I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job but failed to give each woman their own personally! We follow six women on a hen holiday to Greece. They are staying at a remote villa and they all have secrets that are hinted at for far too long. Each character seems super unlikable except possibly Robyn. I did finish this book but I pushed through . In all honesty it lost me where a character Thad been stung on the foot by a scorpion and was thinking in her head what job each friend would do at a hospital. She says about Fen (gay, her girlfriend) that she would obviously be a gynaecologist for all the ‘excellent examinations’. Nope nope nope. That’s just vile
I loved the Castaways by this author and she sure can write a thrilling, gripping novel! The plot of this one immediately drew me in and had the potential for a fab book and it really did deliver!
It took a fair few chapters to get to grips with all the characters and each one of the girls on the hen do. I did lose the thread a couple of times and it took me a while to get used to who was who along with their life story. But I got there and the author definitely helped you remember. The characters were greatly made and thought out and she wrote them in a way that you wanted to follow their story.
It was a slow burner and one that builds you up in suspense to an inevitable murder. But who is it going to be? You have to stay tuned. As it draws along, it really keeps you guessing! You have no idea what will happen or how things will turn which made for an exciting element of the book.
Lexi is getting married, so that calls for the traditional hen night! Off on a plane and a mini holiday abroad to Greece, a group of women are drawn together, but all is not as idyllic as it seems…
It’ll have you hooked!
One of the Girls is a run-of-the-mill holiday read, with an atmospheric setting, cliche characters and formulaic plot. I listened to an audio version and narration was also unremarkable.
Lexi’s self-appointed Maid of Honour has arranged a hen do in Greece, at her girlfriends villa. Her close friends, new and old, plus family make their way to the villa to celebrate the upcoming nuptials, little do they know that not everyone who makes their way out, will make their way back.
This book was brilliant, I have a new found love for thrillers where you know someone dies, but not who, until the very last moment. The characters are all so complex and layered. Each back story is absolutely thrilling and such a diverse cast a characters too.
A truly thrilling read that has me hooked! The narration is fabulous and I couldn’t stop listening. I highly recommend.
It was supposed to be a perfect weekend bachelorette Greek getaway. Six women getting together to celebrate Lexi’s engagement. The island and its ocean views are glorious, but dangerous undercurrents run beneath the sunset swims and midnight cocktails. Each of the women is hiding a secret. Someone is determined to make sure Lexi’s marriage never happens - and one of them doesn’t leave the island alive.
This book is a great twisty mystery. I found it fast paced and listened to it within a couple of days. I particularly loved how the author kept the identity of both the victim and the murderer concealed right until the end, enhancing my suspicions of everyone in the group. The Greek island setting was so atmospheric, I desperately wanted to be there - despite all the darkness.
The story is told from perspectives of all six women. The first few chapters set the scene as we get to know them all, and then the story picks up the pace. I felt invested in each woman, desperate to know what secrets they were hiding. Highly recommend this one! Wonderful if you enjoy a summer thriller.
One of the girls is a typical summer read following a hen party of six women on a Greek island. Lexie is getting married and her friends and future sister in law arrive to help her celebrate. Each character has her own narrative and I did initially find it quite difficult to get to grips with them all. As the weekend progresses and secrets are revealed, the atmosphere becomes tense but it is only the final few chapters of the book that really allowed the story to progress and come together.
I loved this audiobook! It was so easy to listen and I was soon addicted to it. Lexie is getting married to Ed. She goes on an incredible hen do in Greece but all is not as it seems. Some of the hens have secrets and they threaten to spill over. So many twists and turns- one had me gasp out aloud. The perfect summer read.
A brilliant holiday read. A hen party on a Greek island, what could be more idyllic and fun? Well it’s not going to end well in this wonderfully written psychological thriller. In the audio book I loved the little asides every so often that suggested the darkness to come, each gave me a little cold shiver. The setting of a private Greek villa was perfect. The characters are real, flawed, loveable. And yet they have a dark, intricately woven, history that slowly develops as you are drawn into their lives. Thank you to Harper Collins Audio uk and NetGalley for the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine freely given.
