this was a fantastic book, couldnt stop reading it, I read it in 1 day
I feel in love with this book and these characters sooo quick. so attached to the whole lot of them
I def need a series with a book from all the brothers
Best friends to lovers in a small town
it had it all and for the romance, it was sweet clean and full on chemistry
This relationship between Kate and Brody is awesome you just know that there is much more between them than just friends and they just either are too scared to admit it or don't want anything to mess up their friendship
you know the thing where you rather be friends than nothing that was all over this story, I can def relate to this and it hit home
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an advance copy of this book, soooo glad that I got to read it and now I am hooked into this whole "families story" the above thoughts and opinions are my own and I voluntarily give them.

i loved this story!! friends to lovers where the guy falls first is such a good trope! and this was done so well. both characters really thought about their feelings and their friendship before rushing into anything. and the small town vibes were everything. As a chemistry major, i loved that Brody was a chemistry teacher and kate’s love of travel and social media was such a fun addition to the story!

I love a good best friends-to-lovers trope (a product of being a teenager in the 90s, I'm sure), but as much as I loved this premise, it just didn't deliver what I had hoped for.
I found the inner dialogue to be exhausting; no one talks to themselves this much- especially during a face-to-face conversation. The inner dialogue is verbose and repetitive and it just became super annoying.
I really wish that I had liked Kate more. She had a lot of likable qualities, but her constant, exhausting inner dialogue and indecisivness got old, fast. Brody is an aw-shucks likable guy, so it's hard not to root for him, but I felt bad for him getting steamrolled by his best friend of 19 years before she suddenly has this"aha!" epiphany that maybe she loves him or is it mostly his abs and biceps???
I know that it's been a long time since they've talked to each other/seen each other, but I would have really liked more inside jokes, banter, funny stories from their past- the reminiscing that you would naturally do with your childhood best friend! In lieu of sparks and steam, that friendship connection could have been portrayed stronger. I will say that they display more of that best friend behavior further into the book, but not enough, imo.
Overall, a tad too light and fluffy for my personal taste, but if that's what you're after, it's cute.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Four Petal Press for sharing this digital ARC with me in exchange for my honest review. Cheers!

Loved this! A fast read. Cute with great angst. Characterization was sound with just the right depth.

A hometown boy with a head for numbers and a travel journalist who fears commitment make the perfect romantic pairing for a sweet summer read. Add in the fact that they were best friends who drifted apart, he has the ideal, imperfect family, and she is ready to settle down, and How to Kiss Your Best Friend just rose to the top of my beach read list. With fun supporting characters, an enjoyable narrative, and a believable storyline, this will be a series to add to your list.

thank you, NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review

" I thought about you every day kate, I never stopped thinking about you."

Brody has been in love with Kate since he met her, but after high school, she left to travel the world and hasn't returned. Yet Brody has held a torch for her all this time. With one text, Kate brings his world to a halt when she finally comes home 10 years later to see her grandmother's home.

This book was super cute and clean small town, best friends to lovers romance. Kate and brody had the curest relationship and I loved their dynamic so so much. I love how brody always loved kate and how kind and understanding he was towards her.

Overall this book was adorble and fast paced with one of the cutest romances I've read.

I loved this book. It was engaging, heart warming and just bloody lovely! It makes no bones about being a friends to lovers story and does it so well. Brody has loved Kate for 7000+ days but always been firmly in the friend zone until she returns after a 4 year absence. Seeing them both navigate their changing relationship, and Kate having to work out what she wants from life in general, is at times frustrating (just kiss already!) but always interesting. The whole Hawthorne family sound amazing and the whole story line and plot kept me hooked. I read the whole book in a weekend and would have done so even faster if my small children hadn’t needed parenting! I think my favourite bit was there being an epilogue. So often books like this end with the “happily ever after” but with no detail to it- so the last chapter was probably my favourite, and I wish more Romance writers included them. I’m very pleased to hear there’s a second in the series- I’ll be buying it!

