2/5 ⭐️
This book felt really dated in comparison to when it’s being released. I felt like I was reading a book from the early 2000’s.
It was a really quick and easy read. It has a love triangle sort of plot which make it (in my eyes, even more annoying) because love triangles, if not written perfectly, tend to piss me off.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad book but there was nothing in this book the stood out to me.

Someone Else’s Honeymoon
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Thank you NetGalley and Phoebe MacLeod for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Spending 10 years with your best friend sounds like the dream - until they start to change in ways that make them unrecognizable. Charley is fine with her wanna-be hippie boyfriend Josh who has adopted a Save-the-Plant lifestyle which includes making them both go vegan. After all, people do crazy things when they’re in love, right?

But when Charley finds someone else’s panties under her bed she realizes Josh hasn’t been as faithful to her as she thought.

In an effort to cheer her up, her parents take her on a vacation to the Caribbean where she meets Ed, who is on his honeymoon - without his wife. Left at the alter, Ed is taking the opportunity to avoid the “what happeneds” and “I’m sorrys” by enjoying some peace and quiet while he thinks about what he will do next.

Their relationship develops as Ed invites Charley to participate in all of the activities that were supposed to be done by the newlyweds.

This story instantly interested me because it gave off the same vibe as The Unhoneymooners! Unfortunately, I was disappointed to see that it took over half of the book before we even met Ed. I appreciated the character development and backstory for Charley, but felt there was so much emphasis on her break-up and changing her dated appearance that the romance felt like an afterthought.

I’m always a fan of a whirlwind romance, but this almost felt too rushed when there was ample time for the characters to truly develop in their relationship - I was hoping to learn more about each of them and to watch their love grow.

This story is a quick read and very cute - definitely a fast read if you’re looking for a feel-good romance. However, it just didn’t check the boxes I was looking for!

Well, this is boring AH. Though I hate DNF-ing, this once I decided to do the right thing and stop wasting my time after around 20% in - I can't imagine it getting any better, it never does.

I loved this story, it was full of warmth, charm and humour and I enjoyed every moment, a sequel would be good too although not really necessary but I didn't want to reach the end

This was a pretty good one a tad bit slow but good nonetheless. It's the kind of book you would complete in one go and which uplifts your mood as it goes on.

I thought this was such a nice, cute romance! I loved the setting and the relationship growth throughout the book! I felt that the end was a bit rushed, but overall I really enjoyed it as a nice, quick summer read.

This book follows Charley whose 10 year relationship ends on Christmas day. She has to rebuild her life on her own and goes on a much needed vacation with her parents where she meets Ed who is on his honeymoon, alone. I read this book in one sitting because it was a fast read. The book starts off slow, and you don't meet Ed til around 40% into the book. I enjoyed seeing her rebuild her life but it made to romance part feel rushed to me.

I genuinely enjoyed the book and felt like it was the perfect summer read and was dreaming on the Antigua beaches!

This was perfectly fine, but honestly, not the romance book of the summer that I think you necessarily need to rush to pick up. In fact, you've probably read this exact same book before but with characters that were less forgettable and a plot that felt a bit less outdated and inauthentic. I didn't really understand the chemistry between Ed and Charley, and other things in this book just felt somewhat off in a way I can't describe other than to say that I read a lot of romance and this truly doesn't compare. If you read this you will probably not HATE it, but you might feel like you wasted your time.

The premise of this book was amazing and it had so much potential. It also had a pretty good length, enough not to become too much and pretty breezy for a rom-com.

Charley gets dumped on Christmas and she finds herself single after ten years, trying to find her way. To cheer her up, her parents treat her to a holiday in the Caribbean, where she meets Ed, who is on his honeymoon. Except the wife, whom he never met, left him at the altar. This had a lot of potential to be super funny, cute, and chill. And it mostly was, but it left me wanting for more.

To be honest, I feel like Charley and Ed's relationship was pretty much insta-love, although the build-up was pretty good. The two had connected, talked, and had a lot of activities together, which seemed great. But then, out of a sudden, characters were throwing the "love" word after only a couple of days together. Which... nope.

Charley was pretty great at the beginning, but she was quite judgmental (although, to be honest, a lot of us are, while few truly admit it), and she spent money like crazy. How was she that rich to buy a car, get a new phone without blinking, shop for expensive clothes, and get a new apartment? Like damn, girl.

Also, how did Ed, a successful lawyer only been with two women in his life? Come on. Everyone has time for flings. Maybe the author could've given the characters more depth, and made them seem less outdated. It felt like the characters were from the 90s or something.

