This is the first book I’ve read in the Cornish Midwife series and I shall now go back and read the others. I didn’t feel I missed out and the book stands alone. The characters are easy to love and follow especially Izzy a midwife and Noah the local Vicar. Although fairly predictable it’s a great love story and emotionally moving.
this is the first book i have read by jo bartlett and the cornish midwives it gave me tears and smiles and is such a good hearted book to read i have another book in my kindle collection to read about the midwives and if it is as good as the one i have just read it will be a joy to read
Thank you to NetGalley for this copy.
This is a really sweet read,
I would thoroughly recommend to all.
Gosh, what an amazing tear jerker read this proved to be
Get the tissues ready when you read it if you're anything like me!
With lots of different threads, skilfully entwined,
Such an emotive read, the sort that stays in your mind.
It deals with some difficult issues in such a moving way,
A terminally ill loved one, making the most of every day,
A vicar struggling with his beliefs and faith but is so kind,
As well as grieving parents needing support to find.
Add in life's 'normal' events, and the paparazzi, too,
No wonder Izzy and Noah are unsure just what to do!
With so many challenges, it's hard to know what to say
But this is a fantastic story, with love and laughter along the way.
For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This book focuses on another of the midwives in the Cornish village whilst including all our favourite characters and bringing new ones into the mix, including Pablo, Noah's little dog who is a character in his own right! Izzy has been brought up by her grandparents and this book adds some emotional moments as Eileen's illness progresses alongside the ups and downs of the pregnancies and births scattered throughout the story. I particularly enjoyed Noah's story too, his questions about his own beliefs and faith were handled sensitively and will touch a cord in anyone who has a strong religious faith without the book preaching.
I enjoyed this book more than the previous one, it was realistic and interesting. I think I'm also getting into the characters more, as often happens with a series, I look forward to the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley for this copy. This is a really good book, kept me entertained throughout and I would thoroughly recommend to all.

That was a fun read, I really enjoyed it.
Absolutely love this series
It’s a series that just pulls you in and you don’t won’t to leave
Each book is all about a particular midwife
If you want a really good series to start reading this is the one
Thanks NetGalley
It’s easy to see why so many readers have fallen under the spell of Port Agnes and the Cornish midwives. Jo Bartlett’s wonderfully poignant, engrossing and emotional series continues to go from strength to strength and the latest installment, A Leap of Faith For the Cornish Midwife, is a hopeful and feel-good page-turner guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings.
Midwife Izzy is devastated when she hears the news that her beloved grandmother is dying. When her mother had abandoned her as a baby, Izzy’s grandparents had taken her in and given her a home. They are the only family she has ever known and it breaks Izzy’s heart to know that she doesn’t have much time left with her grandmother. In desperate need of comfort and support, she turns to local vicar Noah for help, unaware that the locum has got problems of his own to contend with…
Kind, considerate and gentle Noah is always there willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear when needed. Nothing is too much trouble for Noah and knowing how much support Izzy needs at the moment, he is always there ready to dispense advice and offer a kind word when needed. But lately Noah has found himself grappling with his faith. He has been having doubts about his future in the church and he cannot help but wonder just how much help he can be to his parishioners when he cannot find strength and comfort in the words he is using to soothe the locals of Port Agnes.
When Izzy and Noah are brought together to comfort grieving parents, they both come to a startling realization. Noah can no longer stay in Port Agnes where he is constantly haunted by his old life as a vicar whilst Izzy cannot imagine ever living anywhere else. Can Izzy and Noah find a way to be together even if all the odds are stacked against them? Or is Izzy going to end up heartbroken and disappointed?
Jo Bartlett’s books aim for the heart and do not miss! A Leap of Faith for the Cornish Midwife is a heartwarming story that will make readers laugh and cry. A touching, dramatic and emotional tale about love, loss, grief and hope, A Leap of Faith for the Cornish Midwife is told with sensitivity, compassion and plenty of heart.
Izzy and Noah are two wonderful characters that readers will care for. They are mature, complex and believable protagonists I couldn’t help but become invested in and while reading the book, I kept everything crossed that love would find a way to keep them together.
With A Leap of Faith for the Cornish Midwife, Jo Bartlett has written an enjoyable and uplifting romantic treat that makes for required summer reading.
I am absolutely loving this series and was super excited to get to visit the wonderful midwives again. During this visit we spend more time with Izzy who we've briefly been introduced to in the past.
As Izzy and her Grandparents relocate for summer, Izzy becomes acutely aware of the life firsts that she is going to miss out on with her Grandmother. Which in turn makes her even more determined to spend time with her and make the most of the time they do have.
With the addition of some new characters including the latest arrival for Bobby & Toni. Plus the ever popular Reverend Noah who is stepping in for summer, it was great to get to know some different characters.
What is there not to love in this heartfelt series, each book is full of emotion as we spend time and go through the highs and lows with these wonderful ladies and their families.