A book packed with interactive twists and dangerous turns. Friendships tested beyond anything. Just a few days on a Greek island changes the lives of six people.
A great plot, great characters, great read. However, the ending did drag for me. I found myself just not interested anymore, which is such a shame. Still though, it’s a really good book and one I would definitely recommend.

Listened to this one whilst on holiday. Was glued to my device and totally absorbed in this great story!
A hen weekend on a beautiful Greek island is the wonderful setting for this compelling murder mystery. The six girls all arrive with past secrets and I enjoyed following the twists and turns, and learning about the various friends and their flaws, whilst trying to figure out who is doing their best to wreck Lexi's celebrations. Thoroughly enjoyable with great narration. Thank you to the author, Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Lucy Clarke's 'You Let Me In'.
So I KNOW what she's capable of writing.
And she definitely did not fail me with 'One Of The Girls !
Read this in one sitting and narrator's job deserves a chef's kiss!!!
Thanks to NetGalley for this copy. I have enjoyed Lucy Clarke's previous book after only reading it recently so I was looking forward to getting into this one, and it did not disappoint 👌 Great Characters, great storyline and great twists. Lucy Clarke has a way with playing with words and I love it
This is the second book I have read by this author and I really think she is a great thriller writer. She creates great characters and this story was full of suspense and twists, keeping me hooked throughout.
Six friends go to Greece for Lexi’s hen party. The drinks are flowing and so are the secrets being revealed. Then one night tragedy strikes, one of them turns out to be a killer.
A very slow burning psychological thriller, but worth persevering with. The end twist is a little predictable, but a good book to read poolside in the sunshine.
this book is a big one coming in at almost 400 pages and boyy is it a slooooooowwwww burn/build. So many times I had to stop and double check how long this book was because it was a project in the making for sure. I attempted to read this book in December and I could not get into it. I then saw the hype and decided I needed to do the audio. Very good narrator ! I will say you will probably hate every single character in this book.. I am not even sure there is one redeeming character in the entire novel. It is good it was just a bit too long and slow for me
An addictive audiobook packed full of drama and tension, and suffused with exquisite Greek food, scenery and sunshine. Six friends arrive on the sun drenched beaches of a Greek Island on a hen party, but someone has a more sinister reason for being there. We know there is a death and the plot intricately takes us back through all the twists and all the different perspectives to try and piece it together. Each voice is perfectly narrated to portraybthe vadtly differing protagonists. Suffused with shocking revelations, no one is as they first seem. Secrets simmer and brew beneath the surface until they finally erupt in a killer final twist. Intoxicating from start to finish. #oneofthegirls #lucyclarke #netgalley #thriller #addictiveread #greekisland #henparty #killerparty #sunsoakedthriller #perfectholidayread #karla_bookishlife #audiobook
ONE OF THE GIRLS
BY
LUCY CLARKE
NARRATED BY
NATALIE SIMPSON AND SOPHIA ZERVUDACHI.
Lexi is preparing to marry Ed, the love of her life.
Her hen party is a long weekend in a stunning villa on the Greek island of Aegos with five of her closest friends and family.
As the women head off, they all bring their own secrets on the trip and there are connections between some that could potentially blow up spectacularly.
By the time they leave the island, someone will be dead, and all their lives will be changed forever.
This isn’t my usual genre, but the blurb sold it to me. And of course it’s always good to step out of your comfort zone.
I have to confess, I was hooked from the very beginning.
The setting is idyllic, the characters are an eclectic mix of people, all with their own story to tell.
This is a story full of twists and turns that certainly kept me guessing, right up to the thrilling climax.
Gripping, emotional and full of the power of women.
Excellent narration. Very atmospheric and read with great sensitivity to the story.
A captivating story - I loved it.
