I liked the premise of this book, but honestly found it a bit slow and missed the spice of a typical romance book. Not meeting the love interest until halfway through the book is a bit of a let down - I kept wondering when he would show up! Overall a nice story but not one of my favorites.

Our main character, Charley, finds herself suddenly single on Christmas day. It feels like her world has fallen apart until her parents invite her on a trip with them to Antigua. She finds herself on a sun lounger with Ed - living out his honeymoon alone after being stood up at the alter during a reality show gone wrong. As quick as fate brought them together, a mishap with a cellphone and Ed's assistant screening his calls, they are forced apart. Will they find their way back to each other or are they not meant to be?

This was cute enough to keep me reading, but it definitely felt rushed at times and lacked some depth. The premise was fun and there were some super cute moments with the MC's. It's a quick and easy read if that's what you're looking for.

I loved the concept of this book, and I do want to mention some positives. I loved the main character's bff (Mads). I thought she was fun and entertaining. I loved the private dinner scene with Charley and Ed. It was romantic and sweet. Contrary to what some of the other reviewers have said, I actually enjoyed the lack of spice. I think a spice filled scene would have felt forced and out of place in this particular book. Unfortunately, the overall book just never came together. It was too slow in the beginning. We should have gotten to the actual honeymoon/vacation earlier in the book. There were some unnecessary scenes that took up a good chunk of the book (makeover/her stay at her parents), and I felt that those pages could have been put to better use. I would love to give this author a second chance someday!

Charley’s 10 year relationship goes up in flames and she ends being invited to her parents annual vacation to Antigua. There, she meets Ed who is on his honeymoon - alone - after being left at the altar on a TV show that kind of sounds like the Bachelor, 4 Weddings and Married at First Sight had a baby. They decide to do all the activities that Ed had planned since they were paid for anyway and she ends up leaving Antigua with hopes that she can continue her relationship with Ed once they both get back to England. - I thought this was a super cute story and I love that Charley really learned about what she wanted out of life and learned to be happy on her own, despite longing for a love that she thought she found. I think this books shows that you can be happy not in a relationship and still have feelings for someone at the same time. She spent her entire adult life up to this point in a relationship so she really learns what it means to be single and on her own for the first time. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because I was 45% of the way through the book before Charley and her family even GET TO ANTIGUA. The title makes it sound like the entire (most of) the book takes place while on the honeymoon, so the fact that I was almost halfway through the book to even get to that point makes me think it would have a number of people putting the book down before it even gets to that point.

The story kicks off at a decent pace but slows significantly down. We spend a lot of time on Charley’s glow up and we don’t meet the MMC until about halfway through the book.

While I really liked the premise of the book, it was slow for me and lacked the story development to drive the emotional responses. There’s a lot of dialogue that happens with no descriptions. I want to know how Charley and Josh and Ed and Mads feel when they’re speaking.

Also worth noting, there’s a few statements about queer people when Charley meets up with her friends that made me cringe.

I’m not going to lie, this book starts out very very slow. Up until almost 50%, we haven’t even gotten to the “honeymoon” referenced in the title or met the love interest. The book was written well, and we see the story through Charlotte’s eyes in first person. If you’re a person that loves spice, this isn’t for you - it’s rated PG mainly - maybe even PG13 just because they reference that they had sex and someone touched a breast, haha!

The story follows Charlotte, who has been with her boyfriend for over 10 years. They met in school, after her boyfriend at the time was cheating on her. They had been inseparable since. Then he started to change; decided to go vegan, and really tried to push his lifestyle on her and choices she should be able to make for herself and her body. On Christmas, he insists that they need to take a break, he’s been cheating, and boom - now she’s basically homeless. She moves in with her parents and works on reinventing and finding herself again. Her parents take her on holiday to the Caribbean, and she meets Ed. He was on one of those marriage reality TV shows where you don’t meet your spouse until after you say the vows - but she never showed. He got to keep the honeymoon promised to him, and they do these events for free to take up their time on holiday and really enjoy themselves.

It’s a sweet and genuine story. Once I finally got to the holiday part, about halfway through, the book started to pick up and I didn’t really want to put it down.

I loved the sound of this book from it’s blurb and it had me intrigued from the very beginning.
The characters were all wonderful and real and down-to-earth and i really loved Mad’s, Charley’s best friend, she was a friend that everyone would love to have!!
This was a wonderful rom-com and such a fun read and the story line was so good!
Someone Else’s Honeymoon was a perfect, funny, heartwarming read and once I had read it, it definitely made my heart happy…….

Okay so I was really digging this book. Loved the vacation/honeymoon aspect with a love story combined. But girl did Charley fall soooo fast. Almost embarrassingly fast and obsessive, which I got over. But the book ended really abruptly for me. It was like okay we reconnected now there's an epilogue. All in all I would read again.

After finding out on Christmas Day that her boyfriend cheated on her, Charley ends up back living with her parents and takes up a chance to go on holiday with them to Antigua, where she meets Ed.

This book was okay, we don't end up meeting Ed to nearly half way through the book and I struggle to feel any real attraction build up between them as well. This could of been due to rushing everything happening between Charley and Ed.

I also feel some of the details aren't exactly needed in the book which I feel could of been cut out for more Ed coverage.

