I requested this book because it was goving me The Unhoneymooners vibes meets Emily Henry books. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me. I didn't get that far into it to realize the banter felt like a tennis volley. Back and forth forever. Comment. Response. Comment. Response. Plus it felt like it was trying to appeal to adults way too fast, right out of the gate, with sexual commentary. Just a bit out of nowhere. Not for me.

This book was ok. It was cute but there was no heat between the two characters and I didn’t feel like there was any real drama keeping home apart. I found myself skimming their conversations because they were so banal and boring. I didn’t really care if they got together by the end. I rarely give reviews like this but this book was a bit of a disappointment.

4 stars

The story follows the life of Charlotte and progresses through dreary England to stunning Antigua and back to England - where it may not as be as grey anymore after she meets Ed, whilst on vacation. The plot focuses mostly on Charley, her feelings and her healing process after she breaks up with her douche ex. I enjoyed every minute of her life whilst I was in it! Even when her romance with Ed was presented, I still found myself grappled by her character development than anything else. She was downright hilarious and relatable, which curated such a great story. I would have loved to get more of her, but it was very satisfying as she got her life together and got an ending she deserved.

okay, wait..

A cute read that gives you everything you would be looking for in an easy read. This books gives the perfect insight into the heroine's life, her ups and downs, her break -up and her sudden romance with a man she met on vacation, Ed.

In fact, this was such an easy read that there was nothing overly complex about the entire plot. It was digestible without much thought to be given.

All the side characters tie this story together quite nicely and there was no major unresolved conflict at the end aka it ended quite predictably.

so, to read or not to read?

It is an easy and great read, nothing left for you to ponder over. In fact, it may be too flawless - if that is your thing well here you have a great book for you. It was indeed a good read, and pretty enjoyable!

This is the perfect book to read when you're in a bad mood or generally burnt out, and just need an easy, lighthearted pick-me-up. It's like the far more tame little sister of Christina Lauren's hit The Unhoneymooners. There's not much in the way of depth, but Charley and Ed are likable and it's the kind of escapist vacation romance we all long to have for ourselves. If only it were as easy as it is for Charley, who somehow falls into a beautiful little romp with a wonderful man. It was refreshing to read something that didn't have any kind of agenda or social issues wrapped into its plot or characters. We're just allowed to have a fun read without worrying about Charley's finances or any kind of abuse she's suffering at the hands of an asshole boss or the system at large. There's no real antagonist, save for a jealous personal assistant (that's not a spoiler-- literally the second it's mentioned, you'll know that's going to be a roadblock down the line), and no major conflict. Some people will criticize the book for that, but it's a short enough story that you don't need anything deeper.

Loved this book! I am obsessed with the show Married at First Sight so the slightly-veiled similarity in plot made me smile!

A fun and heartwarming Ron-com - you can devour Someone Else’s Honeymoon in a day! Which is exactly what I did.

Our MC Charley is great, I loved how she was written and thoroughly enjoyed following her story. However I was sad that we didn’t really meet our main man until nearly halfway through the book. He had so much potential to be a great book boyfriend but there was quite limited build up to the relationship so it all felt a bit rushed rather than that building anticipation I love.

Overall a strong 3star read - in my books not a rom-com hall of fame but still worth a read for sure!

In this book we follow Charley, who finds herself single on Christmas, and Ed, who was jilted at the altar by his to-be bride (who he'd never met). They meet at a holiday location where Ed was supposed to have his honeymoon and Charley is trying to get over her ex.

Now, the premise of this sounded really good. And it could've been made into something amazing, but unfortunately, did not deliver. Firstly, the thing that irritated me the most is that the other main character, Ed, appears when you're 44% into the book! That's just too much of Charley in every chapter. This was supposed to be a romance, but if the main hero doesn't even appear in the first half of the book, why is it not being marketed as a book where Charley is trying to navigate a break-up or something like that? Secondly, the writing is not good. It felt like either the editor was not interested in editing this book, or the author wasn't enthusiastic about the plot of her own book. It seemed childish and honestly, dragged out.

I finally had to stop reading when the production people are interviewing Ed, who specifically instructed Charley to not make a noise if she doesn't want to be involved in that world, but she of course does the opposite. That was really dumb and irritating.

Overall, I was really excited to give this book a chance after reading the interesting plot but the writing and the pace was really juvenile.

