Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

I have previously enjoyed the Colter Shaw books so looked forward to reading this one.

Well characterised but slow plot and just about held my attention. Then at around the 80% mark the plot was completely flipped at a chapter change and so the remaining time in the book was just wrapping up the tale.
Still worth a read but a little below what is usual from this author

Fast paced and compelling this book had me gripped right from the start and engaged the whole way through. I really liked the characters as well - well most of them and I couldn't put it down. Twisty and unpredictable, a great read.

Colter Shaw is one of my favourite characters and I'm so happy to see that the author brought him back for another novel. The story was gripping right from the start when we learn Colter is doing undercover work which then turns into a missing person case.
I highly recommend for anybody who enjoys a good thriller

I think most people already know what they're going to be getting when you start a new Deaver novel and this is everything you'd expect from such a master of his craft. Very clever written woth a lot going on. You do have to focus and these are not light reads lol. The complexity and subplots absolutely captivate you and make you completely escape the real world. The characters are well developed and just so real! Yet again, another must read

The star of this novel is once again Colter Shaw. Here in the longer format, Deaver’s protagonist is allowed to grow and evolve before our eyes in what is the fourth outing of this unique character.

Some have reviewed it and thought it was too technical, as if the science could mask and bog down the action and thrilling adventure. Not a bit of it; engineering is the peg that holds up the story only in so much as it underpins the thinking of Alison Parker’s approach to every aspect of life.

She is the chief designer and developer of a new miniature reactor that offers hope for fuel economy into the future.
Colter Shaw is hired by her boss to initially prevent her proto-type being stolen by a competitor and later to protect her when her violent husband is prematurely released from prison. Jon Merritt was serving a sentence for violence against Parker who testified against him and now fears he will be seeking to silence her for good in a fit of rage based on his alcohol fuelled anger.

This is a wonderfully clever novel based around the survivalist skills of Colter Shaw. Shaw tries to find Parker, who has gone on the run with her daughter, before Merritt can exact his revenge.

Shaw goes from Hunter to the Hunted in a life and death struggle to stay hidden and ultimately alive as others are engaged and used to support the exCop.

A story of great depth. Human interactions and motivations are examined and stripped back. Money seemingly can buy anything and life is cheap. Nothing can stand in the way of the focus to find and eliminate Parker and daughter in what the Police may end badly in a murder-suicide.

A free-style mosaic of a thriller which masks any clear idea in the reader’s mind, preventing the clarity of thought of where the plot is really going. Misdirection and fresh insights interwoven into the basic premise reveal new truths and clear perceptions of the characters and their motives. As the picture clears and comes into focus it is not always the image and preconceived ideas we once anticipated.

Slight of hand and allowing us to assume where the story is going, means the author always stays one step ahead of his readers. The question, ratcheted up through increasing tension - can Shaw preserve life and outthink an enemy who outgun and outnumber him.

Can be read as a standalone but for those who have followed Colter Shaw’s story overtime a book full of delights. Packed with the usual drama and action pieces. But also revealing and insightful, illuminating this reward seeking action hero who is resourceful and has his Father’s teaching and upbringing modelling his own life and motivation.,

In a story where money corrupts, the author has Shaw working for reward but operating for greater values, which makes fora tense but “ feel good “ thriller.

Utterly in love with Colter Shaw and think this is Deaver’s best offering yet in this series. Survivalist Shaw is hired to protect genius engineer Allison Parker and her teenage daughter Hannah. Parker’s husband has been released from prison after domestic assault - and he is coming after them. Will Shaw find them before Parker’s ex and the two hitmen thugs hired to track the mom daughter down? So much to praise about this …. Loved the development of Shaw’s friendship with Hannah, Deaver’s brilliance at making hitmen seem humane. Very clever, cut above the usual thriller. Absolutely did not see the plot twist coming. Bravo .Mr Deaver, an excellent read.

After a trilogy of novels that detailed Colter Shaw's investigations into his father's death, it's back to the day job for the reward-seeking adventurer. Hired to find and protect a mother and daughter who are on the run following her abusive ex husband's release from prison, Shaw travels to the mid west industrial town of Ferrington. With the ex being a decorated former cop, he can't expect too much help from local law enforcement.

Shaw teams up with the security chief from Allison Parker's employer - an engineering company that designs very high tech devices. She's clearly ex military and has secrets of her own. But Shaw recognises a skill set that complements his own.

Hunting Time is a very readable novel, featuring an intriguing main character who has a habit of getting into difficult situations - and then getting out of them. The story unfolds in typically Deaver style - multiple plot lines and conflicting information that is skilfully woven together into a compelling narrative. And then the conclusion turns everything upside down ...

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. This cover drew me in, however I couldn't get into the book. There were too many subplots from what the description was about. This is the second book by the author I have tried, and neither lived up to the hype.

I used to love Jeffrey Deaver books, I would greedily devour the minute they came out, the twists were just so clever and unexpected and whilst this book is not going to be remembered as one of his classics it’s still a reliable thriller
