Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of "How to Kiss Your Best Friend" by Jenny Proctor.
I loved this contemporary romance. There was no spice - which was perfect for me. And each character clearly had a good head on their shoulders and were such amazing human beings. This love story was about a 19 year old friendship and how love is always out there. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.

Rating: 3.5 stars rounded up to four.
Brody has been in love with Kate since they first met on the school bus. They haven’t talked in four years at the beginning of the story, but when Kate visits town after her setting the world in order to sell her childhood home, they reconnect and Kate realizes she might feel the same way.
I’m a sucker for a friends to lover story, although this one did fall a bit flat for me in some areas. It felt like their relationship moved weirdly fast for friends who hadn’t talked in four years and I liked Kate’s internal monologue into deciding to stay with Brody, but it felt like everything fell into place too conveniently.
Also a note for the publisher: when Kate is reading the note her mom left her at the house, the note portion was deleted.

Oh man, I don’t know that I can properly convey how much I loved this book. I have to admit that I really didn’t like Kate’s character to start. I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that she was letting an amazing guy like Brody, slip through her fingers. But once you get into the book, you really learn about the the things in her life that we’re holding her back and you really do start to feel for her. I absolutely adored Brody. He just seemed like such the perfect guy and I could have read his side of the story for even longer. The author also does such an incredible job of describing the landscape of the book to the point that I could actually visualize everything that I was reading. This is definitely a must read if you’re looking for something light and fluffy (which is exactly what I needed.) I will say that there really isn’t any spicy scenes in the book but they honestly aren’t needed. I really did love this book so much.

How to Kiss Your Best Friend is a sweet, swoon-worthy romance story! I fell in love with Brody who is just so dang adorable. I'm a sucker for childhood friends-to-lovers stories and Jenny Proctor wrote a hit!
Brody and Kate are childhood friends who lose touch after Kate goes off to explore the world. When all of a sudden she's back in town, things between the two seems a bit different, maybe for the better?! I really enjoyed the dual POVs as we get a clearer picture of both Brody and Kate. You can't help but root for the both of them through their journey to one another.
This book would be perfect for fans of Sarah Adams. Thank you NetGalley and Four Petal Press for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

The story
Kate left her small town soon after finishing school and has been travelling the world working as a freelance travel writer. But her best friend from school, Brody has always loved her and struggled to hold relationships down for very long, no one ever matches up to Kate. It doesn’t help that he can follow her movements through her writing and social media. Brady’s now a chemistry teacher who has spent a fair amount of time doing white water kayaking and starting up a programme to help school kids learn kayaking too. When Kate returns to town to help sort out her late grandmother’s house, Brody now lives three houses away. But her feelings for him seem to have changed too.
My thoughts
I always feel like the friends to lovers romances story can either be done really well or suffer from a frustrating amount of miscommunication. I enjoyed how, in this story, Kate’s tendency to run away when threatened was knocked on its head when she discovers the true story about her family’s past. I love how Brody is so restrained with her and the dual POV really helps in this story. The side stories about Kate and Brody’s hobbies lend a great flavour to the story. It’s a total cutie 🥰

Thank you NetGalley and Four Petal Press for this advanced readers copy .
Brody has been in love with his best friend Kate since he was 11 years old, but she never felt the same. As soon as she graduated college, Kate ran off to be a travel writer, but Brody never stopped thinking about or loving her. It has been 4 years since Brody has spoken to Kate and now she’s back. Kate is lost and doesn’t know what she wants out of her life, but her sudden attraction to Brody surprises her. When a sudden passionate kiss happens between them, it only confuses Kate’s feelings even more. Will she finally let go and allow herself to be loved and love, or will she run when things get to real.
This was an adorable book. Brody made my heart melt over and over . He is such a truly passionate guy who loves with all of his heart. His love for Kate is truly incredible but heartbreaking all at once . It’s truly refreshing to see a man who is so in tune with his feelings, but at the same time struggles to share his true feelings. It shows that it can be difficult to be vulnerable in that sense.
Kate is the biggest misunderstanding within herself. She always felt like a failure to her mother and how she wasn’t wanted or loved. She felt connected to her dad and felt that they were one in the same. Kate feels she isn’t good enough for Brody and that she will only break his heart because she isn’t capable of staying in one place. She learned to let go of all of her own insecurities and let love in.
I did wish Brody learned to let go a lot quicker, but I felt that it would of taken away from
His true character. I wish Kate could of seen that she was deserving of being loved earlier, but that was her journey to take. They both took their own journey separately as well as together. 4.5 stars for me. I cannot wait to read the other brothers stories .

I really really loved this book! It hooked me from the very beginning and kept me hooked the entire time. So sweet and romantic, and I loved their banter!

Jenny Proctor is a new to me author, but after reading How To Kiss Your Best Friend, I immediately went to Amazon and downloaded a few more of her books on Kindle Unlimited. She's definitely one that I am excited to read more from in the future.
I must admit it was the title of this one that drew me in. I was looking for a lighthearted contemporary romance, and this one seemed like it would fit the bill... and it most certainly did that. Yes, there is some drama and conflict that Brody and Kate had to work through, but the romance was absolutely fantastic. I love a good friends to more romance, and this one was done well. I loved their easy friendship and the transition to more was so enjoyable... and oh the chemistry... it just leaped off the pages!! The kisses were passionate and swoon-worthy. (Because I do primarily review Christian novels, I find it important to note that this does not fall into that category. That said, it was still a very clean read. While the kisses might be a little steamy, it does not go any further than that.)
Overall, I found this to be a fun, quick read. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series. If you enjoy a good romantic comedy with swoon-worthy kisses, this is certainly one to check out.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Romantic, delightful, and a captivating page turner! How To Kiss Your Best Friend is straight-up, pure romantic comedy, and it’s so good. This heartfelt story of reunited best friends is warm, delightfully funny, and masterfully crafted. I loved everything about it. The friends to lovers trope here was done extremely well, and right from the very beginning I found myself fully immersed in this story.
Brody and Kate’s story brims with charm and humour and is yet grounded by an emotional depth that strikes just the right notes. It was a multi-layered, engaging read with great characters that I absolutely adored, totally immersing me in Brody and Kate’s friendship as well as their journey to their HEA. I loved their strong chemistry and the dynamics between these two. This book was full of one-sided pining that eventually led to a mutual pining, inside jokes and amazing chemistry. The romantic tension between Brody and Kate was just so well done and I was sold on them as a couple almost immediately. I felt like they knew and understood each other so intimately and it honestly was so swoon worthy. I was definitely rooting for a happily ever after ending for the both of them.
Jenny Proctor is solidifying herself as one of my favourite authors with each new book she writes. How To Kiss Your Best Friend is such a special book for me. It's a story of friendship, family, love, and finding yourself. It was swoony, made me smile, and made me feel so much. It was an absolute pleasure reading this lighthearted rom-com. Some parts of this story really touched and moved me, either putting a huge smile on my face or making me a bit teary eyed. I loved it to pieces and I can't recommend it enough!
