I gave this book 3.5 out of 5, rounded up to 4.
I read this book very quickly, as a pretty easy going holiday read.
The story focuses on Fern, who is pregnant and has recently suffered the loss of her twin sister. It follows Fern and her husband Paul as they move into a new home and encounter some very strange happenings.

It started off very well but as the story developed and Fern and her mother in law tried to figure out the ghost goings-on, it did start to drag slightly. I had also worked out one of the ‘twists’ pretty early on, won’t go into more detail as I don’t want to do a spoiler, but it was an obvious outcome really and so not a surprise at all when revealed towards the end. All in all, this was an ok read but not particularly special.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing an advance copy in return for my honest opinion. I have also published this now on Goodreads.

I absolutely loved this book. While I love a thriller, I would normally avoid a ghost story yet this book combines the two perfectly.

Fern and Paul move into a new to them house and think they have found their dream home. But Fern begins to have nightmares about the woman who lived there previously. Then strange things start happening.

I did find it a little confusing, to begin with, but it settled down later. It didn't hold my attention though as it seemed to get bogged down in the middle as many books do. It's a thriller that morphs into a ghost story or vice-versa. Plus a bit of the supernatural for good measure. Although it's well written it didn't do it for me. Too many questions went unanswered

So, the plot follows Fern & Paul as they move into a new place, hoping for a fresh start following the death of Fern’s twin sister, Linny; especially with a baby on the way! However, when viewing the house, Fern is met with a strange woman whom no one wishes to discuss. When things start getting strange in the new house Fern starts to lose it slightly; could this be paranormal, or could it be pregnancy hormones? I had high hopes for this book. Truth be told, it was more paranormal than thriller especially in relation to Fern’s creepy dreams. The buildup throughout the book was good, albeit confusing at times. However, the ending was so abrupt like the story line seemed to just dissolve into thin air. The characters were also unlikeable except for Tina. Tina stole the show in my opinion and was the only character with substance! One thing I did like about the book was that it consistently kept you in suspense!

I'd give it 3/5.

Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for the ARC.

What a fun and twisty read! Fern is pregnant and moves to a new house after losing her twin sister. When touring the home she meets a woman and the story begins from there. I really liked Fern, I spent a lot of time empathizing with her and her grief. I loved her mother in law, at first I was unsure but she grew to be my favorite character. Her husband, however, was absolutely awful. As a character he made me so mad. But the writing is well done and easy to get into.

I spent a lot of the book trying to figure out if there were additional twists I didn't see coming. I feel like if you are an avid reader of thrillers than this will not be a huge surprise or shock factor book. It is a standard thriller and still fun to read. If you like narrators who can be a bit unpredictable and unreliable and a mystery that no one else believes in, then this book is for you!

Absolutely brilliant book. Had me hooked from the first chapter. The plot was really good. The only thing that bugged me was the road name! I found it extremely irritating.

This book was a fantastic read, I absolutely loved it , such a brilliant well written book . Such a good psychological thriller which was quite creepy at times and kept you guessing right to the end. After every chapter finished you just wanted to carry on reading, I couldn’t leave the book down. The characters were brilliant too, you felt you were living on the street too and such a good ending. Would really recommend this book as a must read.

A brilliantly written ghost story. From the first page the reader is drawn into an obsessively compelling tale of a married couple who move into a house where something sinister has taken place. The author cleverly brings the story to life with the believable characters and great twists leading to a rollercoaster of a ride.
I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a psychological thriller.

This book is a delicious psychological thriller, that is hard to put down. It is part ghost story, part murder mystery that will have you wanting to find out what in the world is happening to Fern. Having just moved into a big old house on Crenellation Lane, she is seeing people and things that no one else sees. She and her husband Paul are expecting their first child, so perhaps pregnancy hormones can explain the recurring sightings of her deceased twin, but what about the strange things that are happening at her house? Lots of relatable characters plus a very twisty mystery make this book a must read, for sure.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this advance copy to read and review.

This definitely a slow burner. To start with I struggled with it but eventually it was totally absorbing. I’d certainly recommend this book

This was a fun read with a haunted house type vibe. It centers on Fern, who moves into a new (to her) house with her husband after the death of her twin sister. Fern is pregnant and not coping well with the loss of her sister, and they determine that a fresh start will be good for her; however, almost as soon as they get there weird things start happening that has Fern questioning her sanity.

This was one of their creepy stories where you can’t tell if it’s a ghost story or if there is a reasonable explanation for the things that are happening- this is a style I enjoy. The twists and turns were good and I kept changing my mind about what I thought was really going on. Fern both frustrated and impressed me at various parts of the story, but it was her mother-in-law Tina who really stole the show and was my favorite character.

Overall, I enjoyed this one and felt that there were legitimate surprises throughout. I’d recommend this to those who like mysteries. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Soooooo good! Poor Fern and her losses and her stupid husband Paul who is the worst. I love the relationship she finds with her feisty mother-in-law!
