I have a Harper here who was thrilled to see a book title with Harper in the title on the shelves a few months ago. She devoured the first book in this series, What's New Harper Drew? Talent Show Takeover and she has reread it several times. She was delighted to get her hands on book 2 this week and read it in one sitting. She loved it, loved the return of the characters and really enjoyed the plot. Her only criticism is that she wishes she could read book 3 straightaway.
One she will review in school this week and recommend to all.
A great sequel to the first Harper Drew book, with shades of Adrian Mole and the Georgia Nicholson series, but for younger readers. A funny and smart series that I hope there will be more of, I really love the characters and how the books are written. Perfect for 10+
I read this book with my 9 year old daughter taking it turns to read out a chapter and full disclosure we both had I can't speak because I'm laughing too hard moments.
Harper Drew is definitely up there with some of our favourite main characters and as we both loved the first book in the series we were absolutely keeping our fingers crossed that this one hit the mark- and it oh so did!
It's such a good story- funny, touching at times and good fun, we can't wait to see what Harper gets up to next.
What a great character Harper is - I would love to have a friend like her! Her witty take on the eccentric, disaster prone family that she loves and the descriptions of the foibles of their larger than life friends and neighbours are a great source of humour, and throughout Harper proves herself to be tolerant, kind and capable of sorting out some very serious messes. I laughed out loud frequently while I read this. I'll have to find Harper's first outing and I hope there will be more to come! I will definitely be buying this for our library.
