I read this book in one day when I was on holiday, and it was a nice, light holiday read. The concept was great, and could have been an incredible story, but it just felt a bit flat and didn't have much depth (which was perfect for a beach read!).

If you want something akin to The Un-Honeymooners, this might work for you. I enjoyed it, and is great for what it is!

Phoebe Macleod's "Someone Else's Honeymoon" was off to a good start. But it all goes downhill from there.

This book's premise elicited a lot of intrigue and excitement from me. And I'll admit, the first chapter was fun, but I did find the toothbrush ordeal to be a tad bit frustrating. I wanted to smack her ex on the head so bad.

After that, I believe it took too long for the two MC's to interact, so it felt exhausting to read everything that came after the breakup. I'm also not a huge fan of instalove, so it didn't sit well with me. Because of that, I didn't feel any chemistry between the two characters and I wish the book could have given us more time to fall in love with their process of falling in love (if that makes sense).

In the end, it felt very mid to me. The book was cute but it was also terribly lacking.

(Side note: I saw someone's review where they said something about the book's cover and I'm afraid I have to agree with them. I don't know why there's three people on the cover. Maybe the other woman is the guy's fiancee? idk but it's bugging me just a bit T^T)

a cute, quick read. i’ll be honest and say i don’t really recommend this book as i wasn’t too thrilled with the plot.

I found this one to be a really night, light and easy read! A sweet little romcom. I did find that the first portion of the book was a bit slow to start off with and found myself struggling to make my way through but did it enjoy more as the book went on.
All in all this book wasn’t my favourite but I know others will love it.

The story
Charlotte has been with Josh for ten years, from school to studying, they are living together when they break up on Christmas Day. An argument goes wrong and then she discovers he is actually involved with someone he works with. Charlotte goes to stay with her family, and has the chance to reinvent herself. Her parents spoiled her with a fancy holiday with them in Antigua where she meets Ed. He’s there on his honeymoon that never happened.

My thoughts
While this is a sweet story, I struggle with the first person, blow-by-blow in the present tense style of writing that is used in this story. There is a lot of detail about everyday life in every aspect of the story. I enjoyed how Charley gets her act together and grows into a more independent woman as the story progresses.

A nice and light rom com. It does seem a little dated as others have said. I would remove the reference to a family visiting breeders for a puppy, at least send them to a rescue or something. It was nice that the leads family have a healthy relationship with no drama. The friendship between Charley and Mads was nice too. The romance was cute as well. Easy afternoon read.

I really enjoyed this easy going romance. It was a quick and easy read, with plenty of family relationships, friendships and boyfriends. I particularly enjoyed the setting (felt very familiar) and storyline of how they meet on their honeymoon. I recommend this book as a light hearted beach read, perfect for the summer.

Well this was a cute, easy breezy read.

Charley meets Ed while he's on his honeymoon, bride-less after been stood up at the altar. Charley and Ed click straight away and spend their holiday together, but circumstances mean that despite falling for each other, they don't get in touch when they get home.

Really cute story, not too taxing on the brain. This would make a perfect holiday read!

When Charley is dumped by her cheating ex, she has to move home with her parents. She ends up going on vacation with them and meets Ed, who is there on his "honeymoon." They strike up a relationship but are separated. I really struggled with this book. The first 40% of the book was like a long, drawn out diary entry. There were way too many insignificant moments of the story, like multiple days of work with details that weren't important to the story. We don't even meet Ed until almost halfway through and when we do their interaction felt unrealistic and forced. I felt no chemistry with them and couldn't really get behind the premise of the book. While this book wasn't FOR ME, I'm sure others will enjoy it.

I enjoyed this book from first time (to me) author, Phoebe MacLeod.

Charley was a relateable character and I found myself not only feeling for her, but also rooting for her and cheering her on. Someone Else's Honeymoon was laugh out loud in places, but just en enjoyable summer read.

I felt like some scenes dragged on a bit, and then some of the other scenes were rushed when they could have been much more detailed. But all in all I enjoyed this story, and I would definitely like to read more from Phoebe.

This was a lovely hilarious rom com! If you love to romance this is the book for you. I loved how this book explored misunderstandings in funny and witty ways.

This book defiantly gave off summer vibes and while it was cute, it felt kind of already done before. The writing was also rushed at times and it was also very dry and slow in places.

I was really excited about this book. Upon reading the description, it gave me a similar vibe to The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, which is a favorite of mine. I was actually really excited to start reading it and honestly the first couple chapters had a strong start.

The first chapter was actually hilarious. Charley our FMC is given a toothbrush for Christmas from her super eco-friendly/vegan boyfriend which sets off the fight she's been putting off for quite a while. Realizing how unhappy she's been with his choices and actions, she rants to him about where she's been frustrated, leaving him to ask for a "break." As she's packing for said-break, she discovers panties that definitely do not belong to her and leads to her breakup, sending her back to her parents' house and trying to make sense of her life.

