The Cornish Cream Tea Bookshop by @cressmclaughlin a NetGalley read. Ollie Spencer has started a new life in Cornwall with a new job and she is passionate about everything books (a woman after my own heart). Ollie lands herself a job in the bookshop A New Chapter, things don’t always go easy for Ollie, her enthusiasm doesn’t always work out as she plans but she gets more than she could ever have hoped for! I loved loved loved this book, my favourite Christmas book so far and prob my favourite of the Cream Tea series and if you are a fan of Christmas, the author and the Cream Tea Series you will definitely enjoy. It has Cornwall, Christmas, Cornish legends, books and familiar characters what’s not to enjoy. I like the fact that it felt like this story started full force a soon as it begins, with Ollie deciding to move to Cornwall and I think Oliie’s conviction in her decision being the right one shines through from the beginning, failing at this new move never seemed an option for her and that’s a very endearing feature of this characters. Ollie is a strong and seemingly confident character but as you read in and get to know her character more it becomes apparent that the confidence is sometimes somewhat of a front, like we sometimes all put on. There are some many things to like about this book, revisiting Port Karadow, appearances from much loved characters from previous books in the series however new characters are just important to this book. One thing I loved was the Cornish Legends side of this book and the separate story this takes, I don’t want to give anything away and in time the reader finds out who’s behind these legends however the rest of the village doesn’t and the anticipation that the author builds around the village finding out felt just as real for me and that’s what I love about this author, the story jumps from the pages. The author always manages to come up with fresh ideas, introducing new charterers, which soon become much loved characters and with this books in particular there’s twists and turns, that make you full with anticipation! If there’s one Xmas book you read, whether new or not to this author please pick this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another fabulous novel by Cressida McLaughlin. I absolutely adored this novel in the series and look forward to reading more books by this author. The setting was stunning, I loved the inclusion of the Cornish legends and of course Ollie and Max’s relationship.

I really enjoyed the setting, of it being in the bookshop with all the events.

The only gripe I have is with main character Ollie herself. She sometimes got on my nerves slightly. She sometimes just seemed so sure of herself and actually like Becky said, she could do no wrong. But it’s the way Becky kept talking to Ollie that I couldn’t stand. How could Ollie let her speak to her like that? That completely baffled me. But apart from that it was a really lovely read and the ending was so nice.

This is the another book in the Cornish Cream tea series. As the title suggests they are all set in Cornwall
This time we meet Ollie who has relocated after an accident payout left her enough money to start again after she became disillusioned with her previous job in London
The bookshop was featured in the last book so was lovely to catch up with Thea again.
I have to admit that Ollie did come across a bit full of herself to me and in parts actually made me forget that it wasn't even her bookshop she seemed to take charge so much, but that could just be the mood I was in when I was reading ? I did enjoy the book regardless

Omg these books just get better and better. They are best read as a series but could certainly be read as a standalone. I loved having Thea back in this book who was trying to set up a book shop in the last book. We are now a few months later and working with Thea is becky and ollie who has arrived from London after a nasty accident and she ends up living with her friends grandad Liam In his converted barn.
She wants to fit in and try very hard to get Theas book shop known and out there.
While helping Liam write his book up she discovers an author she has fallen in love with but its from years ago and never one knows anything about him can she discover who he is.

She also falls for the charms of max the local owner of sea brew the local cafe. She has promised herself that she will stay away from men after what happened in London.

This book made me laugh much especially her growing friendship with Marion who helps Liam as well and all this talk of Victoria's secrets lol. All that characters you will fall in love with I so wanted becky to like ollie I did feel she was very hard on her at times. And I really loved the developing friendship with max.
I love returning to these books and can not wait for the next one.

This was a pretty standard rom-com set in Cornwall, but centred around A New Chapter Book Shop which belonged to Thea, who was the main character in a previous book by the author.

Ollie moves to Cornwall from London after receiving compensation following an accident, and takes a job in the newly opened book shop as an events manager.

