I enjoyed the book from the start with Gwen and her cousin Manny travelling to their family home town from London for Christmas. Although not specified exactly where – later on in the book it’s evident that it’s walking distance to Chatsworth House – so clearly near my Aunt and Uncle in Derbyshire!

Gwen and Manny clearly have a close relationship as cousins – and as the book continues, lots of the backstory for the whole family is filled in. They are a really mixed bunch – but you’re rooting for them all. You’re also definitely rooting for Gwen and Dev!

The Groundhog Day element is brilliant! Each day Gwen wakes up and it’s Christmas morning again – and she needs to work out what has gone wrong and why she’s gone back in time again, and again. It’s so clever – and each iteration affects the next in some way or other.

It’s well written, intricate but still very funny and relevant. I had one tiny niggle (because I’m a d*ck) and that’s in one version of the day, Gwen grabs a bacon sandwich as she leaves the house – but a few pages later is starving because she hasn’t eaten all day. Now maybe she didn’t eat the sandwich she grabbed – or maybe I just spotted the one tiny continuity error in it!

It’s a perfect book to curl up with at this time of year – and it’s bargain on Kindle at the moment. I would thoroughly recommend it with a glass of Baileys / box of celebrations / log fire / cozy blanket (delete as applicable)

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

This book is fabulous, it was such a perfect Christmas read and I'm so happy that I got to read it. It's a Groundhog Day-type story where the main character keeps waking up on Christmas Day and has to try and work out what it is she has to sort out in order to finally wake up on Boxing Day. I loved all the characters, they story and the way she worked through what was going on. It was fun and funny, it was engaging and ultimately so heart-warming. It was very festive and I loved it! I recommend this one!

The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk is perfect for snuggling up on the sofa, blanket and a warm drink. With loveable characters and laugh out loud moments - this is another sure fire winner for Kelk.
Lawyer Gwen is returning home to her parents house for Christmas with her loveable cousin, reeling from losing her boyfriend and a catastrophic incident at work - Gwen just wants a happy Christmas. However the universe has other ideas. Gwen relives Christmas Day over and over again.
Also home for Christmas is Gwen's childhood crush - Dev who lives next door - he is the one constant in the story for Gwen. Having to get through parties, family arguments and lots of lots of turkey, will Gwen manage to break the cycle of reliving Christmas Day?
A festive recommendable read.

How have I only read 2 Lindsey Kelk books in my life?!

The Christmas Wish was everything I needed and more when it comes to a Christmas Romance! It was funny, fast-paced, engaging and had me up till 3am because I was adamant it had to be read in one sitting.

l loved the range of characters and I've come to the realisation that I love Groundhog Day-esque books! There is just something about watching a character develop and make changes that they normally wouldn't have made before that just ticks all the boxes for me!

I just...I just loved this one okay?
So go read it...right now.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Christmas on repeat is some persons idea of a dream. For Gwen it becomes her nightmare and she finds herself reliving Christmas everyday. She needs to figure out how she can break the chain and make all her family wishes come true. If she does this she will be able to find happiness and move forward with her life by following her heart.

Such a silly story, I was hoping and expecting more from this author, but was bitterly disappointed. Too fluffy, silly, unbelievable and pointless and I did not finish the book.

Gwen returns home for a family Christmas 🎄
She is now living her worse nightmare and reliving Christmas like groundhog day.

If you could wish for anything what would you wish for ?
Feel good festive read full of family and tasty food.

Christmas meets Groundhog Day. I could see this working well as a film.
For me, my enjoyment increased when we got to the part where the main character is repeating Christmas Day.
It was a sweet, funny and fun Christmas read.

The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk

Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for the opportunity to read this book. Here is my honest review.

Gwen Baker is a lawyer who has been suspended from work and dumped by her boyfriend Michael with whom she had been together for four years. She goes home to spend Christmas with her family and finds herself in a time loop where she wakes up on Christmas day over and over again. She figures out it has something to do with the sixpence wishing coin and to get out of this time loop she has to have to make someone's wish come true.

This book actually made me laugh out loud many times. I loved the banter between the family members and the humor in this book and the second chance of romance. This was a perfect Christmas book and I loved it very much.

I see that Lindsey Kelk has written many books and I will gladly read more by her.

I enjoyed this funny Christmas romance, and I laughed a lot during it.

Gwen is the main character in this cosy story. After being cheated on, thrown out of her house and having a problem with her job, she is feeling down in the dumps. She goes back home to her family for Christmas, to heal her heart and try and find some fun. It doesn't go quite as she has planned, and of course, chaos follows her. But as the story unfolds, happiness awaits her. Just how long will it take for her to find it?

Gwen has a neighbour called Dev, who is a childhood friend. He helps her, and they have a fun friendship together. Will they be able to have more than this?

This is a light hearted, yet emotional, funny story, with lovely characters, which will have you laughing and crying at the same time. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Gwen’s life is falling apart, her long term boyfriend cheated on her and kicked her out of the house and she’s in trouble at her high flying law job. She’s looking forward to heading north for Christmas to hide from her reality. That is until she gets stuck in a time loop reliving Christmas Day over and over again.

