Wow if like me you like you like old abandoned buildings this is the book for you. My husband and I are obsessed with old abandoned tube stations and this book does not disappoint. It’s a stunning read to find out more about stations that are sat there slowly decaying across the world. Beautiful coffee table book.

Abandoned Train Stations is a beautifully curated collection of photographs from abandoned and neglected railway stations edited by David Ross. Due out 13th Sept 2022 from Amber Books, it's 224 pages and will be available in hardcover format.

This is a beautiful collection of photographs, many of them full page and in colour. The entries are arranged geographically in chapters by region: Europe, Africa & the Middle East, Asia & the Pacific, North America, and South America & the Caribbean. Each entry is accompanied by a short caption giving tantalising glimpses into the history of these broken and abandoned places. Some of the most effective photos show nature reclaiming these spots and I really liked the ones showing earlier bustling transport centres inhabited only by wildlife and greenery.

The photographs are curated from stock photos (chiefly Shutterstock, Alamy, and Getty Images) and all are credited in the back of the book. Interesting and well done.

Four and a half stars. It would make a good selection for public and school library acquisition, as well as for transport enthusiasts. All of the destinations are identified geographically, so the ones available to the public could make an interesting sightseeing goal for especially interested fans of the subject.

If you like abandoned places, this book is perfect. Abandoned Train Stations by David Ross is a collection of photographs of abandoned train stations across the world. All the photos are beautifully presented with a brief description. I love seeing these photos showing their stories of its time and cultures, and it is certainly a great adventure without traveling to these sites myself. It is definitely amazing to see why these sites differ in architectural styles, reasons behind the "retirement," and many more!

This was an interesting read. I enjoyed reading the descriptions and learning about each train station. The pictures were great. It was cool to see old train stations from around the world.

A book full of beautiful photographs of abandoned train stations in different parts of the world; some repurposed, some falling into decay.

I wouldn’t rush through it as it can become a bit if a blur, but read (looked at?) slowly it can be a spectacular experience.

Well-done photos, variety of architectural styles, various degree of the feeling of abandonment versus new identity — all this is interesting to experience. I can only imagine how lovely it would look in a print copy.

A beautiful coffee table book that takes the reader/viewer on a trip around the world, visiting abandoned train stations. It was really interesting seeing all the different types of architecture. There is something strangely striking and appealing about these abandoned places.

Amber Books continues its photo book series of abandoned places. Other books have include abandoned islands, castles and places from the two World Wars. Abandoned Train Stations is a coffee table photo book focusing on abandoned train stations from around the world. The photos includes blurbs giving a description and a bit of information. Unlike places abandoned because of war, trains stations are usually decommissioned because of changes in methods of travel. Most of the photos are of stations from small towns that are no longer part of larger current train systems. Many are boarded up others have been kept as museums or have been refurbished to be part of the community. There is a wide variety of building styles and time periods represented. The book is broken into sections by continents. This is for a traveler or rail road enthusiast. I was very interested in glancing through it but didn’t find many places that made me thing I must see this in person. This beautiful coffee table books takes readers on a trip around the world viewing abandoned train stations. The book is divided by region of the world. Each section has a page providing a brief introduction and then the rest of the book is filled with full color photographs. Each photo has a brief caption that provides the location and a little information about the station, which in the case of this book is usually when the train station was decommissioned. It was interesting to flip through the book and note the different architectural styles present, denoting various timeframes of construction and decommission. Some of the photographs were absolutely stunning and it made me wish these buildings were open to the public (I'm just going to assume that as they are abandoned they really are not accessible). This is a book that would be a lovely coffee table book, as well as a book to have on your shelf, to pull out and glance through more than once.
