Entertaining whodunnit introducing a likable pair of detectives. The mystery held my attention though was a bit unrealistic at times. As a guy who grew up around Northwestern Connecticut and upstate New York, I thoroughly enjoyed the setting of the story.
This was a gripping read right from the start, it was twisty and unpredictable and kept me guessing until the end. Suspenseful, atmospheric and fast paced. A great read.
A new author for me and the start of a new series. A really good psychological thriller which centres around a very dysfunctional family. Full of misdirection and intrigue. Sprinkled with humour. This is a family that loves money, The story is full of one up manship and plenty of infighting. Full of tension and suspense and thoroughly entertaining. Loved it!!

A master of murder, mystery, mayhem does it again.
A brilliant psychological thriller ... difficult to put down as it kept you hooked from page one. The layered character development of all the participants in the novel was outstanding. It was tense, thrilling and exciting ... plenty of humour, twists and turns, and scares. The two detectives investigating the murder attempt are just 'out of this world' and I cannot wait for the second book in the series. Mark Mills and Joffe Books have created the best thriller of 2022 and it is more than worthy of five (5) stars.
Twisty and thrilling, a story of family secrets and divisions where anyone could be the guilty party. Mark Mills always writes gripping stories with plausible characters and this is no exception. The 2 Detectives are a good combination bouncing ideas off each other as well as droll remarks. Lots of fast action and always clearly described so that it is easy to visualize and feel the tension ratchet up. I greatly look forward to reading more Mark Mills. Thanks to Joffe and Netgalley for this free ARC and a very enjoyable read in return for an unbiased review.
