I finally was able to download the book in the NetGalley app!
I’m always looking for recipes to make for lunches for work that I can prep ahead of time and take to-go. While I’m not sure these would work there were still a lot of things that looked really good! The biggest surprise was the breakfast bowls! Almost all of them sounded really good.
I appreciated the little drawings in the beginning and the organization and that there are various options for different diets.
This cookbook is BEAUTIFUL. Each recipe has a photo, which I love. It’s filled with great bowl ideas and lots of veggies, making it a great book for those looking for a healthy vegetarian cookbook.

A truly beautiful book, full of ideas on creating your own bowls, either breakfast, lunch or dinner, with lots of variety and how to introduce different foods, essentially tailoring your bowl to your own tastes. Well worth the read.
I thought the concept of this cookbook is really interesting. The recipes look delicious and easy, and I can’t wait to try some! The examples at the beginning really help demonstrate how to create a balanced meal and I appreciated that.

Smorgasbowl has so many great recipes, and the best part is that most of the ingredients are whole foods. I think in physical form this book would be so gorgeous, and I would reach for it constantly. I plan to get a physical copy very soon.

Smorgasbowl is a fun take on changing up how you eat your meals. There were many unique recipes included in this book that I can't wait to try. I loved that the author used codes for special diets to make it easier to know which recipes are suitable for people with dietary restrictions. I also really enjoyed the beautiful pictures!

I love to cook and I am excited for the bowl. I appreciated how the smorgasbowl catered for every palate and that it also has dairy free recipes .Such a brilliant book and the book is well written-absolutely loved it!
The perfect cookbook, I have so much envy that this is not on my cooking bookshelf in my kitchen. The book is beautiful and bright, the text is clear and the recipes are simple yet exciting. The problem I encountered was that it does not work well with the Netgalley app, it is not available in E-book format on the Kindle app, I would struggle to use this day-to-day in the format it is in, which is unfortunate as the content appeals to me.
I absolutely adored this book! Quick, easy healthy meals, served in a bowl so I can eat it on my couch! My favorite: food that looks good and makes you feel good. An absolute winner of a book.
I'll start with a short anecdote. I make a really good spaghetti with meat sauce, but my homemade, home-canned sauce tends to be runny, and I don't like how that looks on a conventional plate. I started serving my spaghetti in Fiestaware Bistro bowls to avoid that small but bothersome issue. We quickly learned to love bowl dinners, but they've been limited to spaghetti, chili with cheese, and the occasional homemade ramen vegetable soup. But that's about to change.
Discovering Smorgasbowl was a delight! There's a wide variety of recipes for every meal, including breakfast, and the photography turns each dish into an irresistible bowl of art. Many of the bowls will require a dressing, and that is a detail that hasn't been overlooked. The dressing recipes are included, too.
You'll also learn about components that make up a bowl-meal. Once you've become familiar with various ingredients, the sky's the limit. You'll be making your own signature bowls in no time.
Clearly, I'm going to need to buy a few more Bistro bowls. Happily, I'm as addicted to Fiestaware as I am to delicious food!

These recipes look very tasty and the pictures are great! This is a fun approach to tackling meal time and finding healthier choices.
Great cover and great ideas! Smorgasbowl is a great way to balance your nutrition and a healthy way to eat. We do a ton of bowl meals in our home and this had some great pointers for your bowl meal.
What did I like? The sauces/dressings were new to me and looked tasty. The flavor balance is what mostly interested me since some of my bowl meals lack it. I’d never delved into acids but this book opened that up for me. I really enjoyed the pictures and recipes.
Would I recommend or buy? I really enjoyed my peek at this book. I would love a copy for my shelf. Kudos to the author for making it look easy! Five stars!

The recipes were easy to read, and the photography made the food look insanely delicious. This is EXACTLY what I’m looking for when I dive into any kind of cool book. I love the concept of bowl inspired meals. Very well done!

The name and beautiful picture caught my attention and I had to read it!
It starts off by introducing the dish, the system it uses and who could benefit from eating like this.
This book gives examples what foods to use, soft or crunchy, protein or fiber and how to serve, hot or cold. And at the end, how to sweeten or spice it up, is up to the creator of his or her bowl.
The recipes start savory, breakfast bowls are next. Soups/Salads, Entree bowls and then all the sauces/dressings at the end.
The pictures are colorful, vibrant and made me hungry for all of the bowls.

Smorgasbowl is a great cookbook filled with some delicious sounding recipes. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet but I am excited to try them. The illustrations in this are beautiful and really make you hungry. This is a cookbook I can't wait to refer back to. A wonderful cookbook filled with a huge variety of Bowls. I loved the huge breadth of mouthwatering healthy recipes. It's easy to modify them according to any dietary restriction. The pictures are stunning and vibrant. There are so many amazing recipes in this book!

I enjoyed recipes from this book I also loved the photos of dishes. The total caught my attention immediately and I had to read it!
I really did enjoy this book, and found it to be very interesting. This is the type of cookbook that I enjoy most, since it provides not just a bunch of great recipes, but offers enough information that allows me to develop a base to learn how to build my own recipes.
Carruthers starts by breaking down the necessary elements of a good meal in a bowl - flavor/taste, nutrition, texture, and temperature, and explains how the right balance of these can make or break a recipe. It's important to have a good mix of these elements in order to make a satisfying and tasty meal, and each of the recipes presented in this book incorporates that.
The photos are absolutely stunning, and the recipes sound so delicious. I bookmarked so many of them to try, and I love the fact that so many of them are respectful of people with food allergies or intolerances, with the author offering vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and paleo options that don't seem like you're missing out on anything. And as a picky eater, it seems so easy to make substitutions that will allow me to make these recipes in a way that will allow me to enjoy these recipes as well.
After reading this book, I'm confident that not only will I enjoy the many recipes that I bookmarked, but that I will be able to come up with my own recipes using the principles discussed in this book.
