Someone Else's Honeymoon follows the main character Charley, who mets a man name Ed, who is on his honeymoon alone after being left at the altar. This is a great ROMCOM type book that will make you smile and laugh at time. I will say for me the book was a little slow to start and it takes a little bit to get into it. But once you do, it moves quickly.

A good beach read by Phoebe MacLeod.

Honestly, it was a struggle, but I finished it anyway. I loved an idea of the book and I was intrigued by the title. The cover was great too and i had my expectations up. It could be something enjoyable, however all super detailed descriptions of almost everything killed all sparks.
I was third part through, but the main character was nowhere to be seen. I almost lost my hope to meet him. No worries, he is waiting in the middle.😉 By that time he finally appeared, I learned everything about eco-friendly things, how to pick right bra etc. (Could be useful)
Conclusion: If I hadn't been so responsible to finish it, I would have quit it somewhere in the beginning.

This was super short but I had a good time. I don't love that they spent so much time apart but considering the fast burn I think it worked.

I didn't add my review to GoodReads, because I did not want to bring the ratings down. It wasn't that it was a bad book or bad writing, it just wasn't for me. And I don't want that to hurt the hard working author and publishers.

This book, for me, was boring. The main idea was a really great one, and why I wanted to read it. However, there is so much wasted time. This is evident by the fact that we don't even meet the love interest until halfway through. It really felt like there was a bunch of filler. The characters were really bland, and there wasn't any witty banter. There really wasn't even any conversation. Just a recap given by a dislikable, one dimensional character.

Someone Else's Honeymoon by Phoebe MacLeod is my first read from this author and I must say that it was the perfect tonic for a lazy summer's day.

Charlotte has just found out that her long-term boyfriend Josh has been cheating on her after ten years together. Returning to her family home to lick her wounds, Charley us delighted when her parents offer to take her on a two week vacation to Antigua. A chance meeting on the beach with handsome Ed might be just the impetus to get back on the horse, but nothing is as straightforward as it seems, and Ed reveals that he is in Antigua as part of a reality show and has recently been left at the altar. Will these two lonely souls find solace in each other and find their way to happily ever after?

While the circumstances might seem highly improbable, this is an ultimately charming tale that will have you rooting for Charley all the way.

This book was just okay. I feel like the first third of the book really dragged a lot and could have been condensed to 2-3 chapters instead of like 10. My main issue was the main character Charlotte, she did not feel real in the slightest from her not having a phone plan to the way she spoke to the way she fell into instalove with the love interest. The only relatable part of her was that she wore worn-out underwear and sports bras all of the time. Ed also felt very 2d to me, all we really learn from him is that he is a divorce attorney and was jilted at the altar by his bride whom he met on a dating show. The book also just overly described things on the vacation that were not important in the slightest when it should have been focusing on the relationship between Ed and Charley. My favorite part of the book was by far Mads, Charley's best friend. She was hilarious and just great and acted the way that I would want my best friend to act. I think that this book just needed major edits because the premise was great. Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I think this book would work well as women’s fiction as I feel it’s more about the main character finding herself again. The romance takes awhile to start. It’s a slow burn and not as important to the story as the main character discovering herself. If you enjoy women’s fiction about rediscovering oneself with a slow burn romance added in, then you will enjoy this light and fun summer read. The book follows the fmc Charley after ending a long term relationship and going on holiday with her parents where she meets Ed. The book was a very sweet easy read. It takes almost half way through the book to meet the mmc and if i wish more of it was focused on their relationship and making a connection, it did feel like some parts in the book were unnecessary. Overall an enjoyable read

Written in British English this charming single point of view story follows Charley through her experiences of loss, heartaches, and new discoveries.

I love that the character were not too over dramatized, you get the sad, mad and happy and its all very realistic. The characters are well defined and the chemistry between them is just right. Charley's best friend really adds some humor in there too.

I found this book had just the right amount of drama so it was not too angsty. There is lots of detail throughout. I would have loved to see a little more Ed in the story. Overall a cute romance!

i thought this could've been a fun and breezy summer read if it didn't take too long to get to the interesting parts. there were a lot of unncessary details and actions that should've been skipped so we could enjoy more of the story. i personally didn't really enjoy this book, and didn't feel a particular connection to the characters, their backstories and the plot that brought them together. but a lot of people seemed to like it, so it's definitely just a me thing!

First of all thank you so much for allowing me to read this story! I really did enjoy the book and the characters within it. My only issue with the book is that I felt it took too long for the story to developed. I did enjoy all the details in the beginning of it but Charley doesn’t meet Ed until almost half of the book. I would of loved to see more of Ed since maybe pass around the 30% mark of the book. Overall, the story was cute and the ending was beautiful! The epilogue was the bonus and cherry on top!