A super cute, clean love story with all the feels! You’ll love the Brody. He feels like the guy all girls want once we tire of the bad boys. His personality jumps off the pages right from the start. Actually all the brothers do! This book has all feels with none of the “bed details” (ha!) so it’s appropriate for young adults as well.

This book was one of my favourite reads of this year! The author does a great job balancing the humour and emotional depth in this story and I think I might just have to read it again because I can't get over it!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 4/5 stars.

Thanks Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me the chance to read this book!
I love the Stonebook farm!!! I also really love Brody and Kate’s relationship, it’s so fluffy and sometimes heart wrenching. I read it in over a day, very light and cute read! I love how supportive and loyal Brody’s family is especially Olivia, she’s so protective of her brother it was so cute! Almost every Hawthorne was protective of Brody and it melts me everytime. If you love childhood best friends- to - lovers this book will be right up your alley! It was definitely mine :)

" "Seven thousand, one hundred, and forty-five days" he whispers into my throat, his lips close to my ear. I lean back, catching his eye. "What's that?" "That's how many days I've loved you." "
This book stars Kate and Brody. They have been best friends for years. They have the most beautiful and wholesome friends to lovers story. There were so many amazing aspects about this book. One of my favorite things would be all the details of nature. You get to imagine these adventures the characters are going. Brody teachers white water kayaking. While you're reading these scenes, you feel like you are there with him since the text is very descriptive. When Kate talks about all of the places she has traveled to, you feel like you have been there with her as well.
A huge pro for this book would be the family aspect. Brody grew up in a big family. You get to see each of his family members throughout the book. You got to learn things about them and got to see their true personalities. I would love to see more about his family members. They were all so close. It gave me a heart warming feeling knowing how much they care about each other and that they would do anything for each other.
There was one thing about this book that was not my favorite. Throughout the book Kate is torn on if she should stay in Silver Creek or not. She is not sure what she wants to do with her life. At first I enjoyed it. I wanted to know what she was thinking. I wanted to know how she felt about staying and living her her hometown. However, this got to be pretty repetitive. It would get mentions multiple times in every chapter. I just wanted to see her make up her mind.
This is the first book I have ever read from Jenny Proctor. I am so glad and thankful that I got approved for this arc. I will definitely be checking out more of her books since I enjoyed this one so much.

This was truly a slow-burn romance. I loved the story though and the characters. It was a fun rom-com and I really wanted to read more books by Proctor. There was so much happening in the story but it was really easy to keep track of. I loved the jealousy, I know makes me a bad person, but it was fun seeing the female MC figure out her feelings. The male MC was such a great guy, I just loved everything about him.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was absolutely adorable and I loved every minute of it! I always said enemies to lovers was elite… but im finding out that I adore friends to lovers too! Esp a second chance type of romance 😍
Im obsessed with the farm life that’s portrayed and how vastly different- yet similar?- the brothers are. Brody is completely swoon worthy & I loved that this book was dual POV so we can see how long he’s pined for Kate and what his family thought about it too.
I also loved the adventure aspect of this!! There’s so much going on that’s so intriguing that the romance just completely blends in and is the cherry on top to a very well done story. Both our main characters have such interesting jobs, it was really fun to read about them.
Can’t wait for the next installment 😍
Thank you for the ARC ♥️

This was my first Jenny Proctor book and it definitely won’t be my last!! Here are just a few things I loved about this book:
*friends to lovers trope ❣️
*great family dynamics 🏡
*clean romance with great chemistry 😍
*several kiss scenes 😘
*one laugh out loud window scene 😉
This book was so fun! I absolutely loved Brody and Kate. Their chemistry was great. I also loved Kate’s “aha moment”. I’m ready to read more in this series!!

