I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The beginning hooked me right away. A very interesting plot to be sure.
What a fabulous book! It took my emotions everywhere, I laughed and I cried (a lot!), and I simply couldn't put it down.
Millie has been with fiance Harry for many years, and is ready to move their relationship on. When she realises Harry doesn't share the same outlook, she knows she has to leave him. She finds herself in Glentorrin for the Christmas wedding of best friend Jules, where she stays with Jules' brother Dex. Can Millie accept the changes in her life and move on without Harry?
Dex is such a wonderful character, the kind of person everyone needs in their life. Little dog Nigel who appears on Dex's doorstep one night was also wonderful, reminded me of Lassie at times! Simply put, Lisa Hobman has written another fantastic book that is perfect for cosy winter night reading.
This book was beautifully written with characters that I really cared about and got increasingly frustrated with due to all the interruptions whenever they were getting close to admitting their truths to each other.
It was easy to see how good they would be together and the journey we travelled with them was interesting and had one of the best ending's I have read. So if you get frustrated with them too, keep going, the ending is well worth it!
Looking at this authors backlist, I can see there are a few books with other, secondary, characters from this one. I'm going to need to locate those now to read more of everyone's stories and how they all came to Glentorrin.
A cute Christmas read. Loved the characters and the story of the book was well written. Would definitely be recommending this books
A lovely heartwarming story. I really enjoyed this book from the first page. When Millie accidentally gets pregnant it's fair to say it doesn't go down well with her fiance and she is naturally heartbroken .When she goes to her best friends wedding on the Isle of Skye at Christmas when heavily pregnant it's just what she needs to be around friends who immediately make her welcome. A great location some lovely friendships and great characters make this a perfect read and when she meets up again with Dexter her first crush her feelings become emotional making things more complicated. First time I've read this author's book but will definitely try some more .A perfect novel to cosy up with

A lovely, easy to read, quick paced book. Not an author i have read before but will definitely look out for more by this author.
Really enjoyed this book, was definitely my dry sense of humour, connections with the characters,, made me laugh out loud, made me cry, everything I want in a book and much more. Would recommend this book, because it has a bit of everything in it. First time reading any of this authors books, will be looking for more to read.
Millie and Harry have been together for a while and on his 36th birthday she hands him a box with the pregnancy stick that says she’s pregnant! When he makes it clear that he doesn’t want a baby and tells her he doesn’t feel ready to be a dad she Scoff’s at this, but acquiesces when she goes to the doctor to terminate the pregnancy she finds out she has ovarian sis and that it’s pretty much a miracle she got pregnant to begin with. Would you tell Terry he gives her the ultimatum me or the baby despite this could be the only chance she has to be a mother. He is confident she will pick him, but she doesn’t an 8 1/2 months pregnant she goes to Scotland on the island of sky to attend her best friend Julius wedding. They give her a cottage of her own and tell her she can stay as long as she likes to put the cherry on top the cake her old friend decks is there and not only does he become a great support to her but she secretly falls for him. When she finds out he’s been seeing Ennis a girl on the island she doesn’t let her feelings be known. After all that said he doesn’t want to get married right? This was such a great book I loved it! If you love sweet romances with puppies you need to read this book! I absolutely adore this book! They have such great characters an awesome plot it’s just awesome! I was given this book by not Galli in the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are definitely my own.
Millie finds herself in really unexpected circumstances, pregnant and dumped all in one day by a heartless cad Harry. She turns to her friend for support but she is now getting married to her forever love and lives on the Isle of Skye. Once she’s invited up to attend her wedding she finds herself feeling like she’s home. Her best friends brother Dexter is there for support and sparks licker. This is a gorgeously snowy Christmas read. I really recommend it.
Team Dex all the way!!! What lovely read. Like Millie my heart went to Dex the moment I met him.
My heart broke for Millie with how Harry treated her, on what should have been the happiest day of the couples lives. Millie is such a strong, loving and nurturing person. I loved seeing her with Nigel the wonder dog. Seeing her navigate her feelings for Dex and process everything in their past and how he felt about her was great, and I loved seeing him care and protect her so much.
Such a fantastic happy ending, I hope we see them again when we visit .
Oh wow I loved this book I don't want to give spoilers as I hate that myself but this book is amazing it's funny, loving, melts your heart, warm and fuzzy does make a person a bit angry but in the end it all comes together.
This story made me laugh and cry.
The only thing I'm going to spoil a bit is nigel the wonder dog needs extra treats
Thank you Lisa hobman for a brilliant book
I loved Millie in Dreaming Under an Island Skye so I was so excited to have a book about her. She was such a great friend to Jules so I already went into this book wanting her to get her own happy ending. Harry was so awful it was hard to believe he ever had any qualities that would make someone like Millie fall in love with him. I'm glad that the book skips over most of her pregnancy and jumps ahead to closer to her due date. I felt that having her be farther from the breakup with Harry made it easier to believe she could move one with someone new. And who could be better for her than Dex? He's pretty much a perfect guy and I won't lie, I definitely had a bit of a crush on him myself. This would have been a much shorter book had Millie and Dex really talked to one another about their feelings rather than assuming the other wasn't interested. It was clear a lot of their "we're just friends and nothing more" was self-preservation. I liked how the author handled Millie's mixed emotions about Harry - she did really love him once and that shouldn't be something to be gotten past too quickly. That said, I did want to smack her toward the end when she caved and told Harry they could try again. Especially since she was ready to do that without just putting everything out there with Dex to see if he might feel the same way. But it all rights itself in the end and their big getting together scene was so sweet that I forgave her for her momentary stupidity. I also really liked getting to see Jule's and Reid's wedding - the part with Evin was so so sweet. This is a great book for the holiday season!
Lovely easy Christmas read, nice believable characters, beautifully descriptive. Another great book from Lisa Holman. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
Lisa hobman does it again with another gloriously romantic feel good book. Yea it might be July and we might be in the middle of a heatwave what better way to cool down then a Christmas book. This book is full of all those feel good Christmas feelings, it's warm and comforting and a joy to read.
I really enjoyed this! I devoured it in a single sitting. It has such a well crafted story with brilliant characters I found it hard to put down.
Perfect escapism.
A really enjoyable story. Completely engrossing. I'd recommend this to anyone for a holiday read. Great characters, lots of empathy, lovely writing style.
Once again the author has shown her love of Scotland through her words, as well as allowing us to catch up with characters we have met previously in her books.
I loved the story in this one, and found myself constantly wondering whether the people I wanted to get together would in fact see sense or not.
Great story, great setting, highly recommend the authors books for anyone with a love for Scotland and a great storyline.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.
