Wow I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was very cute and nicely developed in my opinion, I personally finished it in one sitting. Sam was just excepcional to me, very driven and passionate despite her family. The romance aspect was pretty good, it never felt forced or too fast. I’m really impressed by how entertaining this book was.
Also thank you Netgalley for providing me with this copy!!!
This is a delightful, sizzling, quick read (just over 200 pages). Samantha Vine is brilliantly smart and has created a company that helps scientists share data. It is preparing for its IPO and wanting to look good for future investors. AJ Trachtenberg is a grumpy middle school science teacher who challenges her to let his middle school students come and see her company. It’s a much funnier start than that but that is the gist. These two are a delight. I love that Sam is a strong leader, wants the best for her employees and is genuinely concerned about everyone she encounters. Because of his past horrible relationship AJ can’t see it. But he is attracted to her and their back and for is great.
I can’t remember a book that ever promoted the sexiness of hairy men. But ever time Sam adored AJ’s pelt, I melted into giggles. And I love her FOOF friends and I really hope several of them are going to get their own stories because I will be waiting to read them. Thank you to NetGalley and Lainey Davis for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. At the end of the book is an offer for an additional epilogue. I don’t think it added a whole lot but I still enjoyed reading it.
Thank you @NetGalley and Lainey Davis for the ARC of Fireball in exchange for my honest review.
Fireball is a fast-paced, grumpy/sunshine, sorta enemies-to-lovers romance that was low angst and easy to read. I think I finished this book in 4-6 hours maybe.
The idea behind this book and the plot are wonderful. I loved the idea of Sam trying to win over AJ. It’s different from the usual enemies-to-lovers you see, and I’m totally here for it!
At times, the dialogue seemed kinda stiff? Not bad, really, but awkward in some phrases or conversations where I was left asking myself if people really talk like that (answer: they don’t). I did enjoy the wittiness Sam and AJ both had in certain points as well.
The only other potentially “negative” comment I have that isn’t really negative in my opinion, but the writing style was very fast paced. It was as if the author wrote literally the only important parts of the story and left out any and all padding, which can be great! Sometimes there’s too many unnecessary words, but in this case, I would’ve loveddddd to see more of Sam and AJ’s lives.
The spice in this book was good, and I can see myself rereading this. Will be recommending to others!
This was a really really good super quite easy read that I read in about four hours. Grumpy/sunshine is one of my all time favorite tropes so this book had me from the second I read the description I loved the way it explained how being non binary works and kind of normalized it to the children that AJ was teaching(it was awesome). 5 stars and I would 100% read it again!
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Fireball by Lainey Davis through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Well I devoured this book! It was a delicious read! An "enemies to lovers' trope well done. The plot was great, the spice was even better! I enjoyed that both MCs went through the paces to find their individual needs and work through difficulties. I thought it nice to read that the male MC's family accepted the female MC who is outside of their religion. The group of friends had good voice but wasn't overdone. My only criticism is that it was too short! Also, I have a feeling it was titled Fireball because it's part of a same settings series, but I think the title Piece of Cake would have been better. :)
If you are looking for a fun, fast-paced, spicy, rom-com...then look no further!
Can't wait to read more from the Bridges and Bitters series.
Love this book. Lots of humour, witty banter, many LOL moments. This book will make you laugh even if you are a machine, I swear. :)
Grumpy and Sunshine/Enemies to lovers are some of my favorite trope so it's not surprising that I love it so much. The main heroine Sam is especially adorable. The romance is funny and sweet. A fun and enjoyable read.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
3.5 stars
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a really fun, short romcom read. It hits all the checkboxes. Enemies-to-lovers and grumpy and sunshine. Our FMC, Sam is an amazing hardworking woman. The MMC, AJ is great too but I have some issues with him though I understand where he’s coming from. Honestly, I really love the vibes in it and I can’t wait for future books in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. All the opinions in this review are entirely my own.
This is a really fun read from start to finish, pure enemies-to-lovers with unfortunate circumstances leading to a not-so-cute-meet.
I really loved the way the relationship between Samantha and AJ builds from a powerful attraction, almost against their will. They each have their challenges and past issues, which causes the requisite amount of tension and provides some context to their actions.
I liked AJ a lot. He is flawed but very relatable. Sam also has vulnerabilities, but I did find her less easy to relate to. How many super intelligent, kind and generous CEO's that look like models does one see walking around the place? Not many. I also felt a bit duped that she didn't really find a backbone when it came to her family.
I love the idea of FOOF and I do look forward to reading more about these amazing, inspiring women - I just hope they are not all too perfect.
This was a cute little romance. I enjoyed the main character, although found AJ a tad annoying and repetitive at certain stages. I thought that Sam was well fleshed out as a character, and thoroughly enjoyed reading her chapters. While the pacing of the book felt a little fast, I did enjoy how quickly I was able to escape into this book. Overall, a solid romance.
I adored all the characters and the atmosphere so much and I hope the author continues putting out more books like this!
