Summer Darby has one focus in life....to succeed. She always tries to her best and can be very competitive. When it is time for the annual Yule Heights Shopping Mall contests Summer wants to win at all costs, especially if she is up against Kamar Jaziri, the good looking hottie who likes to play music and sing around their mall. Neither Summer or Kamar have time for a relationship but as these two spend more time together, fireworks begin to explode. In the end these two cannot deny their attraction to each other and decide to give it a go.
I liked each of these characters separately, but not so much together. At times it seemed like this story just kept bouncing all around. Some parts I really loved and other parts were just ok. Overall this story a nice addition to this series.
Kamar is working hard trying to make a living and going to graduate school and doesn’t have time for romance, but when he and Summer meet, his plans are thrown out the window. This is a short quick romance read and I loved the epilogue.
This is the fourth novella in Sarah Robinson’s At the Mall series of holiday-themed contemporary romance, but the story stands alone. It’s a cute Independence Day themed story, and I liked both of the main characters, as well as seeing characters from previous books. It was an enjoyable enough quick read with a few laughs, and I particularly liked the adorable epilogue. However, the romance was too rushed for my taste, and the side plot about the ex-girlfriend was never satisfactorily resolved.
Although there is some mild swearing and some very silly sexual innuendo, there is no violence, and no sexual activity beyond kissing.
I received a free ARC through NetGalley, which I volunteered to review.
Kamar just started working/singing at the mall. Summer owns and runs a tanning salon there. When the mall has its annual Fourth of July games, these two compete against each other but interest is spiked high.
Opinion
Like the others in the series, this is a really short story. Robinson does a great job of including people from all walks of life in the series. (In this book, Summer is pan sexual.)
Even though the story is short, the plot is big. With a lot of sexual humor added in, this is a great short read for when you have just a little bit of time.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Sarah Robinson for providing me with an ARC of this book.

Firstly I would like to say thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to have access to these books and to the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this book.
This is the latest instalment in the "At the mall" series of which I have read one other book in this series and although I enjoyed this book less than the other this was absolutely adorable and I loved seeing them together and slowly grow into a relationship. this was cute and sweet which was adorable but I wished it was a little spicier, especially diving more into the character's head space. They did fall a little flat as characters for me personally as I like to get into the head of the characters, I feel there wasn't enough detail to do so in this book. I liked the backstory of the female and the reasons she made the store which was adorable and I loved the connection between those two and his musical ability. The crisis in this book fell flat and was kind of tossed to the side very quickly which didn't pull me into it.
3.5 stars
This was a fun installation of the "At the Mall" novellas. In this one, we get the story of the owner of the tanning salon and the new musician who plays in the pavilion.
It was kind of a "love at first sight even though I don't want a relationship right now" kind of thing which I don't usually enjoy a ton, but this wasn't awful.
It's quite short, like the other ones but I had a lot of fun reading about the games that the mall does for its vendors.
The romance ended up being really sweet and the main characters Kamar and Summer both had hardships and things in common and it was heartwarming to see them try to work through it and be able to help each other.
Great LGBTQ+ rep, as Summer is pansexual.
Sarah Robinson's fourth novella from the Yule heights shopping mall series is All American Girl. As in the previous parts, diversity is present in the characters.
This time it's about Summer Darcy, who has her own tanning salon in the mall. In terms of love, things don't go so smoothly. She is pansexual and her last relationship was with Winter, a young woman who helped her through her grief over the death of her mother. The relationship is over, but Winter won't let her go just yet.
Kamar Jiziri is a musician. He studies and earns his money as a street musician. When he is allowed to perform at the location of the shopping center, he comes into contact with Summer and there appears to be a clear click between them.
Robinson's novellas are short, occupying only half of the 90 pages. Still, enough happens in the 50 pages and it is fun to read. The characters get enough development and the setting of a fourth of july party including a hot-dog eating contest is nice to visualize. Characters from the previous parts also get a small role and ensure recognition and a kind of togetherness.
Mall American girl is fun to read. I wish there will be more volumes in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
I'm really lv9ng the Mall Series novellas. Quick and sweet - a perfect little read when you need a quickie...read.
