This so a good read. But the ending was a bit rushed and I wish the author would have written more about the ending. And not rush it. But the story was beautiful.

A book with a lesson, The Love of My Other Life, teaches how short life is with its own sci-go twist.

The book follows Josie which presents how great her life is at the start with her living in Brooklyn, having the best boyfriend and doing well in her career. When an accident happens, her life is turned upside down when she realised that all of what she thought her life was, isn’t real.

Josie then has to wrap her head around her “new” life, the stresses that comes with it, and mourn her old life.

Connolly’s book presents the reader an idea that life is very short for anyone, and anything can suddenly happen. She also shows that life maybe perfect at one end but eventually many people will eventually have to face their “realities” whether they want to or not.

This book is certainly a clever read for those in need of a semi-serious storyline that deals with some difficult topics. However, some of the writing styles within this book were difficult at times which didn’t exactly make those topics be written very well.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Laura

Sliding Doors is one of my favourite parallel life stories, that was until The Love of My Other Life!! I love the parallel storyline. Its something that has fascinated me over the years, I often wonder if we made just a tiny different choice along the way what would the effect be?

This is a very witty and charming book, a great read that keeps you guessing! Let’s you get lost in the ‘what if’ of life.

This book didn't quite meet expectations for me. It somewhat fell flat and it dragged out a tad too long. There was a lot of detail leading up to the incident that didn't really work for me. I just wanted it to happen so we could figure out what happened to both versions of Josie. I'm realizing I don't love books that take place in a 'multiverse'. They don't seem to keep my attention and it's starting to feel a bit overdone.

I also didnt love how often the terms "honey', 'love' were used. It felt like it happened every other exchange between characters. Its distracting and does NOT feel real.

Thank you to Joffe Books and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I don't know who needs to hear this. But please go and read this amazing book because the characters and storyline are some of the best in this world? I loved every moment of this book. The characters were my favorite part and I love the idea behind this main plot.

I really loved the premise of this one, and it was well written, but I struggled to get through it. I kept putting it down with no real urge to pick it back up.

Cute, fun, and different. I read this one in one sitting and think my students will highly enjoy it!

Connolly seems like a perfect person to be seated next to at a dinner party; she knows when to laugh, she has a kind word whenever it's needed, she doesn't fixate on the small details, and, most importantly, she's just good fun. All of this shows in this book.

As a British reader, it's entertaining to see how one may view American life. Whilst this British element was occasionally forced or forgotten, it made for a nice layer to Josie's character.

The main character was so fun and relatable. I loved how gripping the story was. I was tuned in from the first chapter and could not stop reading. I also really enjoyed the balance of joy and heartbreak throughout the story.

I could not put this book down and basically inhaled it over the space of two days. Don’t get me wrong, there is some heart breaking moments - but they are so well written and so believe I couldn’t be mad. The romance is heart warming and the comedic moments had me giggling to myself. I thought Josie, our main character, was incredibly relatable and I felt so much for her. It won’t be a book for everyone, but if you’re looking for a sweet read this is perfect.

Unfortunately, this one just wasn't for me. I tried to read this a few times and the premise is everything I would love however I just couldn't get into it. The writing in itself isn't bad, in fact I think it's what made the book however, I thought the pacing was too slow, the characters were a little bland and we spent too much time trying to get somewhere. I think there are definitely readers who would love this because it really is an interesting concept, it just so happens the execution wasn't for me. Given the writing style, I would definitely give this author another go.

3.75 stars!

I really liked the idea of this novel! It reminded me of a Nicholas Sparks book with the two different lives and how they were connected and I really enjoyed the author's writing style. The only thing is that I thought the message might have been a little too heavy handed.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The premise of this story if so interesting and has a lot of potential. I love the idea of switching lives with an alternate you! The characters fell a bit flat for me and I couldn't get invested in them. The story was a bit predictable and dragged on in spots, but I did appreciate the cute ending.

The Love of My Other Life by C.J. Connolly is that story of what your live would be like if all of your dreams came true. It's a story of dual universes in which one life might just be too good to be true and the life you had might just be exactly what you wanted.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

I wanted to like this one more than I was actually able to, I might come back to the audiobook next year on a roadtrip instead.

I loved the premise of The Love of My Other Life, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. The dual universes were confusing at times, and some parts of the book just felt like a slog to get through.

Wow. It took me a while to dig this out of my reading pile but I'm so glad that I did. This was such an interesting story of parallel lives.

Josie is a 37 year old ex-pat living in a nice little flat in Williamsburg. She leads a pretty unassuming life. She hosts a radio show, has choir friends, is single but pining for a guy who is in a relationship and loves her older brother dearly.

On the way to celebrate her birthday, she gets into a bike accident and wakes up in a parallel world.

Other Josie is married to a man she has never seen before, they live in a fabulous loft in Union Square and she is a comms manager for a high end real estate company. She has hair extensions, she's thin, she's fabulous.

In both worlds, she has to navigate a new life and manage her "amnesia". Will the Josies ever get back to their previous lives before the bike accidents? Will they want to?
