This was my first book by the is author and it was a poignant read and was a story full of strong characters and of love loss and friendship and the coming together of several generations of a family.

This book was definitely a rollercoaster of a read as At times this book made me laugh and at other times it made me cry.

It covered lots of real life issues in a very sensitive way bringing them out into the open.

Thank you to NetGalley, for the opportunity to read a copy of this! I’ve been a big lover of Ruth Jones novels and I was so grateful to be accepted for this book.

Love Untold is about the bond between mother and daughter and it was such a emotional topic. This book explored so many different themes within this bond: guilt/shame, sadness, love, heartbreak and hope.

Grace is turning 90 and all she wants is to fix her family and heal her broken heart that has overshadowed her life for a number of years and she needs to find her daughter and fix their relationship. I loved how this looked into the generations of a family and could offer insight through different character ages.

I loved this and enjoyed reading it so much! I do think this isn’t as good as precious books of hers I have read if I am being completely honest, however I loved it all the same.

I love Ruth’s style of writing and how it can make you feel so many different emotions and give you great characters you can really empathise with and that you really like and want to be happy. I liked the humour within this book too which made it very fast paced and a nice easy read.

This book made my heart happy and therefore it’s a strong 4 stars from me. Thanks again NetGalley for this read!

This is the best book I’ve read in quite a while, , absolutely superb! It’s extremely well written and has a fabulous cast of characters, and ‘ characters’ they most certainly are. I loved them all!

‘Love Untold’ tells the story of soon-to-be ninety year old Grace and her family, a familiar face in a small welsh town, known for her twice a week swims. However, in the lead up to her ninetieth birthday, in the midst of her granddaughter (Elin) organising a surprise party, all she wants is to be reunited with her estranged daughter, Alys, who left thirty years ago.

This was such a beautiful read. As suggested by the title, the book is about love every form. But specifically, how love rings true. From two divorcees striving to get over each other, to wildly different mother and daughter struggling to communicate, to a blossoming queer relationship to family trying to heal past wounds - love is present in every syllable of this novel.

It was a lesson about family relationships, generational trauma and the transgression of love in every sense; familial, romantic and platonic. The story was wonderfully told and it was such and enjoyable read.

The title has a second meaning revealed towards the end of the book, one that made me smile so widely when I read it.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my unbiased review.

This is a story of 4 generations of women in the same family, about their mistakes, their lives and the way they interconnect - or don’t. Set in Wales, it covers each member of the family, their interactions and reactions, over their lifetimes. At times it felt a bit confusing as to which character was being dealt with, but not enough to stop me reading this book in one day. There was a bit of frustration at some of the characters actions, Elin having tantrums, Alys’ drunkenness but it really is a good read, and one I would recommed

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book..

Love Untold is the story of four generations of mothers and daughters set in South Wales
It is a really good entertaining read, full of depth and lovely characters who all had their own story, some are somewhat flawed but mostly redeemable.
At times I found it difficult to grip who was who in the family as the years were flipping backwards and forwards and I found it a little confusing, but it all came together in the end.I did feel one character had acted appalling and I felt she was forgiven too easily and I’m afraid I knew I couldn’t be that forgiving, to explain more would spoil the storyline.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Ruth Jones is getting better with each book she writes. If I’m honest I didn’t really enjoy her first book, but Love Untold is in a different league.
It tells the story of four women from the same family who all have issues with one thing or another, also secrets are kept until the end.
I was transported to West Wales and enjoyed hearing the Welsh words and phrases as I got to know Grace, Alys, Elin and Beca. All strong women and apart from one they have a zest for life. I was sitting on a Spanish beach reading this and at the end I was crying, discreetly.
A great book that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Oh my goodness, loves this book. Four generations - Grace, her estranged daughter Alys; her daughter Elin who Grace bought up; and Becca. The story of the four and their relationship; detailed beautifully; o cried buckets at the end when we find out more about Grace’s younger days. This was a beautiful emotional story.

This is such a wonderfully Welsh read. Not sure I've read a book where the town I live in gets a mention or 2!
This does jump around a bit and changes POV which is a bit dis-orientating.
Nice story, complex characters and glorious ending.

This is my third Ruth Jones book, and it just keeps getting better with every book! We meet four generations of mothers and daughters – Grace, Alys, Elin and Beca. Grace is the great grandmother of Beca, Elin is Beca’s mother and Alys is Grace’s daughter. It sounds a complicated set up, but it really isn’t. The story is told from the perspective of each of the women with their chapters interspersing with each other. What a troubled family they are though – Alys, a recovering alcoholic, hasn’t has any contact with her daughter or mother for so many years. Elin is having marriage and teenage daughter troubles, and Beca is having parent, school and life troubles. Grace seems to be the one that holds most of the family together, but even she has own worries. This book takes us on a wonderful journey, telling the four women’s stories with flashbacks to past and present.

This truly was an amazing book! How does this author manage to get to me every single time! I was captured by the story right from the beginning. I had my favourites initially – I loved Grace (who wouldn’t!) and Beca, but Alys and Elin took some warming to. Of course, their storylines twisted, linked in with each other and turned throughout the entire book. We had revelations of secrets, grief, sadness, heartbreak, fun, joy and love, all in equal doses! The storyline had its serious undertones, but it was also full of so much humour, which was no surprise as we all know the author is so well known for her comedic writings! The book is based mainly in South and West Wales and fondly uses the Welsh terms and ways of speaking. I’ve said it before in the author’s previous books that there is always one character who will remind you of the infamous Nessa, and in this book that honour befalls to the lovely Soozi!

