I have read A LOT of Christmas books this year already, and this one was 100% the funniest - I laughed so much while reading. This is a must read for the festive season. When I realised it was a Groundhog Day situation I initially thought HWG 🙃 but I loved it! I haven’t read Lindsey Kelk in a loooong time and after finishing this I’ve no idea why?! Looking forward to making my way through her books that I’ve missed!

What a wish-able five-star read. Everyone needs to read this story, there are no two ways about it, I am a big grinch, so reliving Christmas would just kill me, I wouldn’t last 2 never mind as many as Gwen does. I would be a sobbing heap in the corner at the end of the first day!! (I usually am unless I drink enough). But I got Gwen so much, I felt her confusion over what she needed to do right, at every turn. At trying her best and still not feeling like she got anywhere. The family made me smile at every turn, and every day they brought something special out at every turn. Dev is a bright spot, but so is Gwen, her passion for doing what’s right made me smile. This story is something special, as I simply adore this author, but this one had the extra Christmas magic that made it shine so much harder. This story really is a wish come true, only we didn’t need a special six-pence, just a special author.

Three and a half stars.
Gwen Baker and her cousin Manny are travelling home to spend Christmas with Gwen's family. It's been a rubbish few months, she's been dumped by her boyfriend of four years, for his receptionist, as a consequence she's had to leave his luxurious house and move into a grotty flat, and she's currently suspended from her job as a lawyer in a Magic Circle firm pending a disciplinary hearing for attacking a client. Her father was also a lawyer and he's so pleased about her job she hasn't plucked up the courage to tell him that she's very unlikely to make junior partner any time soon!
Christmas Day is an absolute nightmare, squabbling with her sister Cerys, getting drunk, and making a fool of herself in front of the boy next door, her childhood crush Dev. But then Gwen wakes up and its Christmas Day all over again, like Groundhog Day but with turkey, Christmas pudding and family drama.
Although this was a little bit OTT in the madcap things that Gwen does each Christmas Day (and let's face it Stargate did the unbeatable version of Groundhog Day), it was funny and sweet, and I read it in one day. Highly recommended for those who enjoy raucous family Christmases, Christmas crackers, and a screaming row between grown-up siblings.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

If Lindsey Kelk has ever written an average read, I am yet to discover it.!
The Christmas Wish' is a well-deserved five-star read that I highly recommend to all rom-com fans. It contains everything a festive read should - bickering families, romance, laugh-out-loud moments, character growth and depth, and sentimental life reflection.
Readers are absorbed into Gwen's world from the offset, and the captivating storyline holds them right up to the very last chapter. The conclusion is heartwarming, although some would say predictable; I LOVED this feel-good read! I particularly enjoyed Manny's character and his flamboyant ways. He made me smile in nearly every scene he was in. An absolute gem!
Per the expectations of this author's writing, the storyline is easy to follow, packs a festive punch, and is utterly entertaining.

As you would expect from Lindsey Kelk with is a warm and frequently funny read with some fantastic characters. Gwen is not in a great place in life since her ex boyfriend kicked her out with barely an explanation leaving her in a small flat which leaves much to be desired and coming under increasing pressure at work as she pushes to become a junior partner. Things come to a head on Christmas Day but the following day Gwen realises as bad as things were she’s going to have to relive the day over again in a Groundhog Day style story. She’s convinced that the sixpence in the pudding holds the key to solving this so sets about trying to make everyone in her family happy one person at a time based on what she believes they would have wished for. This is a really uplifting read, Gwen gets up to some great escapes but at the same time she learns more and more about herself. I loved her relationship with her cousin Manny and her grandma was absolutely brilliant, the whole family felt like an established dysfunctional mix that just gelled together in its own dynamic. This is a great read for Christmas but you could genuinely read it anytime, I feel like Christmas in this case was just a great time of year for pulling a family together and if a family is going to implode anytime then Christmas is definitely a likely time! 9/10

I wasn’t quite sure how this would go - a reboot of Groundhog Day, set in Derbyshire. But I should have had more faith because Lindsay Kelk can certainly write! This was a fabulous journey for the heroine Gwen - an exploration of her life,, choices made, choices ignored and a fantastic sense of emotional satisfaction by the end of the book.
The setting, Barlow was a real draw - since as a child and teenager, I remember bus trips from Doncaster to Sheffield and then to Baslow, and the walk to Chatsworth House - with my parents and wee brother. I loved the way the author included an homage to Chatsworth in the book!
The idea was not original, but the execution was excellent. Except, we never really discovered what and how the continual repeat of Christmas Day had happened or why.
Highly recommended.

This book is wonderful - the perfect autumn/Christmastime read. Lindsey Kelk is so talented at writing funny, sharp heroines and this one is no exception. She peoples her books with entertaining side characters, and the result is that the story flies by in a pleasurable rush.

This was a fabulous laugh out loud read and so much more than a rom com/Xmas read as it explored how the main character Gwen embarked on a journey of self discovery and revelations throughout the book and how she faced her problems Head on. There were a lot of relatable moments in the book which am sure a lot of readers will resonate with relating to family Christmases and things which have happened when they are younger.
The author has such a brilliant way with words as lots of hilarious one liners and descriptions which add to the book
This was a fast paced read that once I had picked it up I read in almost one sitting and would make a great Christmas holiday read