After being dumped on Christmas by her boyfriend of 10 years Charley is thrust out into a completely new world and life. She reconnects with her family who support her during this time and does the typical new me, new hair, new wardrobe type deal with her best friend. Then her parents invite her on a trip with them to the beach where we meet sweet Ed. We find out Ed is on his “honeymoon” after being left at the alter by a woman he’d never actually met. Charley and Ed’s relationship starts out from that conversation and we follow along with their “honeymoon” vacation from there.
This book started out really comically with the nature of the beginning breakout. It was moving along great but I was confused that we didn’t meet Ed until almost halfway into the book. The writing both felt rushed at times and a little slow at other parts. I can say I was never invested in the lives of the characters and felt like a lot of the filler information over powered the main story.
I didn’t love the instant connection of Ed and Charley and honestly didn’t feel the chemistry between them. I liked the overall idea how how they meet but there was just that spark missing.
Overall I’d say:
⭐️ ⭐️ for storyline
🌶 for spice
✨ appreciate the British humor and sarcasm

The cover absolutely caught my attention! I am a sucker for a good rom-com. Someone Else's Honeymoon was a beautiful written, a warm hearted read, and one you'd not want to put down. The characters are easy to relate to, you'll go through all the emotions (sad, mad and happy) but the story is realistic and great chemistry between the characters. I found this book had just the right amount of drama so it was not too angsty. TOverall a cute romance! Great to read an up lifting book for a change of pace.

DNF at 53%

This was not for me. Initially, I enjoyed the narration. It felt witty and unconventional. Unfortunately, that quickly evolved into a lot of descriptions of basic, mundane tasks that Charley, the main character, was doing. it felt like there was a lot of unnecessary meandering in the beginning chapters that could have been shortened or cut entirely.

Additionally, though this book is marketed as a romance, the love interest for Charley is not introduced until nearly half the book has come and gone. And while their meet-cute caught my interest, insta-love happened and that's never something I enjoy.

I applaud the author for the creative premise though.

Charley breaks up with her long-time boyfriend on Christmas Day and truly feels like everything has fallen apart. She moves back in with her parents who have grown accustomed to vacationing at a resort every February and insist she goes with them. While there, she meets Ed who is supposed to be on his honeymoon but he was stood up at the alter. While at the resort, they spend lots of time together and after some miscommunication about the reality tv show he is on happens, they go back without being able to contact each other. Will they be able to find each other or will other things stand in their way?

Definitely one of the cutest books I have read this year. I though the beginning was a little slow with too much backstory, but I loved the rest.

You know when you watch old episodes of Sex and the City and you internally cringe because it didn’t necessarily age very well? This book has a lot of those moments (slut shaming, lack of empowering other women, dated jokes, etc.) despite being written in the present day and with none of the nostalgia re-watching Sex and the City episodes gives me. If you can get past these moments the overall premise is honestly fun.

This is a British rom com where the MC Charley has recently been broken up with by her boyfriend of ten years and her parents invite her along (expenses paid) on their trip to Antigua. Naturally, she says yes and joins them on this trip. While on this trip Charley meets Ed, who has recently been on a reality show where you get married to someone you’ve never met, except he was left at the altar and chose to take the honeymoon alone.

Ed and Charley go from 0 to 100 very quickly and definitely fall into the “instalove” trope.

There’s a particular comment from Charley’s friend while looking at Ed’s LinkedIn profile where she says that none of the romantic strolls or star gazing together counts if the sex was bad and that comment really, really put me off. Those sweet romantic moments are not negated by this, ever. There are so many kinds of romantic relationships including those that have and enjoy sex and none of the other moments get canceled out by how good or bad or how much or how little sex you’re having. Sex is so deeply personal to individuals I find this kind of exclusionary comment enraging.

The jealous woman stereotype that Ed’s PA plays into also wasn’t something I loved nor was the constant miss of communication.

Overall, I’m giving this one 2.5 stars. There’s good bones in there of something that has potential to be a great story but it just fell flat.

I actually REALLY enjoyed this one?!!!

It was light and cute and perfect and it helped me get out of my reading slump???

Very enjoyable and fluffy and while there were a few problems, those are easily overlooked because the premise of the book, I felt, was self care??

When you've been with someone so long, without breathing room and breaks, it makes you lose yourself in it. While I understand this, I think it could have been a bit better represented.

But anywho! A full 5 stars for me!!

If we’re being honest, this was almost a DNF for me. But I pushed through. It was cute enough, probably would’ve been a quick read if I dedicated the time to it. It just lacked some depth and felt like it was just pulled together too quickly. The plot line was good but I just never felt that pull to keep reading to figure it out. It was incredibly obvious what was going to happen from page 1. If you want a quick, cute read, it’s probably fine. But just not my favorite at all.

I actually really liked this book. I love the shows married at first sight and things like that I am so intrigued by people. So I think that was one of the main reasons why I liked this book so much. Because it was like watching a series of that program.

Someone else's honeymoon is a generally lighthearted rom-com that tried to be cute but ended up falling really flat. The chemistry between the MCs was very minimal and the writing style and general tone felt lacking. I think this book had amazing potential, given the premise, but really failed to build captivating characters and a plot that was beyond the basics.

I requested this book because it was goving me The Unhoneymooners vibes meets Emily Henry books. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me. I didn't get that far into it to realize the banter felt like a tennis volley. Back and forth forever. Comment. Response. Comment. Response. Plus it felt like it was trying to appeal to adults way too fast, right out of the gate, with sexual commentary. Just a bit out of nowhere. Not for me.

This book was ok. It was cute but there was no heat between the two characters and I didn’t feel like there was any real drama keeping home apart. I found myself skimming their conversations because they were so banal and boring. I didn’t really care if they got together by the end. I rarely give reviews like this but this book was a bit of a disappointment.
