a concise manner that also remains impartial and allows the photography to speak for itself. It is well-structured, using the continents as a means to chapter the work and challenge our beliefs on what is likely to be found in each one.
There are some respectful comments about natural disasters and the impact of people upon these areas that make for captivating reading.
This is a beautiful book and will be even more impressive in print form.
A beautiful picture book featuring various Forests across our Earth. It was neat to see how forests differ from place to place. It also including small blurbs about what you are seeing.
I love that is split up by different places.
For you, if you're a traveller both at heart and mind!
Love the real amazing pictures. They are the highlight of this collection.
You can expect more of pictures than descriptions of the forests. You will have a good idea though from each picture of the forest shown.
Woke up the traveler spirit in me 💓
Thank you, Amber Books Ltd, for the advance review copy.
Forrest-4.5
This photo book contains 180 photos from around the world: forest, plants, insects and wildlife that live within. This book is divided by continents and arranged by country. The photography is the star of the show in this book. While the writing is limited to small blurbs giving location/plant/animals.
The photography of this book is gorgeous! And it definitely inspires my creativity. I would recommend this book to writers and artists. As I was flipping through this book, I was getting Lord of the Rings vibes. I wanted to draw or paint and tell a story. Some pictures of forests are spooky, magical, cheerful, strange and colorful and some look-fairy- tale-like, which inspire the imagination. I really enjoyed the different angles of the photos. The bird's-eye view looked cool. The underwater forest is eerily beautiful. Great book!
Thanks, NetGalley and Amber Books, for providing me with a digital ARC, for an honest review.
Gorgeous photographs of forests 🌳! It was a very peaceful experience looking through all the pictures in this book. I’d love a physical copy for my collection !
Forests by Keiron Connolly is appropriately promoted as a book for those interested Outdoors & Nature and Arts & Photography. This photo book contains 180 photos of forests, and plants and animals that are in them. Divided roughly by continents the photos are the stars. Writing is limited to small blurbs giving location or some minimal information for each photo. And a few paragraphs begin each section. I was happy to learn that while North America and Europe were down to less than 10 percent of their original forests by the beginning of the 1900s both are gaining forest land back. As we need less land for farming with planing forest lands are growing although at a slow rate.
I appreciate there are photos from all seasons and I liked the variety of types of forests. It is beautiful coffee table book or a book for a library that could be looked through by many. Thank you to NetGalley and Amber Books Ltd. for a temporary eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Some really beautiful photographs! There’s some really interesting captions and the right amount of image to text ratio in my opinion!
If, like me, you feel at peace in the middle of a forest or you love driving through a tunnel of trees then boy, do I have the coffee table book for you. Forest by Kieren Connolly is a sumptuous collection of forests from all over the world. The photography is so vivid you feel like you can hear birdsong and the leaves rustle.
I loved that it featured a forest I had been to (Puzzlewood) and it made me think that you could use this book as a bucket list and see as many of these forests as you can. Failing that, each location has a snapshot of information to provide context to the photos.
I will certainly be ordering a hard copy of this book to flip through. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest opinion review.
Simply stunning. Some of the photographs in this book are just beautiful pieces of art and so well captured!
