I read this book as a stand alone and loved it. I will definitely read the first. Well written with great plot.
Many thanks to the author and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion
Fantastic read. Went and bought book one, so I didn't miss anything. LOVE it and so will my patrons!
I was disappointed with this second book in the series. I had hoped that the author had sorted out the issues I thought it had, with book 1, and was prepared to give them a second chance as I saw possibilities, but unfortunately not.
i found the style and content even more confusing than book 1, and failed to finish the book as it just didn't seem worth the effort. I was not enjoying my reading.

Eastside Witch Hunt is the second book in the Midlife Supernaturals series by T.J. Deschamps. This book can be read as a standalone book or enjoyed as part of the series.
I found the heroine of this book, Miriam, to be incredible! She is a fierce woman, who has overcome a lot and finds that it just keeps coming.
I am a huge fan of paranormal cozy mysteries and I loved this one! Miriam is an actual adult with some life behind her and is very relatable! I found this story to be incredible! It's funny, fast-paced, filled with adventure and has amazing characters that I just wanted to hang out with!
I definitely recommend reading this book. I know I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out! I want to see what happens next!
I'm so grateful to T.J. Deschamps and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Eastside Witch Hunt by T. J. Deschamps in exchange for an honest review. I got the first book through Netgalley as well and really enjoyed it. When I saw another one was coming out, I put it on my wishlist. I love that while there is wonderful story building and character development, this is not a heavy read.
Loved this book. I could relate to the mid-life changes and the terrors of trying to direct a teenager. It's full of humour, well written dialogue and the added problems of being Fae at mid-life. I have ordered book 1.
Thank you NetGalley for providing this copy. The review here is solely my own opinion.
Oops, I started at book 2 again. I was able to catch up quickly, though, so while it may have been easier if you started at the beginning, you can dive in here, too.
Miriam is a bakery owner, single mom, leader of unaffiliated witches or something, member of some supernatural council, girlfriend to an alpha and angel person, ex to a ruler of Hell, and probably even more stuff I'm missing. She has a lot of baggage with her BFF/fated mate? It was a lot to catch up on and that's just one character. There are oodles of characters thrown in here from all sorts of backgrounds, with all different powers.
The big story here? I think it was about the cult. There's a religious cult that sprang up because the supernaturals "came out" and god didn't like it (or something). They have been kidnapping people to try to convert them and brainwash others into joining. This ultimately becomes more of Miriam's problem when her daughter becomes one of the kidnapping victims. She is forced to flex her awesome powers to save the day/save herself/show up her boyfriend all at once. Oh, and there's some baba yaga stuff thrown in for good measure. Somehow this book ties a bow around everything at the end, but it certainly warrants a re-visit (especially the boyfriend forgiveness thing). All in all, a wild ride!

Womens Fiction – Sigh....just why. An outdated, sexist category.
Anyway, I didn't realise this was book two, started reading and was completely lost. Luckily book one was on KU, so I read and enjoyed that, though with a few reservations. Then got onto book two with a clearer understanding.
The premise is fun, but in book one I felt there were too many different supernaturals, especially as they were mixed so some part werewolf, part witch etc. This book adds in even more of them, and it felt a bit like the blunderbuss effect, throw in everything and hope something sticks. Sometimes less is more and this book – IMO- would have benefited from a decent cull, keeping the Supes down to a basic few.
I wasn't really sure where the story line was going – was it the Big Reveal? Was it the Fae heritage of the FMC, and the problems that brings? Was it her past with Satan, the Big Bad who she's been hiding from, having made him think she was dead?
I jut felt there were so many plots overall, plus the new ones in this book, that combined with the myriad types of Supes it got a not muddled, and I lost interest. A shame, as from book one I felt this series has good potential for me.
I might try book three if its on KU, and see if things settle a bit, become clearer but I'm on the fence.
Stars: Three. I enjoyed book one but felt this was a bit of a muddled bag and lost direction.
ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers
An entertaining and compelling urban fantasy I enjoyed. Had a lot of fun, it's gripping and the characters are well developed.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Second in series.
Not as entertaining as the first.
Good story with witches, gods and other supernaturals trying to live and get along with the humans.
Drama,action,intrigue,romance.
Voluntarily reviewed.
I read this second book in the series before the first Despite that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and just ordered the first. I loved the way it was different from other supernatural books. For fun light reading I recommend this book.

This is about supernatural creatures trying to live with humans despite the obvious distain they have for them at least the ones that are screaming the second coming. Soon as the starting test book I realized I shouldn’t of got it. I love books where supernatural creatures mingle with humans and do what they do, but a book where you’re sleeping with an archangel and Satan directs boyfriend isn’t for me. I am a Christian and although I am not even a great Christian I don’t want to read a book where you may God‘s angels sexual symbols and the entity most notorious for degradation a funny footnote. I love the supernatural I love books with supernatural creatures in them I love ghost stories ET see what I don’t love is a book filled from beginning to end with blasphemy and mocking what I hold so dear. I’m sorry I got this book I am not going to post this review on Goodreads I just wanted to let you know my opinion.
It had been a while since I read the first in this series and it took me a bit to remember everything. There are a lot of characters and many types of supernaturals with vast abilities. I love how they support each other and the community. The discrimination of some members of the area is saddening and certainly relevant in our world in many aspects. I look forward to the next book, as there are sure to be more stories to tell. I read this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
What an enjoyable read this was. Miriam is full of contradictions.. As if human middle age wasn't a harsh enough change she is going through Fae puberty causing epic changes. Think pink hair and horn nubs. I loved Jada and her teen attitude. The ending is perfect.
Thank you so much for the arc of this book - I did enjoy but I made a big mistake which I must go back and rectify this is book two and you really would benefit from reading book 1!!!
Saying that I really enjoyed although I think there was too much of a mix between supernatural characters and not enough definition of roles within the supernatural world!
I am off to read book 1...
In book #2 of the Midlife Supernaturals Series, the mundanes and fanatical religious groups have been busy protesting our existence ever since it came out there were supernaturals living among them. Add insult to serious injury. Supes are going missing. Powerful supes. The cops are breathing down my neck because they think I have something to do with it all. Oh and by the way, Baba Yaga isn't a myth. It's a powerful coven and they want me to join them.
I wish I had re-read the first book in the series before I read this one, because I had forgotten most of the storyline. This is definitely one that you want to read the books in order if you want to get anything out of them. I do remember that I thought the first book in the series was a lot of fun, and this one had some fun parts but not nearly as much. The main character is reminiscent of Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson or Sunshine .Vicram, if you are familiar with Darynda's books. Overall, this book was ok, but not as good as the first one in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.
This is the second book in the series. I didn't read the first but it's probably a good idea to do so before reading this one.
The book was well written but I didn't enjoy the mash up of supernatural characters. Every type of supernatural entity was thrown into the mix. It was a distraction rather then adding anything to the story.
For me, just an okay read.
Eastside Witch Hunt by T.J. Deschamps is the second book in the Midlife Supernaturals series. The supernaturals have come out to the humans. Some humans are accepting. Some not so much. In this storyline the Paradise Centers, which are all around the USA and have missionaries out in the rest of the world are preaching against the supes. If only that was all they were doing... The Supernatural Council of the Pacific Northwest run by archangel Gabriel is trying to bring the Paradise Centers down since they are acting against the supes. I really like the main characters, Gabriel, Miriam and Phyr. They have a tough job in their roles for the Supernatural Council of the Pacific Northwest. This is a fascinating story. I really enjoyed this read and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