This book is a brilliant addition to the series, but oh my goodness did it make me cry at points! Despite reducing me to emotional rubble, I could not put it down and still finished feeling warm and fuzzy, if a bit puffy eyed. The issues are handled sensitively and the warm, community feeling wraps you in a big hug. I can't wait for the next installment.
I am really enjoying the Cornish Midwife’s series of book . Jo has written a fantastic series, Beautiful settings which come alive to the reader, a strong sense of community and strong storylines .
This book is probably my favourite book so far, it causes a rollercoaster of emotions , you will laugh and you will cry. This book is an outstanding read which I highly Recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Jo Bartlett for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
Izzy is one of the latest Midwife’s to join the Port Agnes team, she always brought up by her doting grandparents, so when they suggest they all share a houseboat for summer Izzy is thrilled.
Eileen, Izzy’s Nona, is terminally ill and wants to spend her final months by the sea with her granddaughter. While in Port Agnes she joins in the community and comfort of the church finding a friend in the new locum vicar Noah. Izzy also finds a new friend in Noah, who is trying to escape a social media presence, as the hot vicar, that he didn’t ask for.
In the coming months Izzy and Noah are going to need one another’s support more than they care to admit.
I alway enjoy returning to Port Agnes. This was a lovely addition to the series.
Another fantastic instalment in this series. These books just don’t come quick enough for my liking. Highly recommended.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I find it difficult to articulate just how thrilled I am to have been granted the privilege to read the latest offering in the unparalleled Cornish Midwife series; a new opportunity to showcase the fabulous work of Jo Bartlett.
I found it poignant that the book was dedicated to the relationships between Grandchildren and Grandparents, so I feel compelled to mention my late Grandmother, Maisie. She was very much a family woman and especially adored the young children in our family. She worked in the merchant navy in the laundry but I could have imagined her in a caring career, such as midwifery.
I liked the face that this book concentrated on one main character from the same midwifery practice as the other books. Izzy’s story is bitter-sweet and I just yearned for something positive to come from her relationship with her Mother. Izzy’s relationship with her Grandparents was second to none and I loved how their affection defied age boundaries. i felt sad that Izzy’s grandmother had cancer, yet pleased that they were able to make the nest of the time they had left. Noah the vicar was a welcome character and I adored how he he built up relationships with both Izzy and her Grandparents. I found the fact that Noah questioned his vocation refreshing. As for James and his Wife – I have no words.
In all this book had everything – fun, romance, love, tragedy, but those united to make this a fantastic, uplifting read – surely worthy of its own tv series.
Talk about getting emotional it was like a roller coaster. I have laughed I have cried. A brilliant story.
I don't want to give any thing away but you just have to read it.
Wonderful… It gripped me from the first page until the last. The characters are so amazing… This story kept me glued all the way through… Phenomenal… Outstanding
Izzy’s grandma is terminally ill but it didn’t deter Eileen from renting a houseboat in Port Agnes for the summer to be closer to her. Eileen enjoyed tending to her flowers and found herself at St Jude doing what she love to do. Noah, a temporary pastor in the absence of Reverend Sampson found formed a friendship with Eileen which at first suspicious of the friendship between them. But Eileen’s health began to deteriorate, it was Noah that Izzy sought support from. Noah is fighting his own demon and he is struggling in trusting God.
This is an emotional read for me with good balance of warmth yet uplifting and well balance emotion between negative and positive feeling when the loved one’s is facing life and death situation. Love to see both Izzy and Noah’s relationship blossom at the end of the book.

This series just gets better and better and as I finish each story I think...ooh, that was my favourite, but this time I really do think that A Leap of Faith for the Cornish Midwife is quite special as it made me laugh, and cry, in equal measure.
We first met the lovely midwife, Izzy, in the previous book but in A Leap of Faith for the Cornish Midwife we really get to know so much more about her and her lovely grandparents, who are renting a houseboat in Port Agnes, especially as Izzy's beloved Nonna Eileen wants to experience the beauty of the seaside in the final few months of her life. The friendliness of this cosy community, the midwives who run the small maternity hospital, and particularly, Noah, the new locum vicar at St Jude's, all combine to make this such a delightful read.
The story covers a whole range of hard hitting topics, from homelessness, to terminal illness, stillbirth and heart rending grief, but does so in a lovely compassionate way so that whilst the sadness is very realistic there is still hope and a measure of joy. Everything is done with such fine attention to detail and having worked as both a midwife and a palliative care professional I can vouch that the medical details are sensitively, and accurately, depicted.
The author has invested so much love into these stories, which are so beautifully written, that the series has power to just run and run. I can't see the Cornish Midwives ever getting stale as there is still so much to explore especially as new midwives join the practice and the established ones continue to live their lives with partners and families.
Whilst it's perfectly possible to read A Leap of Faith for the Cornish Midwife as a standalone, it does make sense to start at the beginning and get to know the Cornish midwives, the magical coastal town of Port Agnes and all the lovely characters who call this little Cornish town their home.
A lovely summer read with likeable characters and a wonderful story arc I had a lovely weekend reading this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the novel.