This book was a cute! Charlotte aka Charley is the focus in this story, and we follow her throughout her post-breakup with Josh; her self-discovery; and watched (or should I say “read”) as she opened up to a new love. It was fairly slow as far as build-up & action/drama goes in the beginning, but I did appreciate all the small and intricate details. Her best friend Mads, seems like a friend I would love to have in my life - so supportive, takes initiative, and is the best sort of hype-woman to have as a bestie! Once Charley got to the beach in Antigua - that’s when the pace started to pick up.
⭐️
The plot consists of 2 main situations: 1. Charley and her boyfriend broke up, so she is now spending time with her family and going on a trip to Antigua, and, 2. Ed was supposed to be on his honeymoon while being filmed for a reality TV show, called Married Before We Met.
Charley & Ed meet and get to know each other while in Antigua- but when it comes time for Ed to head home they lose contact with minimal shared information…. If they are able to find each other is a question you’ll be able to answer if you read this book. 😉
⭐️
Charley & Ed are both so kind, and Charley’s parents rooting for them is the sweetest. I found the whole encounter hilarious when Ed met Charley’s parents. 😂 And the dinner on Ed’s balcony - 1. Swoon worthy!! And 2. The food they ate sounded DELICIOUS. 😋

What a cute, heartwarming story.
The characters were super cute, but I felt like it had a lot of unnecessary filler in the beginning as the honeymoon doesn't actually start until halfway through the book.
It's definitely worth a read, just be aware of the slow pace and you'll definitely love it!

I really enjoyed this book! It was a light hearted romantic comedy and I was very invested in the main character. It had the perfect amount of charming fun and you are rooting for the main character the entire time. Great for a quick, refreshing read. Highly recommend!

What drew me to this book was the cover and the description. I love a good meet cute story.

It was a cute read, however the action/honeymoon didn’t start until almost halfway through the book. The first half of the book was a bit bland - and then the story really started happening. I hoped for a bit more drama between the main characters.

Overall it was a cute, easy, enjoyable read. Spice level is very minimal.

I had a hard time getting into Someone Else’s Honeymoon. I loved the characters, they had depth, you understood them, I felt like I could fit in with them if we were friends. The storyline was cute, I liked the ups and downs of Charlotte’s relationships, both with family, friends and lovers. I think this book was just too slow paced for me. Normally, this would be a book that would have me completely enthralled and looking for more but even though it hit all of its marks, funny, raw, sweet and real, I just felt myself getting bored at times.

I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly the summer romance I needed. I loved the sweet love story between Ed and Charlotte who both needed a vacation after being jilted at the altar and broken up with at Christmas, respectively. I adored the British humour and references. I was pleasantly surprised by how the slow introduction to the characters served as a perfect base for everything to develop from. I could not stop smiling while I read this and there were a couple of times that I actually laughed out loud, scaring the people around me. My only wish is that this book were longer since I was so engaged with the characters that I practically read it all in one sitting. This book is perfect for any romance lover who needs a great summer read whether by the pool, on the beach, or hiding from the sun.

I recieved this book as an ARC and thought it might be a cute, quick and easy read and that‘s exactly what it was. The writing felt a little rushed at times and I felt like there was depth missing and the story could‘ve been better over all. But all things considered it was okay. Some things didn‘t sit right with me but at the end the book was cute. Would I recommend it? Honestly I don‘t know, I feel like you could go without reading this one.

This was a cute beach holiday read! Very likeable characters (except Josh), a fun setting in Antigua, romantic moments, lots of good humor. It wasn’t hard to root for Charley and Ed! I really loved Charley’s parents and Mads too. They were fun side characters. The book kept my interest all throughout reading, but it wasn’t necessarily unputdownable. I liked how Charley’s makeover wasn’t so crazy to where she wasn’t herself anymore. I liked that she went with clothes and hair that still said her, only a bit more polished. Overall, this was a light, fun beach read and definitely makes me want to travel ASAP!

A huge thanks to Bookouture for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

The book follows Charley who was dumped on Christmas by her boyfriend of years. Her whole world is turned upside down and so she does what every reasonable does in her case and moves back home with her parents. Her parents then invite her on vacation with them to just breathe and relax where she meets Ed, who was left at the altar. What could two heartbroken people have in common? I enjoyed this romance book as the plot was unique, the characters relatable and the setting superb,

I loved the concept of this book. Often romance novels focus solely on the pretty parts of our lives and fail to mention the realities. Charley’s failed 10-year relationship is the kind of thing that happens and seeing how she struggled and then pulled herself together, created a new life for herself, and moved on from the past was incredibly real.

The characters were charming – Charley’s parents, her friends, and Ed. They were easily likable and made the less interesting parts of the story/life more vibrant. Ed was a fantastic counter part for Charley and they complimented each other so well throughout.

I do think that there was maybe almost too much detail in the book. Parts of it were slower and seemed almost over explained, but it paints the whole picture and doesn’t just focus on the romance aspect of the book.

Everything about the story was easy, comfortable, and low key. I enjoyed it. The "drama" was not super out there or unbelievable. There were things that were problematic or made me cringe, that would have been easy to edit out or update, such as the way they treated the "other women."

Both Charley and Ed have found themselves recently single and on vacation as they each try to heal from their respective heartbreak. I was really excited about this set up, but disappointed about how long it took before the two actually met. There was a little bit too much build up for my liking. I think some of the backstory could have been told as flashbacks/memories after the couple met, giving them a little more page-time together.

Because of how frustrated I was in the first half, I kind of struggled with the second half of the novel. Overall, it wasn't bad but it also wasn't quite the book for me. That said, I would absolutely still recommend it to anyone who enjoys vacation romances, especially those set around the holidays.
