If you love the Seashell Cottage books by Judith Keim, this one is a little different than the others. Instead of the main plot taking place at Seashell Cottage, this book basically starts and ends there; the majority of the story happens elsewhere. Just a little bit different, but it threw me off, because I didn’t really expect that.
This book was okay, it didn’t draw me in like the others, I think it may have been because the story focused on 3 different women, and each had their own arc, though they are intersecting.
Still an enjoyable book, just…different?
Read in one day. Loved the characters and story. Went to the beach with this book and finish in one sitting. Never anything by this author and wont stop reading her books. Thank you for my advance copy of this great summer read.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I was drawn to this book by 1. The cover 2. The synopsis. I did enjoy the story I just felt like it was lacking in character development and also the story was extremely rushed. I felt like it was just boom boom boom and not enough about the characters. And if we did get to know some of the characters it was constantly repetitive about something we already heard. It is fine for a fast weekend read on vacation.
A look at friendship between some very engaging characters. It was a great beach read.
Many thanks to Wild Quail Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Old friends are the best…
Catherine “Cate” Tibbs, Brooke Ridley, and Amber Anderson, friends since they were awkward thirteen-year-olds who named themselves “The Beach Babes,” are about to face their 40th birthdays. Because they haven’t been able to get together for some time, Cate arranges for them to rent a house along the Gulf Coast of Florida for a long weekend. I enjoy stories that embrace old women and the friendships that last over the years. This is book 5 in the Seashell Cottage series and can be read as a stand alone.
This is a lovely romance by an author I was surprised I hadn't come across before but one I will be looking out for in the future. I loved the way the book focused on the long lasting friendship between three lonely girls and how over the years they continued to be there for each other. I found it refreshing that the author showed that passion is not just for the young and beautiful, that anyone at any time in their life can find love.
Great summer read, enjoyed it out by the pool! Enjoyed the story. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review!
This book is a delightful and fast read!!!!!!!!! I read this in one afternoon. I love this authors style of writing and her loveable characters!!!!!!! I will definitely check out more of her books in the future.
Super cute book that is perfect for a weekend read. You will get lost in the story as three old friends reunite and rediscover themselves and their friendship. Perfect for anyone who loves a good gal pal/ life figuring out type of book.
Cate, Brook and Amber are friends I wish I had growing up. It’s nice to read a story where they stayed friends even if they did not see each other all the time and they had a few rocky years. The deception was something I’m not sure I’d be able to handle but It was good to see it workout for the best.
When I think of literary fiction, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels. This is a perfect book to snuggle up with on any day.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review .
I really enjoyed this book, I would recommend it.
This prolific author never disappoints. You know you’re going to get a lovely story with a feel good happy ending and this book did not disappoint. Three women met at the age of thirteen and have maintained their friendship through the years. They’ve shared love, loss, their own struggles while helping each other along the way. Ride or die women who have each others backs, but in the last few months one of them is feeling a little left out and wondering why. They are all keeping what’s going on in their lives close to the vest and it doesn’t feel right so a getaway to celebrate their collective 40th birthday is planned. Of course they all eventually work it all out and there aren’t a while lot of surprises, but so what. Sometimes we all need a feel good somewhat predictable good read to get us through the week. This was in just that. Most importantly, you cannot make old friends who know who you truly are.
The Beach Babes is the name a group of three women who have been best friends since their early teen years dubbed themselves. It is present day and Cate, an author, Amber, a model, and Brooke, a mother of a son away at college and still at home twin girls,
Like so many of us, the babes, enamoured in each of their own lives, loose that tight bond they once shared. Cate, hoping to get their friendship back, desperate for a little fun and TLC, and struggling to finish her book, plans a getaway for the women in a beach house on the Gulf Coast of Florida. During this long weekend trip, each of the women share their own personal struggles and worries of the future to come. Along the way the Beach Babes reconnect and regain the support and the unbreakable bond that is a void only best friends can fill.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a beach read, and a MUST for girls trips this summer!
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Perfect Summer beach read. 3 friends turning 40 decide to spend the weekend together at Seashells Cottage. All the women have some "issues" like everyone does. I grew to really like the women and found myself involved/,moved enough to laugh and cry while reading their story! First book by this author, will be reading more.
The writing style is great and it's fantastically written. A wonderful story, beautifully told. I absolutely tore through it! A sparkling, joyful read!
Amber, Brooke and Cate, the Beach Babes, the name affectionately given to them when they were going girls. Grown up and about to hit 40 the three embark on a weekend away. They all need it, all have a lot going on and some big decisions to make. Their friendship has guided them throughout their lives and this milestone is a reminder of how much they need and love each other. Their weekend helps them make some life changing decisions and with the love and support of each other they’ll through this milestone year. I really loved this book - devoured in one day.
Another great book by Ms. Keim. I loved being introduced to Cate, Brooke, and Amber; now known as the "Beach Babes". This trio have known each other since they were 13 years old. Now approaching 40, they get together again at Seashell Cottage. All three are going through different things and meeting at the cottage put them in a good frame of mind again. The trio holds each other up and helps each other as they face issues in their lives. I loved Jackson, Paul, and Wynton as well. Hope we will be reading much more about these great characters. Thanks to Ms. Keim and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book! All opinions are strictly my own.
Cate, Amber and Brooke, friends since 13 are approaching their 40th birthday. What follows is a great story of friendship, love, loss and happiness.
This was a great beach read, perfect for the summertime. It was an engaging book which just flew by!

The Beach Babes are turning 40 this coming year and meet at the Sea Shell Cottage for a long-overdue reunion. As they discuss their lives, they realize that each is at a turning point. They agree to keep in closer touch during the coming year to lend support. Judith Keim creates such loveable, sensible characters and wonderful friendships it's hard not to put the book down. I enjoyed this book about women approaching an aging milestone with the help and support of longtime and new friends.