This was such a sweet and clean story. I loved how easily they fell back into their friendship even after not talking to each other for years. Brody is such a sweet guy, and they were just absolutely adorable together. I kind of wanted to know a little more about what the article Kate wrote said, and I definitely wouldn't complain about a littttle more spice. Overall, I loved it!

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC publication for an honest review.
How to Kiss Your Best Friend
by Jenny Proctor
Pub Date: 24 May 2022
One of my favorite tropes...best friends who find love! This was a quick, super sweet read. Brody has been in love with Kate forever. It seems like everyone knows it, but Kate. When Kate comes back after a four-year absence, she starts to see Brody in a different light. This was such a fun story!

You know when you pick up a book by Ms. Proctor you are in for warm, fuzzy feels and a good time. This book was no different! This was a sweet, clean, romantic comedy full of angst and romance that will curl your toes but with closed-door steam. This is the first book of the Hawthorne brothers series and it is off to a brilliant start!
Kate and Brody are best friends. He has been in love with her since elementary school, but Kate never felt that way about him. Kate has always been interested in travelling but Brody is more of a homebody. When she comes back to town to sort through her grandmother's things, Brody just might get his chance with her. But with her tendency to keep moving around, Brody's brothers warn him to proceed with caution because they don't want to see him get his heart broken.
The characters were absolutely adorable. I liked how close the Hawthorne brothers were how they looked out for each other.
I found this to be a thoroughly entertaining and adorable story and am glad I had the opportunity to read it. The storyline had a nice smooth flow and the romance was wonderful and there were plenty of humorous moments that had me laughing out loud or just generally left me with a smile on my face. Wonderful characters and an engaging storyline will keep you captivated till the end. This is a lovely story and I'm happy to recommend!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for the ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #HowtoKissYourBestFriend #NetGalley
This is a classic romance formula, which is totally fine because it serves its purpose to entertain. I can already see the sequels for all the single Hawthorne brothers. My only issue is the verisimilitude. I don't think some things are very realistic, and I know romance novels aren't always known for their realism, but this book's unrealistic tendencies were distracting enough to pull me out of the story. I don't see the big deal with Kate and her mom. And the whole story is linchpinned on this big fight between Kate and her mom. I'm sure there was trauma in Kate's backstory with her parents, but it's so flippantly stated that it doesn’t resonate as anything major. Then, personally, I didn't like that Kate and Brody were instantly hot for each other from the very beginning. By doing that, the plot lost some of its momentum because there's no slow burn of the relationship of the plot. What's the rising action? Where's the tension? And those are not sexual innuendos. In addition, since they both love each other from the start the bulk of the story is them telling everyone they don't love each other, but they do and they can't be mature to say something. I guess I don't feel there was a good enough reason for just one of them to admit their feelings sooner. Everyone can see they like each other, but they don't and it got annoying. However, the kissing scenes were steamy and the happy ending was still much appreciated. And actually, the second half of the book was better then the first.

I really enjoyed the hero of this story. I loved how he adopted characteristics that society would view as more feminine, which ultimately made him a more attractive man. I didn’t like the heroine. She came across as selfish and whiny. A lot of her issues existed for no reason. Regardless, the author managed to take a commonly used troupe and make it original. Definitely a book I would re-read in the future.

I thought it was great how we started with Brody's point of view, and how this novel focused on the guy pining over the girl first, and his thoughts. Kate came along liking him later, but who wouldn't?
This was such a cute summer read! Though predictable, Kate and Brody falling for one another gave me all the fluff and fulfilled my romantic heart in the way I needed. Sometimes, it's nice knowing that you'll get a happy ending.
Some of the things I really liked about this book was small town romance, best friends to lovers, and guy falling first. The family dynamics in here were wonderful to read, along with the character development that Kate went through. I also loved how kayaking is introduced here, because it's a sport that isn't often focused on, and I loved reading about it!
If you're looking for a cute, quick read - whether in your house or on the beach or on the plane - this is the book!
