Amazingly done, I love me a love triangle!
The supporting characters where AMAZING and I was so torn between Josh and Fred!!!
I love Sophie's books and this one was no exception! Funny and unexpected, I would definitely read again!
This was my first book by Sophie Cousens and it won't be my last.
Can you imagine if an ex partner showed up at your wedding! I can not. This book would make an amazing rom com!
This completely slipped down my dashboard and I've only just got round to reading it so apologies for the late review.
I absolutely loved this book - like a Sliding Doors moment when Audrey and Fred never quite make it but spend years afterwards thinking "what if?"
A complicated time line which must have been a nightmare to write, but easy for the reader to understand. Was I wrong to absolutely hate Granny? She seemed to want everything to go wrong purely because Audrey wasn't a "Yorkshire lass!"
Great book, really enjoyed it.
Another winner from this fantastic author. Sophie Cousens has quickly become one of my favourites and this book didn't disappoint. Made me laugh out loud. Is a great holiday read for sure - 5stars from me
A slow burn rom com with real laugh out loud moments. This story has really relatable characters and real life situations while still being entertaining.
I love a good what if book! This one did not disappoint!
Every chapter left me wanting more, it was unputdownable.
I'll recommending it to everyone.
Absolutely loved this book!
Sophie you are amazing!
I was hooked throughout and couldn't put this book down.
Thank you for accepting my ARC request
I loved loved loved this book! It was cute, funny and a whirlwind of romance. I really enjoyed how the book flipped between well before marriage, to the present today. The progression of Audrey’s character throughout was great. Bad Jeans Josh wasn’t so bad after all! Definitely recommend!
Before I Do follow the story of Audrey and Josh and the events leading up to and after their wedding day. On the big day, Audrey is questioning whether Josh is ‘the one’ and she’s thrown off kilter when Fred (the one that got away) is among the guests. His appearance makes her question whether Josh is the man for her and questioning whether they’re just too different to one another. We flit between this storyline and previous ones showing Audrey and Josh meeting, and also her history with Fred. We also follow the pair after the wedding and discover who Audrey feels the most drawn to.
This novel was fine, it wasn’t revolutionary but it was easy to dip in and out of. I wasn’t particularly invested in Audrey’s relationship with either man and also found the events following the wedding to be a little far fetched and didn’t quite add up to what was said previously. However I still enjoyed the warmth Sophie Cousens brought to the story and that Audrey found her way in the end.
*Thank you Hodder and Netgalley for the copy!
What a book! A fantastic read, funny , hilarious at times but with a bit of substance as well . The reader is kept engaged from the start. Audrey is due to marry Josh when Fred , who she spent one magical day with turns up for the wedding with Josh’s sister. Dual timeline, past and present as Audrey ponders her dilemma . Real life was put on hold for a while !
A highly recommended emotional read
Thank you to Netgalley, Hodder and Stoughton and Sophie Cousens for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
Audrey's relationship with her mother was rather similar to my own, meaning it was at times a little difficult to read.
I also found the writing style a little off for my liking, the back and forth before the wedding is not a trope I enjoy reading.
First of all, I'd like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I did understand Audrey's relationship with her mum as I have a similar one with my own. However, this aspect of the story wasn't enough to keep me gripped.
Unfortunately I DNF'd this book at 35%, I've been trying to read this book since November, and while I have previously enjoyed Cousens writing, I didn't particularly like or care for any of the characters in this book.
I'm sure other people would and have enjoyed this book, but unfortunately it's just not my cup of tea.
I enjoyed this book and the realistic depiction of how messy life can be. It was fast paced and the time hoping aided my interest in the storyline. I did however struggle to really feel connected to Audrey or her mum. I’m not sure if this is due to the big gap in my starting and finishing the book, or due to the book itself.
Overall I’ve given this one a 3/5 stars.
Before I Do is the perfect book to lose yourself in for an afternoon or during a commute to work. Tender, romantic and laugh out loud funny, it's full of characters you love and has really original and engaging plot.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for approving me for an ARC of this book. This was my first Sophie Cousens but it will not be my last!
😆This book had me giggling from start to finish. The quick one-liners, witty remarks and hilarious scenarios; remind me to never attempt a romantic gesture, and had me grinning from ear to ear.
💘Audrey’s predicament was so much more than cold feet. As we dived further into her past and learnt more about her, her relationship with her mum and Josh you could understand where all the fear and anxiety had come from.
👵🏻I have to give a shout-out to Granny Parker because she was absolutely fabulous! My favourite secondary character hands down, she was wise and definitely knew what was happening before anyone else did but she wasn’t pushy or trying to take over.
⭐Sophie Cousens tackles some heavy issues within these pages making the story all the more relatable. An absolute joy from start to finish!
The book started out strong, and I thought that it was going to be a top read. The further I got though the more it dragged on. By the end, I was just reading it because I wanted to know how it was going to finish.
Everything was ok, I just didn't feel like there was anything that truly grabbed me about the book. The idea was a really good one, however, it just didn't quite work for me. Especially since the ending felt like a very forced 'happily ever after' since she had spent the rest of the book talking about why he wasn't the person she wanted to marry.
I'm sure there are lot's of people who will love this book. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC, the views above are my own and are freely given
Unfortuantely didn't finish this one. I was really looking forward to it, but I am TERRIBLE with love triangles. Looking forward to the next Sophie C book.
This book was, unfortunately, not as good as This Time Next Year but was definitely interesting to watch Audrey try to figure out if she was marrying the right guy for her or whether her life's path would've been better aligned with the one who got away. Definitely brings up those questions in the reader as well. Like I said, pretty solid, just not as good as I had hoped.
I really, really enjoyed this one - a great page turner that I devoured in record time. Easy to read with well developed characters and a great storyline.
Audrey is in quite the predicament. The day before she’s supposed to marry Josh, a great guy who she’s known for years, she gets hit with a blast from the past in the form of Fred, someone she spent a wonderful day with 6 years ago and then never saw again until he shows up at the rehearsal dinner as the date of Josh’s sister. This obviously brings back memories…some sweet, some bitter. As the wedding gets closer and closer with hours to spare, Audrey can’t stop thinking about the past…and can’t help but wonder if she’s making the right decision to get married.
This was such a wonderful book. Author Sophie Cousens does a phenomenal job of going from past to present and back again, keeping this reader intrigued. I had no idea who Audrey was going to end up with until almost the end, and that kept me flipping the pages well into the night.
