This is an absolutely beautiful picture book. The drawings of the lion family are adorable. The story told from a lion cub's POV is enjoyable and educational. The book also includes photos of real lions, a facts section, and questions. Young children will love this book.
I would recommend it for storytime programs in libraries or classrooms.

I originally requested this book based off the cover illustrations and I was not disappointed! This book is so adorably illustrated while educating the reader about the life of lions! It follows a young cub explaining what it's like to grow up in a pride of lions. Have you ever seen a cute photo of a bunch of lions eating a carcass? I hadn't either until this book. I would recommend this to any young animal lover!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for a chance to review this ARC.

What a brilliant way to introduce the msgestic lion cub and its family to kids. With wonderful illustrations and great storytelling, hopefully this will increase awareness of the wonders of the king of the jungle and reduce future hunting.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is an adorable picture book that shows what goes on in a day, in the life of Little Lion. She introduces us to her family and explains each job members of the pride do to keep the pride safe and healthy.

Little Lion is well written with thorough descriptions and it's packed full of educational materials that aren't too overwhelming. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. I loved all the activities, fun facts and games at the end of the book. This proves a multi-sensory learning experience, so the kids could dive in and get their hands dirty. I'm looking forward to more A Day in the Life books.

That said, my rating is lower because of how difficult it was reading the text font. Wouldn't recommend it for dyslexic children. (I'm not dyslexic)

Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group, for providing me with a digital ARC for an honest review.

A really sweet book full of lovely, bright illustrations, not only will your child enjoy the story but they will learn a little about lions in the wild too! The story is told from Little Lion's perspective and while full of information about his day, the author has done a really good job to make it age appropriate and not overwhelming.

I haven't come across this series before, but think young children will really enjoy it, as well as the fun facts, project ideas and quiz at the end of the book, which is a lovely bonus..

Read that book yesterday to my boys 3 and 5 years old. We really liked it. A very nice written book to learn about lions 🦁 the illustration is beautiful and the extra bits at the end of the book great. I'm definitely going to get the book in print for us at home and one for the daycare I work. Totally recommend it, specially for preschool age.

This is such a great children's book! Easy to read, beautiful illustrations, and I love the facts and games at the end of the book is a fun addition to this book!

The book length was an appropriate length for young children. Again the illustrations are beautiful! From a mother’s perspective, I enjoyed seeing the end of the book including facts and other real life lions and having that connection between the real and the illustrated story that came before.

I would absolutely buy this book for my children!

Babes and Kids and Meows and Wuffs!
This book is so damn freaking cute!

If you are someone who's life revolves around The Lion King when it comes to anything lion, or maybe you needn't be, this book is amazing!

The cover, the pages, the information, the artstyle and the colours and the lion family are perfect!

Please do the kids a favour. Please take a sneak, you adults.

I need to calm down. This book is really good I mean. And so darn beautiful.

Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group - QEB Publishing, for the advance review copy.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing/QEB Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's nonfiction book. This has nice graphics and great exercises at the back to try. Nicely done 3.5 stars The life from the eyes of a lion cub.

Review to come July 3rd on my blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

Lions are just adorable and I just had to check out this cute book about a little cub and the pride he lives in. Plus, that cover was so cute and I love how it looks like the little cub has a big shiny mane!

In this book we meet Little Lion, a tiny cub with whom/who we are spending the day! I was excited to see all the fun things the lions got up to in their daily lives and wondered if it would be mostly non-fiction, or if the facts were interwoven with the story. I can tell you that it was a nice blend of facts with cute story! We follow this cub through her day and see her play, find water, learn new things, tell us happily about her big brothers and her father and mother, there is even an exciting moment. It was all very cute and fun and I even learned two new things (that lion cubs hide in trees and that if there is no water that lions drink from plants).

I was a bit surprised that our little lion was a girl! Again, as I said about the cover, I thought that the sun was its mane so I thought naturally it would be a boy.

After the story there are extras! From fun facts to some great puzzles to how to help lions to crafts. I always love it when authors add extras to their books. So that gets some extra bonus points from me.

The art by Carmen Saldana were just so cute and lovely, I really love the style and while lions are dangerous I often just wanted to pop into the book to give them a cuddle. XD

All in all, a very cute and adorable book with tons of facts and great extras. Recommended!