I thought the book started off on such a strong note. This chapter was so funny and really hooked me, however, it quickly became very slow. The book starts giving full chapters of Charley just doing mundane activities, such as getting her hair done, shopping for a bra, buying a car, looking for an apartment, etc. We don't even meet Ed, the love interest, until 43% through the book! And even then, I still wanted to give it a chance, despite the "insta-love" / "I'm falling in love with this man" after two days. Once we meet Ed on Charley's vacation, there are extremely long descriptions of their activities (windsurfing, etc) as well and it all seemed very rushed. It didn't even seem like she was on "someone else's honeymoon," instead, it felt more like "3 days with Ed." I also just didn't get the whole jealous personal assistant aspect, because that also felt just disconnected and rushed through.

I really wanted to love this book. I didn't hate it, but I feel like it missed so much of its potential. If those hair appointment and shopping chapters were cut, and we meet the love interest a lot sooner- giving the reader a chance to also fall in love with Ed, I feel like the story would've been so much stronger. I gave the book 3 stars for the parts I enjoyed, but I do think it could've been even better had a different direction been taken.

I absolutely ADORED the premise of this book. However, I felt like it never truly took off. There were parts that I enjoyed, but I never got enough of the love story, the conflict, or the resolution. I wanted more in all aspects.

The cover of this book screams romance, but we don’t meet the love interest until nearly halfway through the book. This gives us a ton of time to fall in love with Charley (FMC), but I want to fall in love with the couple - - not just one half. The meet cute was a 5/5, but we waited so long for it that we didn’t get enough time to get to know Ed. It felt a bit insta-love for me, which was disappointing because there was sooo much opportunity for it to be something more.

This book was overall good and very straight forward. It will make a great beach read for many folks!

I couldn’t get past 10% of this book. The main character starts off talking about how she’s popular in high school. Then her boyfriend cheats on her which okay I can get past it was a small part of the story. Then it comes to present day and her new boyfriend cheats on her again and reveals an entire affair. Not my thing, did not keep reading.

The premise of this book was amazing and it had so much potential.

Charley becomes single and homeless on Christmas Day as she finds out her boyfriend has been cheating for sometime now. She moves in with her parents, who are kind enough to invite her on their trip to Antigua.
On the first day of the trip itself she meets a man who is on his honeymoon alone. As all the honeymoon activities are paid and should not go to waste, Charley joins Ed for activities like windsurfing, waterskiing and couples massage.

This had a lot of potential to be super funny, cute, and chill. And it mostly was, but it left me wanting for more.

Charley gets dumped on Christmas Day by her cheating boyfriend and ends up moving back in with her parents. To cheer her up they take her in their planned holiday where she meets Ed after sitting on a sun lounger belonging to the honeymoon suite
It turns out Ed was dumped after his bride on a reality TV show didn't show up. As they get chatting Ed offers Charley the use of the lounger and that they pal up to make use of the free facilities he has from his non wedding
As you expect things move on in the romance department but things go wrong on the last day and circumstances stop them being able to contact each other. Both believe the other isn't interested until a friend steps in and lends a hand
A nice easy read

This really should be a 3.75 star review .. I really enjoyed reading this story. I'm a sucker for a good romcom and with a UK setting I'm hear for it. I love this this book gives us the story of Charley self growth and transformation and even with a second chance at love mixed in at the end. If your a fan of the reality dating shows this book is for you. I really enjoyed the chemistry with Ed and Charley and I felt that the story moved at a good pace.

The story follows Charley, who finds out her ex (Josh) cheated on her, and she finds this out on Christmas. The first chunk of the book goes through her break up, and then her makeover as she finds Charley without Josh. Near the halfway point is when Charley goes to Antigua with her parents, where we meet Ed, who was supposed to be on his honeymoon. As the title suggests it is someone else’s honeymoon, and after Ed was stood up at the altar, he enjoys the honeymoon activities with Charley.

It was cute, the story was nice, but for me it felt that certain parts were too drawn out or too rushed. The title implied a honeymoon, and it took up about a fourth of the book to a little less than half of the book, which I feel like was very short and rushed. Yet Charley being dumped, finding herself, and coming home from vacation and trying to reconnect with Ed seemed so drawn out. Although I was invested in the characters, I felt more invested in Charley and Josh’s story since I knew more about Josh. Ed was someone Charley met on vacation and spent time with, but we didn’t know a ton more other than his line of work, and the relationship that he had been pursuing prior to the show.

Another point I was not fond of was while they were on vacation, slavery was brought up, which I do understand is a part of the history of Antigua, but the way it was used within the story seemed as if it was brought up to be a plot point for the main characters rather than facing the reality of what happens which seemed distasteful to me.

It was a quick read, a cute whirlwind romance that ended in a HEA, but overall I wanted more from the book than what was given. I feel if we knew more about Ed, or spent more time with Charley and Ed on someone else’s honeymoon it would have been a much more enjoyable read.

Someone Else’s honeymoon is a cute, feel good romance. It was a quick read that I was able to read in one sitting. It’s a good read if you are by the pool or beach. Thanks NetGalley and Phoebe Macleod for giving me an ARC in order for an honest opinion.