She fits in well, despite some hostility from Becky, her co-worker, and makes lots of new friends, including Max the sexy coffee shop owner.

A fun read, with Cornish legends, and long seashore walks but there were no real surprises.

When I saw this book I thought ‘urmm hello, books AND Christmas?! I’m sold’

This was my first festive read and it’s well and truly put me in the Christmas spirit. It’s not overly Christmassy so just perfect for this time of year.

The story follows Ollie who, following an accident, leaves her sparkly life in London for a simpler one in Cornwall working in a new bookshop. She’s determined to make a good impression and make Cornwall feel like home, but she’s over enthusiastic at times and there’s a few little disasters along the way.

It’s a relatively predictable story with a feel-good happy ending but that’s not a criticism at all. It made it feel so cosy, like a hug in a book, and curling up with a blanket to devour it was just perfect.

I felt invested in the love story and adored the sense of community and friendship just as much.

The book is part of the Cornish Cream Tea series but can definitely be read as a standalone.

I have been looking forward to this book for so long, pretty much since I finished The Cornish Cream Tea Holiday as that ends with Thea's bookshop idea - I'll not spoil it too much, but I just couldn't wait to get reading this one and knew it was going to be fantastic.

Cressida doesn't disappoint and she drew me into this book instantaneously, I loved getting to know Ollie and Henry Tilbury but then we meet Max and that's when you really know you're going to be hooked on it. They're both such lovely characters who have been hit with troubles recently - I really liked that Cressy focused more on the physical elements to this than the ex situations as I felt this actually made me sympathise with the situations a bit more. Especially Ollie and her shoulder as this was extremely relatable to me and I can sense what she was going through at many times.

This is a book about a bookshop so of course it was going to have lots of book references in it, which always makes me smile, but what really grabbed me in this was Bryan Mailer and his books as they sound incredible - a crime solving duo based on mythical legends - yes please! Especially Kerensa's Handprint which has that extra little something in my opinion.

Ollie faced a few hurdles along the course of this book but one in particular really struck me as I'm sure it will all readers, and your heart just goes out to both her and Max. Her friendship with Liam was almost the base to the whole story, after all he was half of the reason why she's moved to Port Karadow in the first place, but he turned into a real support for Ollie and gave me proper granddad vibes, especially with his Shepherd's Pie!

I wouldn't describe this book as 'full on Christmas' but there are loads of references and bits that relate to Christmas, from decorations to the chilly walks, the yule log (which is a tradition I never knew about) and then the treats at Sea Brew which made my tummy rumble every time they were mentioned. We also get to hear about the Christmas Pageant which was created in The Cornish Cream Tea Christmas and even a visit to the famous Cornish Cream Tea Bus and lots of familiar faces. I loved being back in Port Karadow and catching up with some old friends and can't wait for a return some time soon! Bring on the next one!

This book is part of a series set in Cornwall but each one that I have read in the series has been a good standalone book with only 'guest' appearances from previous main characters. I must admit I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous but only because I didn't take to the main female character Ollie who I found somewhat irritating with her impetuous gung-ho personality with an underlying 'woe-is-me' element when anything goes wrong. I loved all the peripheral characters and the main male character Max. A little predictable, not only on the romance side but the mystery sub-plot bubbling beneath. However, despite all that it was a good read and enough to cosy up with over the festive period.

A great series of books and this one was just as good as the rest. I definitely recommend this series. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.

I've read all of the series of Cornish Cream Tea books and it was nice to see some familiar figures appear in Ollie's story.

A lovely festive read.

I’ve read all the Cornish Cream Tea books and really enjoyed them but I was disappointed with this latest book. In my opinion it was the weakest one in the series. As an avid reader I thought I’d really enjoy it being set in a bookshop, but it failed to grab my interest and I found the first half very repetitive. It became more interesting after halfway and that was mostly due to the character of lovely Max. I found the character of Ollie very irritating and it was only her developing romance with Max that saved the book for me. It’s an ok read if you can get through the first half without giving up. I’m a big fan of Cressida’s books but this one was not for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.

