I really enjoyed this book by Ilsa Madden-Mills. I really loved Francesca and Tuck , I loved the side characters and really found myself laughing a lot during this book. I really did enjoy the plot as well, They both have been through a lot since they were kids. It really broke my heart on how Tuck saw himself, but Francesca helped him through his insecurities. I really felt their chemistry, I cannot wait to read more by Ilsa!
4.3 stars
Francesca and Tuck were both good characters and I liked them. They actually grew on me more and more the longer I read the book. I truly enjoyed the side characters and I feel that they made the book for me much more enjoyable. This felt different than most of Ilsa's books. It leaned more one the purely sexual side than her others which isn't a bad thing for some but was unexpected for me. I much prefer her more emotional stories. Unfortunately for me, I am not a fan of the pregnancy trope so I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first in the series which I adored. It took me a long time to read it which was something else unusual for an Ilsa book. I usually plow through them. All in all, it was well written and some will adore it but it just wasn't my particular taste or favorite. Not every book will be everyone's favorite. Solid story with good characters.
I had high hopes for this book, I’ve really loved some the of the other books Madden-Mills has published through Montlake. Unfortunately there was so much going on in this story it felt a little too chaotic at times. I honestly think they could have totally cut out one of the plot points and it probably would have been a stronger book. I also didn’t love how long it took the FMC to tell the MMC she was pregnant with his baby. It was like 72% into the book which was far too long. I did enjoy the audiobook narrators though. 3 stars
This is the second book in the ‘Strangers in Love’ series and I really enjoyed the first book Beauty and the Baller so I was hoping I would enjoy this book just as much.
I liked Tuck in Beauty and the Baller so I was hoping we would get to see more of him so I was really happy when I read Ilsa was writing his story.
Tuck and Francesca meet in a rather unconventional kind of way but have instant chemistry and an attraction to each other and they hook up for what they each think is a one off with a stranger that they’ll never see again, however the universe has very different plans for them including a surprise pregnancy. That trope isn’t usually my favourite but I did really enjoy this book. The only small thing I wasn’t a big fan of was how long it took Francesca to tell Tuck about the pregnancy though so that’s why I’d give it a 4.5 rather than 5 stars but other than that I loved the book.
Tuck and Francesca were both really likeable characters along with the other side characters, especially Jasper and Francesca’s grumpy old neighbour lol.
I always really enjoy Ilsa’s books and would highly recommend her as an author.
Arc kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Francesca and Tuck's story. I devoured it and could not put it down. It was so much fun and I loved the cameos from other characters we know. Definitely recommend!
This story is a good one. I enjoyed the storylije. I loved Tuck! But I had trouble connecting to the female lead in this one.
I think I love Tuck because of his past and how he sees things. The way his personality is is something I can connect with.
This is a story that will have you shaking your kindle but it is a good ending. I enjoyed the side characters and their craziness.
Loved it! Perfect for any romance fan who loves a bit of steam and amazing chemistry between our couple.
Ilsa ALWAYS delivers. She's just got a knack for sports romance that is unmatched!
Tuck and Francesca are SO HOT. Just... yes. There's something special about a blend of 'we're perfect together as strangers' but frenemies in real life plus a splash of found family.
The banter, the tension, the spice. Just YES. Love, love, love these stories!
This book was an okey read but not more than that for me.
The writing was good and story easy to follow but I was a bit of hung up with the secret pregnancy which I usually don't like.
So over all it was an okey read but I will not do a reread.
I absolutely loved this book!!! It was so well written and as always, Ilsa Madden-Mills makes it easy to fall in love with the story and characters.
This book is e re ally fun to read. It is the story of Tuck and Francesca. There are however a lot of side characters that you're absolutely going to love. These two have some serious chemistry that just bleeds off the pages. They are both afraid of being hurt and abandoned and are absolutely perfect for each other. If your a lover of sweet and funny romances then this is a book you do not want to miss
Hello
Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title. While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.
Thanks,
●A captivating romance that intertwines the lives of a penniless princess and an NFL player in an unexpected way. The novel starts with a masquerade ball where Francesca Lane, fleeing from her own wedding, meets Tuck Avery, an NFL star celebrating his birthday. Their encounter leads to a passionate, anonymous affair, with no names and no strings attached.
●In a twist of destiny, Francesca learns that the man behind the mask is actually the playboy living next door, notorious for his lavish parties and glamorous girlfriends. Intent on protecting her heart, she decides to steer clear, yet an unexpected revelation—a pregnancy—alters the course of their story.
●The story is a rollercoaster of emotions, blending humor, heartache, and hope. Madden-Mills crafts characters with depth and relatability, always rooting for their happy ending.
YESSSS!! All the stars!!!
Princess and the Player is the second standalone in Ilsa's Strangers in Love series and it's just as phenomenal as the first book!!