@booksandbrunch_ kindly gifted me a copy of this and I’d heard such good things about @lindseykelk from @ashleighheartsbooks for a good while. I love a cheesy festive read so this was perfect for me. Sort of a better version of Christina Lauren’s Holidaze (I love Christina Lauren but that book wasn’t the best). I’d really recommend picking up a copy this festive period!

Witty, creditworthy another brilliant book by this author. Took me a few chapters to get into the style initially but then I was laughing far too much. A Christmas here is going to feel very tame now compared to Gwens.

You know you are in for a fun read with a Lindsey Kelk story.

This seasonal story features Gwen, who is not having a wonderful life - he boyfriend has dumped her, she is suspended from work as a solicitor in a law firm after assaulting a sleazy client.

She and her cousin Manny go home for a family Christmas When weird incidents start happening and she keeps waking up on Christmas morning, she has to find out why she is experiencing her own Groundhog Day again, again, again and again.

There are the family squabbles, mainly with her older sister and obnoxious husband. The only highlight of the repeated days are the different ways she bumps into her childhood crush and boy next door Dev.

A must read for lovers of romcom fiction.

Thanks must go to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and Harper Collins for approving me for an ARC of this book.

What can I possibly say other than Lindsey Kelk has surpassed all my expectations with this delightful story! I have read and loved some of her other books but this is my favourite. I actually listened to the audio version and I have to say that Kristen Atherton does an incredible job again of narrating this story.

Gwen Baker is in a serious rut. After being dumped by her boyfriend, having to move into a small flat and now her job is hanging by a thread all she wants is a quite Christmas with her family. Unfortunately things don’t go quite as planned and Gwen finds herself in a time loop, repeating Christmas day again and again. Convinced that this has something to do with a wish that one of her family members has made she sets about to make their Christmas wish come true and escape the never ending cycle.

Gwen’s family are absolutely firecrackers! They are laugh out loud funny and a lot of the family meals and discussions had me in hysterics. From moody and straight talking Cerys to practical joker Manny, Gwen certainly has her work cut out for her, keeping the peace. I really enjoyed seeing her relationships with each family member change as she repeated each day. It showed how easy it is to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life without thinking what could be going on with others in your family. It’s very easy for us to make assumptions but quite often there is more going on beneath the surface.

Whilst Gwen is running around like a headless chicken she also has the swoon-worthy and charismatic Dev to juggle. From her childhood crush to a distant friend, Dev seems to play a key role in all of her repeated days, each one bringing the reader closer and closer to that inevitable kiss. Things certainly get hot and steamy on a few occasions, making us readers feel very much teased!

This was the perfect Christmas story, filled with tradition, family, love and plenty of hilarity. It’s the kind of story you want to snuggle down with in the cold evenings and immerse yourself in. One of my favourites of the season.

'I could fill a library with my memories of you, Gwen Baker,'

This was a really uplifting read filled with hope and love for family. This book made me laugh out loud so many times and actually made me snort into my coffee on my lunch break at work when I read about Gwen’s Dad’s Christmas gift to her 😂😂

I loved how much Gwen grew as a character as she repeated the day over and over, reconnecting with herself, her hopes and dreams, and what’s most important in her life. Gwen also grew a lot closer to her family over the repeated Christmases, discovering that everyone wasn’t as happy as they seemed and trying to help their Christmas wishes come true🤍

I really enjoyed the will they, won’t they with Dev, Gwen’s childhood crush, and her relationship with Manny was so sweet!

Filled with hilarious mishaps and heartfelt moments, I will 100% be recommending this one to anyone and everyone 🤍🎄

You can never go wrong with Lindsey Kelk, and this Christmas story does not disappoint! Combining a time loop story with a holiday romance is a guaranteed recipe for success in my books, and I found myself engrossed in the story, experiencing all the drama of each day alongside Gwen. I'm also a big sucker for families finally bonding in a Christmas story, and introducing a Groundhog Day premise is the perfect way to do that in a humorous way which keeps things dynamic.

The romance is also great, and woven into the story without taking the focus away from Gwen's personal journey. Bonus points for reconnecting with a teenage crush - after all, that's the Hallmark of many a festive romcoms (see what I did there?).

The side characters are also charming, and the happy ending is satisfyingly heart-warming for a holiday read.

Amazing. I loved this, thought provoking and funny. I found myself chuckling away while reading this, that Christmas gift that Gwen got from her dad had me in stitches!!
I loved the whole Groundhog Day Christmas, and how it gave Gwen the space and time to truly see her family and realise that everyone has a mask and wants to be seen a certain way, and she doesn’t have to be alone in feeling that way. Even though she’s the only one to remember things it allows her time to change her own behaviour toward people and situations and allows her to reflect on her life and do what makes her happy.
A wonderful Christmas read.