I loved this book - it was such an emotional read, reducing me to tears on several occasions. The women’s stories were all sad but yet heart-warming and the author certainly knows how to tug on those emotional heartstrings. I was captivated with their stories throughout and thought the ending, whilst it had me reaching for the tissues, was absolutely perfect. A beautiful read with loveable and realistic characters. Would recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley, Random House and the author Ruth Jones for the opportunity to review this wonderful book.

Love Untold is about mothers and daughters and the complex bond between them. It's about the heartache that comes from leaving things unsaid and the power of true forgiveness.

Grace is about to turn ninety. She doesn't want parties or presents or fuss. She just wants to heal the family rift that's been breaking her heart for decades.

But to do that she must find her daughter Alys - the only person who can help to put things right.

And when she finds her - if she does - she risks betraying granddaughter Elin. Who is far less forgiving of the past, with its hurts and secrets and lies. Meanwhile Grace's great-grand-daughter Beca is oblivious to all these worries, too busy navigating the highs and lows of teenage life and keeping secrets of her own.

All families have their problems. And most of them get resolved. But Grace's problem is thirty years old. And she doesn't have time on her side.

So is it too late for her to make peace? Or is reconciliation still within reach?

Yet again Ruth Jones proves there is much more to her writing than just her famous name, she is on the same level of wonderful storytelling as Graham Norton both names are a draw for reading their books but unlike many other famous names having a go these two live up to their famous name and keep you reading book after book. This is Ruth’s third book and what I will say is it not as strong as her previous outings but even if it had been the first it would live up to the hype of her name.

I have read both of Jones previous books, both I really enjoyed I liked the characters, plots, her writing style and dark humour. This book was the same full of dark comedy with a likeable cast of slightly flawed characters set among a story that spans over a present day and past time frame told in the third person, each chapter focusing on one of the four main characters- great grandma right down to great granddaughter-

Can’t say much more without spoiling the plot but what I will say is despite few niggles- untied up story lines, loose ends, plot lines left hanging and a few undeveloped characters- this a easy read that will keep you interested, I couldn’t put it down, leave you feeling uplifted and a little in love

I have given this four stars as while I enjoyed it it lacked something in comparison to her previous writing it felt in parts it was a little rushed and lazily written but overall it’s a smasher that fans of Graham Norton, Marian Keyes and Anne Tyler will love.

Wow Love Untold a tale of mothers and daughters and the bond between them.
Beautifully written by Ruth Jones.
I read into the night, this is most definitely one not to be missed.
Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for an advanced copy in return for my honest review.

I loved this book with it's myriad of emotions mixed in with highs and lows of four generations of Welsh women, all so different and yet ultimately the same.
Unlike others I wasn't at all surprised by the ending, the tenderness had been in evidence all along.
I love how Ruth Jones makes her characters strong, very Welsh women and I could definitely see my own grandmother in Grace but sometimes I think she over eggs the pudding; far too many 'is it's for normal, sober speech. And I'm afraid I found Soozi to be an overblown, black, younger version of Nessa! A bit too much of a caricature.
Overall though a heartwarming tale which will have you reaching for the tissues.

Massive thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this ahead of release !

Warning for spoilers

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this book . This is an emotional , heartwarming and captivating read and I finished it in one afternoon , completely unable to put it down !

Firstly , each character was beautifully written , with their own complexities. Each character was realistic and I have fallen in love with Grace , she is such a strong woman and as a Welsh woman myself , I see a lot of my own grandmothers in her.

This is a wonderful story about the relationships between different generations of women within the same family. The conflicts and emotions are real and raw and you’ll find yourself relating to so many arguments and points of tension.

The end of this story is incredibly moving and brought me to tears (and I have never cried over a book before). Ruth Jones draws you in and tugs on the heartstrings in a beautiful way

Honestly I can’t recommend this book enough and will definitely be buying copies of this for my friends and family when it is released. A must read in my opinion! I now need to go and dry my eyes and have a strong cup of tea

This was a truly beautiful, although for me unsurprising read about four generations of women and about how each was affected by the way they were parented. Grace the matriarch is almost ninety but lives a full and active life however she’s haunted by the broken relationship she has with her own daughter Alys although she has strong relationships it’s her granddaughter Elin and great granddaughter Beca. This book cover just a couple of months when each woman has their own problems to face with flashbacks to parts of their own relationships with their mums. I found this an easy but touching read with all kinds of emotions but it was overall very uplifting. 9/10

Oh my goodness, what a book! I loved every page and could happily go back and start it all over again.
I’ve really enjoyed Ruth Jones other books, however this one is definitely her best yet.
It’s beautifully written, emotional and engaging. The unexpected ending had me in floods of happy tears.
It’s a 5 star read and one of my favourites this year. A truly lovely book that I’d recommend to all.

Thanks to Netgalley for chance to review. I loved this book from the first page. I have read Ruth Jones previous books and enjoyed them but for me this was the best. A surprising twist at the end . I would highly recommend this one. Great read.

A wonderful blend of family seen through the eyes of the various relationships.
I can clearly hear Ruth Jones's voice through out this, especially in the Welsh phrases and words and it makes the book all the more real!
The 4 generations of women have all had their struggles and are not always each others biggest fans (to say the least) but each one is crafted beautifully with so much detail they spring off the page but without slowing down the pace of the story.
There are some beautiful moments between each of the women as their truths are slowly revealed, with the final love story of the book being truly moving.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was definitely Ruth Jones' best book yet. 'Love Untold' beautifully captured family and love from four generations of women and jumped across times with ease and skill. The four voices were distinct, realistic and well crafted and the story was engaging, entertaining and incredibly moving. I would have liked to read more about Grace's past, but even aside from that, it was an excellent read.

I’ve enjoyed the other books by Ruth though found this one a bit harder to read! The story was based in Wales and was based over generations of the same family. It was easy to read but towards the end I just speed read!
