It's going to be a short opinion rather than a long, detailed review. I didn't really enjoy the book and it took me ages to finish it. I found it quite slow and boring.

3.5 stars rounded up.

I’ve read and enjoyed a few of BP Walters books now and was excited to read this one.

The Locked Attic is a well structured and compelling domestic thriller, full of family secrets, grief, and coming of age.

I was able to whizz through it as it’s not long, and found the pace nice and quick. It’s wonderfully layered and I really enjoyed the multiple narratives between past and present.

The characters were likeable and I loved the friendship between Danny and Jonathan.

An engaging domestic thriller with a wonderful coming of age storyline.

It took me a little to get into but I was eventually hooked. I think I found the different time jumps confusing at first because there were a few of them but when I eventually got my head round that I started to really enjoy the book

Very addictive read and you didn't want to put it down. The storyline flowed well and you kept guessing what was going on throughout. Your heart breaks from the start and you really hope there are answers, her son and husband have died, but there is more to it than you are lead to believe.
There are certainly a lot of twists and turns and plenty of secrets being kept. You go into reading this expecting something and you end up reading a totally different book, but this isn't a negative comment at all, it's a pleasant surprise!
You would def not know what was going on in the attic!

This was one of the better novels I have read from this author. It was a little predictable in some parts but it was suspenseful and creepy. Guessing some of the plot twists did not bother me as much because the story was and characters were so good.

I would still recommend this and look forward to more by this author. Thanks to Netgalley, BP Walter and Harper Collins UK 1 More Chapter for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was an intriguing title and premise, so I was eager to dive in. I found the pacing to be well balanced and the characters varied in ages and genders which added a good dynamic as the story flowed.

I wished it had built in more tension in places and I was really intrigued about the explosion. The ending sadly fell a little flat for me, but I still enjoyed the narrative and the concept.

3.5 stars.

This was a suspenseful thriller, although one of the plot twists was a little predictable. Overall a good read.

I was lucky to receive an advance copy of The Locked Attic by BP Walter from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I was very excited to read this book as the description for it was fantastic. I found this book to be somewhat slow paced and difficult to finish. I would give this author another try but didn't love this book.

The Locked Attic was a quick and simple read i devoured over a few hours on a rainy weekend. I found it pretty average but it was enjoyable enough. Very quick to read and a good thriller to keep me entertained but also a bit messy, there was a lot happening across the chapters and I think if I hadn't of read this in one setting I would have gotten a little frustrated with the pace. The attic wasn't really a feature which was misleading, instead the story focuses on two young boys. It's told across two timelines which I never seem to get along with very well.
Overall it passed a nice afternoon away and i'd read the rest of the authors work.

The Locked Attic by B P Walter left me feeling more than a little conflicted. On one hand, I found the narrative to be somewhat confusing with its shifting timelines, but on the other I could not stop turning the pages to see how it all played out.

Stephanie is grieving the loss of her husband and her son, Danny. Before he died, Danny became friendly with a neighbour of the same age, but something happened between the two before the accident that took his life, and Stephanie is determined to find answers.

This one is, in my opinion, a bit of a slow burning domestic drama more than a psychological thriller, but well worth the effort. 3.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for an ARC.

This book started off really well for me but then it started to become very predictable. I couldnt connect to the characters . The ending was also very disappointing.

A new author to me and I was impressed.
The story goes back and forth from current to past events all surrounding the mystery of her neighbours and their possible connection to her sons death.
Twists and unexpected occurrences keeps a steady pace throughout, whilst being quite poignant and emotional.

Many thanks to the publishing team for my digital copy for review
The blurb sounded interesting to me but once I started to delve further into the plot the writing style and intensity of the story had me sold! But this was more dark and intense than the blurb suggested.
It was a page turner that I couldn't put down.
One aspect that I liked was the focus on the friendships and no matter how complex and far apart the lives were having that network (even when questions were left unanswered) become a place of familiarity and security.
The book does get very dark as the story develops and we get to read in dual timeline from past and present until the end and it comes together in the most errierest of ways!

Unfortunately, this book did not meet my expectations. The synopsis sounded great but it didn't deliver.
This book is told from different points of view and goes from before the explosion, the day of the explosion and after it. I thought the explosion was going to play a big factor in the book sadly not. It was slow and I still have no clue about what I read. I don't think B P Walter's books are for me. Sorry.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- Neat cover on this book!

I am giving this one 4 stars solely on being entertained. This author's books are always highly entertaining and always have me furiously flipping the pages. Was the plot a little "meh"? Yes. Was the ending anticlimactic? Again yes, however this author never fails to suck me into his stories, so sometimes a book just being entertaining is enough. 😉

Ive really enjoyed BP Walter's writing in his previous books and was looking forward to The Locked Attic. Unfortunately it didnt grab me as much as his previous writing, and I found myself putting it down in favour of something else. Ultimately a rare DNF from me, so I can only give it 3/5 stars