The blurb is all you need to know going into this one. It's written in dual POV's so you get to see things from both perspectives, which has become something I love.
Ilsa moves this story along at the perfect pace – fast and addicting!! The banter and their chemistry kept me turning the pages and excited to see what would happen next. It was a joy watching (yes watching because this book so alive) these two overcome things and just grow together.
AHHHH- I want to say so much but don't want to give anything away. This book is hands-down, a five star read that you will consume in hours.
Who doesn't love a good sports romance? I am an avid fan of football and Isla Madden Mills, so I knew I just had to grab this one. Isla does such a good job with world building and continuing to create captivating characters throughout her stories. I actually did not read the first book of this series, but I certainly did not feel like I missed anything.
The readers are introduced to Francesca and Tuck. They meet one night after a crazy night at a fairytale masquerade ball. Francesca is reeling from her broken heart after she catches her cheating fiance, while Tuck is out celebrating his birthday. Once the two lock eyes, it's pretty much a done deal, as they cannot resist the fueling fire burning between them.
"Be wicked with me tonight. I’ll make you forget the guy who hurt you.”....ummm yes please!!!!
They have a passionate one night stand and go there separate ways, little do they know, they end up being neighbors! This was a cute and fun read and highly recommend!
Apesar de ter gostado muito do primeiro livro dessa duologia, eu não me vi gostando tanto do que encontrei nesse livro. Os personagens não me cativaram tanto e pequenas coisas que me incomodavam acabaram se tornando enormes no fim
When it doesn’t matter where you come from, it just matters who you are. Francesca’s life has been complicated from the day she was born. Tuck’s life could be great but he is hung up on the past. So when these two meet at their worst’s days in an exclusive club and thanks for masks they don't know who the other is, they get in a one night only kind of thing. But when both slowly discover who the princess and the player were, there are some surprises. The biggest comes to Francesca in a test result that turns her world around its axis. Can Tuck, the tormented playboy with no interest to settle down, and Francesca, the woman, who was treated poorly by so many people, be ready for this big challenge?
Tuck is known for not settling down, having a lot of women on speed dial and only dating supermodels, actresses and singers. But with his career coming to an end and a difficult past, he searches his new way through life.
Francesca is through many sad and depressing stages in her life so far. But despite it all, is a caring friend, truthful soul and helping woman with a big heart, that she is determined to protect from breaking whole.
But as they know who they really are and how near they have been, they get to know each other better. And catch feelings, even if they don’t want to. And when the massive secret can no longer be hidden, things get messy.
Tuck thinks bad of her first and Francesca's fears seem confirmed.
But soon they see that there is more to the other one than they thought.
We get really good and deep insights into the lives and thoughts of the two main characters. It makes you understand them and their choices. But being the people they are, it was just a question of time that they figure all the problems out and find solutions.
Loved this hilarious and spicy read!! Had all the heart with an engaging love story. Laughed and cried and couldn’t get enough.
I absolutely adored the first book in this series so was really excited to get stuck into this one, however this one unfortunately fell flat for me as there is a trope within that I'm not a big fan of, but otherwise this is another enjoyable read.
Princess and The Player is the second book in the Strangers in Love series by Ilsa Madden-Mills. I loved Tuck in Beauty and The Baller so I was so excited when Ilsa announced that he was getting his own book! It is a total standalone by the way, but I recommend reading Ronan’s story since it’s awesome too!
It’s Tuck’s birthday. It was supposed to be Francesca’s wedding day. Fate brought them to a…sex club that night. She calls him a perv and that was it, their start. Their night ended with a bang. A few of them. A one-night no-strings attached night. No names. Makes stayed on. No kissing. It was a night neither of them forgot but it was always supposed to be that one night. And when she realizes who he really is…she doesn’t want more. He is an arrogant playboy who dates model after model and plays football for a living and happens to live in her building. She doesn’t want him to recognize her especially after she finds out her illness is not a bug trying to kill her from the inside but a baby. She doesn’t know what to do, should he feel like she trapped him? Would he be angry? Would he abandon her and their baby? She is confused and more so when she actually starts to get to know him. Maybe the prince could love the princess and live happily ever after… but wait will happen when he finds out about the heir?
I loved this couple! They are a hot mess and that makes them even more real. From start to finish I was addicted to them. I also loved her little family of misfits and their billionaire. And of course Jasper. That man also has my heart. ♥️
“So do you ever think about that night?” I don’t have to ask which night.
“No, never.” Big. Fat. Lie.
“Yeah, me neither. It really sucked. Worst ever.”
“Totally, right?”
“Totally.” He smirks.
“Life sure does want you to see him,” he murmurs.
I grimace. Fate is a tenacious bitch.
And sometimes when she doesn’t get what she wants, she tries again and again.
“You undo me, Princess . . .”
