Whether you’re looking for a great kid’s travel book as a gift for a little person in your life or whether you're a parent trying to keep the travel dream alive - this is the perfect guide for you!

The first thing you’ll notice is the beautiful illustrations. Sam Usher knows how to capture the attention of young travellers. The detailed drawings show plenty of personality and will definitely inspire children to travel.

Author Patricia Toht invites children to hop aboard a London double-decker bus and grabs their attention with an easy to read, engaging rhyming picture book which introduces them to the exciting city. She’s planned a fun itinerary for a holiday in London and has broken the city into bite-sized chunks so that children remain excited to explore. Each chapter consists of two pages and is a different tourist destination. The best travel books for kids encourage curiosity and expand their horizons; Toht’s guide is a stellar example of this.

‘All Aboard The London Bus’ would be the perfect gift to buy a child planning a trip to this exciting destination. It will encourage them to get involved in the planning stage as well as get them excited about their upcoming trip. I know from experience that kids are happy to see something ‘in real life’ that they’ve read about and recognize from books.

I’m thankful for authors such as Patricia Toht who remind us that the littlest travellers need an accessible travel guide too. This is truly a gorgeous celebration of London.

I was gifted this advance copy by Patricia Toht, Quarto Publishing Group, Frances Lincoln Children’s books, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

All Aboard the London Bus is such a fun book packed with tons of must-see sights in London. This would be perfect in advance of a trip to London to get your child excited! I also reminisced on my time there by reading this. I loved all the facts at the end of the book.

I loved the illustrations in this book. They reminded me of those of Helen Oxenbury, a favorite of mine. They are beautifully detailed and invite the reader in. The text goes well with the visual. There are rhymes to engage young ones.

What follows is a lovely tour of London. Travel to The Changing of the Guard, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, The Thames, The British Museum and many more well-known destinations. The pages on Trafalgar Square offer a search and find puzzle for extra fun.

This book would be a great way to acclimate a child to London or to relive a favorite trip to the city. I know that I very much enjoyed my visit.

Note: at the end of the book there is a section with more detailed information about the places mentioned in the book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto-Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for this title. All opinions are my own.
