THis was a cute book, that was set in a local mall.Every year they host a parking lot festival. Summer Darby owns the tanning salon and she is always the winner of the competition. Kamar is the new man in town, and he is ready to compete not only in the games, and in school, but also in Summer's llife.
I loved this book it has everything needed for a goos quick read.
Summer owns a tanning salon in a mall. They are preparing for their annual games and she is a champion. When a good-looking guy comes in and asks to use her power, Summer takes interest. Kamir is a singer/student performing at the mall. Sparks are flying this 4th of July, and it is not just fireworks. Really liked this short story. Evidently, it is a series, but this is the first one that I have read. Thanks to Sarah Robinson, and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.
it was the quickest read. i'm not from the U.S, so i don't care at all about the 4th of july and it was a big thing in this book. howeve, the romance was good, i liked the characters and felt like it was an entertaining story.
This book was a super cute short summer read!! Just the right amount of sweetness I needed right now. There was pansexual rep and I enjoyed how it wasn’t the main focus of the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, sweet, summer romance. I’m going to totally read the rest of the books in this series as well!!
Mall American Girl (At The Mall) was a great read by Sarah Robinson.Summer Darby is the owner of Summer's Sun Spray Tan Salon. She has crushed every goal she has had. She is determined to not be distracted by the new singer in the pavilion lights. Kamar Jaziri is in graduate school, and also works as a singer/songwriter at small gigs. He just wants freedom as he chases his American Dream. He has no time for dating or romance. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
I haven't read the other books in the At The Mall series and i was kind of disappointed with this one, so I won't read them now. Mall American Girl is set at the Mall (obviously) during the 4th of July and tells us a story of the owner of the local tanning shop, Summer, and a singer and songwriter Kamar.
To be honest, this story was too short. I did not care about the characters, because they felt like some background characters. I would rather read this as a 200 hundred pages book, so those characters could have some depth and character development.
It was fine, but at the same time it was a very cheesy and shallow short. I'd recommend this one only to people who want a quick read. The epilogue was cute tho!
If she was being fully honest, though, she was also captivated by the way he looked standing on stage. He was tall- a lot tall than her and probably six feet if she had to guess - but he stood in a way that somehow softened him. Like he was curling into the microphone, caressing it, the way he might hold a woman in his arms... Why were her thoughts going there??
Summer got out a trying relationship and has no interest in another one. She's content running her spray tan business and keeping to herself. Then she meets Kamar.
Kamar takes music gigs wherever he can find them. This one happens to be in the middle of a mall. Anything to help pay for his Masters degree in music. When he has to ask Summer a favor, he wasn't counting on the sparks to fly. But here they are - flying...
This is a super cute novella. The characters are great and it's the perfect little beach read!
This novella wasn't really my type of book which I feel was too bad since so many seems to like it.
The ending was abrupt and I wasn't feeling the story. I am glad to have read it tough since I have decided to read more LGBTQI+ books.
Thanks for letting me read this one and sorry it wasn't a novella for me.
Mall American Girl by Sarah Robinson is a fun, short story perfect for this time of year! Summer and Kamar meet at the mall where Summer owns a tanning salon and Kamar is a musician. Sparks fly during the Independence Games and love is in the future! A great feel good story!
I thought this book was so cute. I loved the 4th of July theme and how it was so different than most holiday romances. It was a quick read and a great pallet cleanser. I wish this was a little bit longer but I understand its a novella and we usually don't get much to the story. I think Kamar and Summer's relationship was cute and I liked the celebrity aspect of it. Definitely going to read more of this series.
Mall American Girl by Sarah Robinson is a short and cute love story between Summer, the owner and operator of a tanning service, not based on light of any sort, but potions, and Kamar, a Masters’ student in music just looking to finish up so he could begin teaching. He was not looking for a girlfriend. She was pan-sexual and not looking for anyone. She was getting over the past. It was the Fourth of July and Kamar had been pressured by the mall manager to participate in the “games” being held to celebrate, things like hot dog eating, dunk tanking, and water pistol competitions. He was not competitive. She was. It was all very cute and consistent with the other novellas in this Mall series of Robinson’s. Cute concept. Very open and honest about sex and love and the possibilities for partnerships. Good, short, feel-good read.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Mall American Girl by Author Collective 20, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #authorcollective20 #sarahrobinson #mallamericangirl
Thank you so much for Netgalley and Author Collective 20 for the opportunity to read and review this novella. I truly love this series of mall novellas from Sarah Robinson and I have to say this one is my favorite so far. This is because I love the uniqueness of the characters and their development as events of the plot went on. I think my only issue was part of the plot didn't feel properly closed. However, I think people will love it as much as I do. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars
While the story was original I am not a fan of the pan sexual. It was a huge turn off for me and it was really hard to read this book without cringing. The story line was interesting and the festival sounds like fun times but the relationship aspect- huge turn off. I do wish that info was in the bio of the book for I would not have requested it if I would have known.
Didn’t realise it was a short story which was over before it began. I prefer something longer that has more depth but for someone who likes short stories this would be the perfect read: fun, interesting with romance
A cute, sweet easy to read romance.
Set at a Mall on 4th July weekend where all the stores get involved in a celebratiom.
Voluntarily reviewed.
This book is a Novella, which makes it short and to the point, not a lot of build up. I felt like with Kamar he was really laid back and just go with the flow kind of guy. With Summer I feel like if I had to describer her she was like Eeyore "woah is me" kind of attitude. Also I felt like the author tried to throw a twist into the book but the never let it play out so I felt like well what was the point of that. Honestly this book was not for me. If you are looking for a quick read this book might be for you, if you are looking for a more drawn out story this one might not be for you.
I love Sarah Robinson’s Mall series, each book can be read on its own, what will be next?
The Mall is a great setting, lots of shops and different people, a wonderful storyline with fantastic characters!
I particularly enjoy the journey of Summer and Kamar, a special story filled with romance and friendly competition!
A fantastic quick read, you’ll feel the emotions and happiness spilling from the pages!
Thanks to the publisher, NetGalley and the wonderful Sarah Robinson for the opportunity to read this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you read the book blurb, you know what the story is about. This a cute, sweet, quick read romance with likable characters. Love this author's writing no matter what genre. I enjoyed it very much.
I received a fee copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
During the Fourth of July celebration, the Independence Games commenced. The heroine is eager to win the games, determined to not let distractions pull away from her goal. The hero is hired to play music at the pavilion and met the heroine when he needed some power for his amp. As the local business owner and hired musician get to interact with each other during the celebration, they began to get closer, even as obstacles such as an ex and the games pitted them against each other.
This is the latest addition to the AT THE MALL series. I enjoyed the holiday celebration setting and the whole cache of characters. I did feel that the situation pertaining to a previous significant other needed a better solution. And I also feel that one other character will have his own story in the future. The main couple were solid individuals together and separately. I also liked the glimpses of how the main couple coped with grief and sexuality. Knowing that this is a novella, it would have been nice if more details were added in certain parts of the story for better transition. Otherwise, I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more Sarah Robinson books in the future.

Summer Darby, owner of Summer’s Sun Spray Tan Salon, is a winner. The end. Every goal she’s had, she’s crushed and her streak isn’t about to come to an end now even though the games have changed. When Kamar Jaziri isn’t studying in graduate school, he’s working as a singer/songwriter at small gigs around the local college town including a recent hire at Yule Heights Shopping Mall.
This is an easy to read novella set on the 4th of July & a delightful mix of romance & humour toped off by a delicious epilogue. It’s ideal for the summer & relaxing in the sun. I liked both Summer & Kamar & liked the witty banter
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