Mall American Girl is the fourth novella of At The Mall series. It is a cute summer romance and the perfect addition to the series releasing around the Fourth of July!
Kamar and Summer both work at the local mall, and they got recruited to participate in the Yule Heights Annual Independence Games. They met right before the games began. Once they were competing against each other in the hot dog contest, sparks were flying. The book was a fun and lighthearted read that will melt your heart.
I really love this series and feel like all her books should be much longer! I love that they are all easy reads, but I always left wanting more. I also love the inclusiveness and the diversity in her books. Not many authors explore diversity in the characters’ sexuality, so it is refreshing to see a pansexual lead in this book. I look forward to the rest of the series!
Thank you to NetGallery and to IMAG Social Media Agency for giving me a copy of the book.
"I don't think my heart puts people into categories, you know? It just follows what it feels. Sometimes that's a woman, sometimes that a man. It all depends on the heart inside, you know?"
Fun July fourth themed short story with a sweet epilogue.
The installments in the At the Mall series are fun rom-coms representing diverse characters. It was fun to get glimpses of characters from the previous books, but as short stories are, it's just so short.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing a free copy in exchange of an honest review. Honestly it’s a really cute short summer book set during the Fourth of July. I do agree with everyone that the epilogue was the best. Overall, the book wasn’t outstanding but it’s still a pretty nice read if you want something short.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
A short story by Sarah set in the Mall. Starring Summer who owns the local tanning shop and Kamar a singer/songwriter. Could of done with a bit more to the story, kept me wanting more.
Too short to really tell a story. They meet than an year later view of mall workers that meet and fall in love. A whole story of between those 2 points is missing. Way to short
There must be something in the water at the Yule Heights Shopping Mall, especially around the holidays! This time out, it is July Fourth and there are the Independence Day Games. Summer, bouncing back from a breakup, is eager to compete, especially against Kamar, a ballad singer, who just started working at the Mall. They both manage to get to the hot dog eating contest where Kamar loses, so he has to pay the penalty. But the competition has ignited a few sparks that start up a romantic fire. A nice frothy story of two unlikely souls coming together. Wonder which holiday Sarah Robinson will visit next?
Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to read this tale!
A fun and cute addition to the At the Mall series. It's a great short summer read that takes place around the fourth of July. Summer and Kamar had really great chemistry and I enjoyed seeing them together. This was a charming and entertaining read and I enjoyed it all the way through. Wonderful characters and an engaging storyline will keep you captivated till the end. A fun and lighthearted read that had me smiliing and laughing throughout. I found this book very entertaining and am glad I had the opportunity to read it.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Mall American Girl is a short story revolving around the fourth of July holiday. Kamar is a musician who is playing at the mall for the weekend. Summer is the suntan shop owner but otherwise known as the hot dog eating contest winner. Both challenge each other to fourth of July games.... and the rest is history.
I wish that this story was a lot longer, as there was much Sarah Robinson could do with the characters. There is a discussion about Summer's ex girlfriend, Winter, and how she looks at Kamar's songbook. Yet, that plot point is unfinished. The eplipgue was able to tie things up, however.
Super short novella that I wish had been a bit longer - at least long enough to resolve a conflict with an ex that arose within this story.
Regardless, this was a fun read with a romance starting on July 4th weekend. I really liked Summer (female MC) and how independent she is. Points for making the female MC pansexual as I don’t see that often but love being able to relate. Kamar (male MC) is secure enough that he doesn’t mind letting a strong confident woman lead and I’ll always cheer that.
This could’ve been a full length novel to explore more details - and I would’ve loved it I’m sure.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this fun romantic romp.
This story was enjoyable for a short story.
Unfortunately it just felt incomplete with some characters just appearing to disappear leaving me with the feeling of what was the point.
If you like quick reads though you may enjoy this romance.
This was a cute short story that I enjoyed. Summer & Kamar are a great couple. If you like a quick short story that has a instant connection than this is for you.
This book was cute. Not good, not bad. A little stereotypical. I had a different idea of what the book would be about than what it actually ended up being about.