This book shows a typical day and some key events in a lion cub's life, such as hunting, spending time with family and the other animals that they live among.

There are beautiful full-colour illustrations, using an ideal colour palette that is bright and captivating but portrays a degree of accuracy in the scenes. Each lion has an adorable and easily-understandable facial expression, which helps endear the story to children and aid their comprehension. The images show the reality of wild animals, like the consumption of raw meat and attacking other animals, in a tasteful manner.

The text is perfect for a study into lions, making this ideal for use within educational settings as a part of a unit of work or as a class read. It delivers a digestible amount of information that can promote curiosity and develop further discussion. This is continued by the fact file which combines interesting lion facts along with photographs to show lions in their natural habitat. From a grammar standpoint, all of the text is written in short sentences, eliminating the need for higher-level punctuation and aiding clarity. The book does not use the classic font used for children to read (from an academic viewpoint) but one that is still easily decipherable for emerging readers.

At the end of the book is a selection of games, crafts and other activities for children to try, each relating in some way to the topic. They are well-presented with clear instructions and, helpfully, don't all require many additional resources.

The topic and writing style make this ideal for reading to five to ten-year-olds. From the vocabulary used and how much of it is phonetically decodable, a child would be about seven years old to read this independently or with minimal support.

Little Lion is a cute book from the perspective of a young lion cub who takes us through a day in her life. This story made me want to watch The Lion King again!

Little Lion is chock full of lion facts but in an easy to digest way for young readers. I enjoy that the young lion cub speaks to the reader as though we are friends and want to know more about her life. Young readers would be able to quench their curiosity about lions by reading this book. The fun facts, little games, and quiz at the end of the story are great ways to keep children engaged and actively thinking through what they've learned through their reading.

I can see myself using this cute book as an introduction before an animal unit in my classroom. Anna Brett has other "day in the life of" books and I can't wait for more to add to my classroom library! Thank you NetGalley and QEB Publishing for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Fiona, Love at the Zoo is a children's picture book that showcases the way animals showcase love, but also allowed me to learn about how I absolutely peacocks and their dramatic poses - who knew?

The cover artwork is beautiful, which reflects all of the illustrations throughout the pages.

Meeting not only hippos, but giraffes, monkeys, swans, and more there's an array of animals to learn about. We follow Fiona as she learns about how other animals at the zoo show their love with each other.

The artwork as mentioned about the cover earlier is stunning. The animals depicted are realistic, but also are shown in a way where they look in love and happy. Also, the red pandas and porcupines are adorable and now I want to hug one. New life goal!

What a delightful children's book. Learning about different ways that animals share their love was really interesting! Some of which I didn't know - for instance giraffes entangling themselves in an embrace.

5 Stars. Would recommend for any family with a little one or even a bit older kids as it'd be a great bedtime story that also children can learn about wildlife.

Thanks to the publisher, QEB Publishing, an imprint of The Quarto Group, the author and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC copy to read and review. Review will also be posted to my blog (www.kagoodsell.com/book-reviews), GoodReads, TikTok (@unearthingeco), as well as NetGalley reviews.

Well, this should be a big success, and hopefully many other animals get the same treatment in time. (I think we've had a bee and a platypus in this series, only, so far.) While I wasn't too sure about it being from the first-person point of view of a cute lion cub at first, it's done because it's pitched really young, and because the cub is an ideal guide to tell us what the family is doing, what she feels and enjoys during the day, and how the whole daytime period pans out. A good few pages at the end are more academic, discussing conservation and so on, but come complete with puzzles to extend the book's use, if the cute narrative wasn't enough already. A very well-presented, easily-read primer to many people's favourite big cat – a strong four stars.

A very cute story about the day in the life of a lion cub! From morning to night, it details what a day might be like for a cub in a lion pride. The illustrations are so cute. At the end, there are facts, games, and even a craft for kids.

Very cute!

Little Lion is a really cute book to learn more about lions, their habitat, and their rituals. I liked all the illustrations and the fun and spunky nature of the main cub (narrator). This book also contains lots of activities to do after reading the book, which is always a bonus!