This is a very sweet, British rom-com and a quick read for a light-hearted summer book.

Charley lives with her boyfriend and on Christmas Day, after having been with him for many years since school, they break up. Charley goes back to live at home and in a plan to get over her ex, has a makeover and goes on new adventures.

This was a familiar and very predictable plot, as romance novels can often be, but it was still a fun read and recommended for fans of British, contemporary romance novels, such as Mhairi Macfarlane.

First off, I adored the cover. And the summary definitely had me intrigued.

Charley gets the boot from her high school sweetheart-turned-crunchy boyfriend and tags along with her parents on their annual Antigua trip. Ed finds himself wife-less on his honeymoon and he and Charley have a little meet cute on the beach. From there, the pair find themselves on an adventure spree...doing all the stuff and things that Antigua has to offer. Antigua seemed to bring both out of their comfort zones and let them grow.

This was cute book, but beware of the fact that they don't meet until about 40% of the way in. I almost want to classify it as a book about a woman finding herself after a breakup, with a little romance sprinkled in. So much of the book was about Charley getting back on her feet and finding a new normal rather than a meaty romance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed reading about Charlie and Ed, but I thought it took too long to get there. Once it got to the vacation, I really enjoyed it. I would have liked to see Ed’s PA get fired though!

Charley has just broken up with her incredibly annoying vegan boyfriend after he gives her a bamboo toothbrush for Christmas. And when she finds out he has been cheating on her.
To cheer her up, her parents take her on their yearly vacation to Antigua where Charley meets Ed who was just stood up at the alter as part of a reality dating show. Charley and Ed immediately hit it off and the story goes where you’d expect.
I did not enjoy this book. The plot was basic enough, however the writing was not good. I was constantly being dragged out of the story by the poor dialogue or clunky narration. When Ed and Charley first meet he launches into a ridiculous exposition about why he was in Antigua. I have a hard time buying this as a conversation between two strangers. There are other moments in the book when characters give long speeches for the sake of the audience which just wasn’t good.
Anyway the story was fine if predictable. with some extremely contrived moments peppered in, the writing just never allowed me to be absorbed in the story.

the cover and the title was very promising, but i needed to realise that I fidget the story i expected.

the was half of the book was really boring, and there was too many unnecessary informations and actions. all that could’ve happened in one chapter and not more than ten.
after the love interest came into the picture, all happened too fast. didn’t feel the connection and the emotions were left out. the whole storyline was flat.
the characters fell in love in three days and after they split up for half a year and the reason behind was very poor and eye rolling. but let’s be happy because they got their happy ending after all.

If you’re looking for a short/fast reading with romance, drama and funny moments, then this is your book.

The story begins with the main character, Charley, and how went her relationships wit her two last boyfriends (the second breaking up on Christmas before going visiting her parents).

She ends up staying at her parents house for a while, where everyone is so supportive, and we also have Mads, the best friend that helps with everything and entertains Charley (and also helps her improve herself).

While she’s looking for a new place to live, her parents decide on inviting her to a trip to Antigua. There, she meets Ed, who was left on the altar but has decided to not let his honeymoon go to waste…


If I had to choose what I liked the most about this book it would be Charley. She’s a woman that knows what she deserves and wants and fights for it. She also has the desire to leave the past boyfriends behind and get to her family and the bond with them.

I also liked Mads character so much, she’s so funny and supportive with Charley and she’s a real friend that tries not to change Charley but to make her feel better with herself.

What do you do when your boyfriend breaks up with you on Christmas? Get a makeover and go on vacation with your parents, of course! This is what Charley does when she finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Her parents offer her a trip with them and while there, she meets Ed, who happens to be on his honeymoon, even though he was left at the altar from a bride he has never even met. Sparks fly, but then they are separated. She tries to find him once she gets home, but it seems that she never will. Are they meant to be or not?

I really enjoyed this book. I love the stories where the girl gets right back up and moves on after a bad breakup. Charley lets her friend help her update her look and wardrobe, which she realizes she let get a bit drab during her relationship. She also changed some of her other habits that she had due to how her boyfriend expected her to live. She made some growth in terms of living her best life for her. When the old boyfriend wants to get back together, she knows it isn't right. She's moved on and is better off without him. There wasn't a lot of time spent with Ed, which I wish there had been, but the time that was there established a connection.

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, LOL in some places.

The overall story was a good idea and well written. It had a good tempo to it, and I found myself eager to carry on reading.

The main H&H were both likeable and had a good connection. I would of liked to see a bit more spark from the bedroom though, however this is just my personal opinion and doesn’t take away from the book.

I didnt feel like I was ready for the book to end and I'm still trying to figure out if the end was rushed or I enjoyed it so much I just didn't wasn’t it to be over.

Anyway, great book I loved it 5 stars from me. I'll definitely be reading this author again.