I love the Cornish cream tea series and I adore Christmas books so this was the perfect combination. I really enjoyed the story of this book and would definitely recommend it.

A lovely heartwarming read for miserable, overcast autumn days.

I really enjoyed reading this story and getting to know Ollie and Max. I would love to live in a community such as this and work in a bookshop so I was already smitten but I really liked both MC and I also liked getting to know Liam a little better. His role in the story was quite obvious from very early on but it did not detract from the book at all.

I was pleased that the drama that occurred was just a ‘natural’ event rather than an ex lover or jealous family member come to split them up and most of all I enjoyed being in the e bc wants in the book shop, feeling like I was a part of the story.

So good to be back in Port Karadow & returning to the bookshop featured in the last book.
A lovely story featuring new characters and peppered with familiar characters from previous books. This meant not only were we able to follow the unfolding story of Ollie and the ups & downs in her life & budding romance with Max, but also get updates on the lives of the couples featured in previous books.
A thoroughly enjoyable festive read.
I really hope there’s going to be another book in the series to come. The author’s style of writing welcomes you into the story and holds your attention from beginning to end.

Set in Cornwall, Ollie leaves London after an accident and moves to a quieter life in Cornwall.... she moves into a barn owned by her friends grandfather and agrees to type up his memoirs and work in the local bookshop .

I quite enjoyed reading the book, but felt the main character Ollie was a bit me me type attitude which obviously affected some of her relationships with other characters in the book.

I really enjoyed this book about Londoner Ollie coming to settle in a sleepy Cornish village Port Karadow. Ollie never stops to take a rest and is running events for a bookshop, helping to type her neighbours memoirs, adapt to a new life and that is just the start of it.
I liked Ollie though I found her sometimes a little too confident and cocky, winging things she should have put more thought into.
The book is one of a series though you would not have needed to read any prior and it sat well on its own. I would like to read more of the series in the future.
I don’t want to give any spoilers but I did especially like the community feel of the book.

I loved it! I haven't read all the books in the series, but I think I will have to! This is a standalone book though, you don't have to have read the others in the series, though you may want to. I loved the main character, Ollie. What a breath of fresh air. Max was lovely too and the romance was beautifully developed. I liked all the characters apart from Becky, who I think was out of order. Loved the Port, the bookshop - it's a great Christmas read. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another perfect read from The Cornish Cream Tea series. Ollie and Max are brilliant lead characters and I loved meeting up again with Thea and the others from the series. Port Karadow sounds idyllic in the run up to Christmas and the ideas Ollie had to make the bookshop the best it could be were so imaginative.

I love this series so much, I’m always so happy when a new book comes out. I think only one of these I haven’t loved completely (and I still enjoyed that anyway) this is part of a series but could be read as a stand-alone, but I also recommend reading them all as they’re so good. I loved catching up with characters from the previous books to see how they’re getting on. I loved Ollie and Max so much, they’re great characters with a great backstory and lots of heart. If you love bookshops, cakes and Christmas you’ll love this, a fantastic feel-good festive read.

The Cornish Cream Tea Bookshop is the seventh book in Cressida McLaughlin's Cornish Cream Tea series. Ollie Spencer works in the bookshop, A New Chapter, in the picturesque Cornish tourist town of Port Karadow, having moved from London. Ollie hopes to love her new job but she's not liked by another employee at the shop, Becky. Ollie will be responsible for organising events for Thea Rushwood, A New Chapter's owner, helping her expand the business. Plans include a coffee area for customers and a book club. Ollie catches the eye of Max who owns and works at the café, Sea Brew.

It was fantastic to be back with some of the characters from previous books, including Meredith Verren who works in the gift shop, Cornish Keepsakes. This tale is packed to the rafters with cosiness. There are festive twinkly bits, baking treats, and a party and it's gently Christmassy. Community spirit, family, romance and friendship all feature in this evocative and sweet story. Very highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from HarperCollins via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