This book is total summer-read vibes! With a stunning destination and all the holiday feels, I totally fell for the romance between Charley and Ed.

Although there wasn’t lashings of plot and drama, this was a really lovely read. I particularly loved the friendship between Mads and Charley and thought it was refreshing that although it is a romance novel, the first half of the book is focused on Charley and her own development.

This was a cute, beachy, summery read that would be a great vacay read by the pool, beach or lake.

I thought the delay in our romance getting started took away some of the excitement for me, but overall this was a quick, fun, light hearted read.

Review:

Charolette has a drab life with her boyfriend of 10 years. On Christmas Day he breaks up with her. While Charley’s packing up her stuff from the flat she finds another woman’s underwear under the bed. Turns out her now ex was sleeping with his co-worker behind her back. Charley takes this as a sign to re-invent herself and update her life. This includes joining her parents on their annual holiday in Antigua. She accidentally steals Ed Wells’ honeymoon daybeds at the beach. However, there is no Mrs. Wells as Ed was left at the alter on a reality show. The rest is their love story.

This book was more of a chick lit story than actual romance. The male protagonist doesn’t show up until half way through. I loved the transformation scenes for Charley but I kept waiting for the romance to start.

It took me a bit to get into this book, but I think that had more to do with life than the writing itself. There was some predictability to this but most romance books are. Do I still devour them and get overly excited when there is a HEA at the end? Of course!
I really enjoyed Charley’s character and her growth. They way she reacted to her heart break was pretty normal and would be how most react. Life refresh and a beautiful vacation? Check. Then came along Ed. And he was the perfect restart to her love life. Or so we think. I wish we could have gone a bit deeper into his character outside of the “show”.
Phoebe did a beautiful job with this story and I loved every minute of it! I would have finished in a day if I didn’t have work getting in the way! I enjoyed her writing and I think this book can be loved by many! Definitely a good summer/beach read!

Highly recommend if you enjoy:
Holiday romance
Strangers to Lovers
HEAs
Good Banter

If you're looking for a quick fun delightful romcom this is it & it's out Tuesday 8/9/22!

Charlotte, Charley, has been with her boyfriend Josh for 10 years. They've been slowly coming apart but when she finds sexy knickers under their bed that aren't hers (on Christmas Day) it's officially over.

She trying to find herself again when her parents (who are the sweetest most amazing fictional parents I think I've ever read about) take her along with them on their yearly February holiday to Antigua.

There she meets Ed and gets to spend one week with him. I don't want to give away his backstory but basically poor Ed was jilted at the alter and now still enjoying his honeymoon solo and invites Charley along for adventures. By the end of their week together enjoying all the islands excursions they've connected and are in love. They both agree to contact one another when they get back home.

But for more complicated reasons they can't connect to each other back home and several months pass and Charley decides to give up on her chance with Ed when her dear friend, Mads, goes out and physically tracks him down for her and it's all history from there.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book before release day.

Thanks NetGalley for my ARC copy!
Someone Else’s Honeymoon gave us a cute rom-com love story between Charley and Ed. Right off the bat, it was super easy to read and enjoyed it! But just as fast, the story started to drag out. I feel like there was too much back story and leading up to the “honeymoon” because that didn’t come until 40% into the book. Once that started, I enjoyed watching the story of Charley and Ed unfold. The story definitely redeemed itself in the second half of the book!
Overall, it was a sweet book but could have changed the timeline to enhance the story.

I loved the premise for this book. I knew it would be a fun one. But the love story didn’t start until literally halfway through the book. I definitely wanted more Ed and Charley’s story with him. But I suppose maybe the intent was for the story to be more about Charley on her own.

The perfect light read! Charlotte broke up with her boyfriend of 10 year at Christmas. She heartbroken and has nowhere to live. Her parents invite her to go on vacation with them where she meets Ed.

I could not put this book down. I loved watching Charlotte develop into herself. There are plenty of laughs in the book too. If you are looking for a lighthearted book with a strong female character, you will love this book.

Someone Else’s Honeymoon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Romance

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: When Charley finds herself suddenly single on Christmas Day it feels like her world has fallen apart. Forced to move back in with her parents, she embarks on a journey of re-invention. When she meets Ed, who is on honeymoon alone after being jilted at the altar by a bride he's never met, it looks like her life may be taking a turn for the better. Fate, however, has other ideas, and she and Ed are forced apart. Will she find her way back to him, or are they just not meant to be?

My Thoughts: I thought this was a cute quick read. This had mixed reviews, so I went in blind and I am glad that I did. The mixed reviews was surprising to me because I thought this was a great cute read. The story is narrated by Charley, from her perspective. The characters were well developed, they had witty banter, there was an instant connection between Charley and Ed, and were creatively written. I immediately connected with Charley and despised Josh. Then story was more than romance, it did not get to the true romance until the halfway mark, the first half of the book is the suddenly becoming single, and building relationships with others. The author’s writing style was complex, intriguing, emotional, and brilliant. The writing was easy to follow and get lost into. This would be a perfect beach read on a summer day. This book publishes Tuesday and I highly recommend picking it up!!

3.5-4

Charley finds out on Christmas her boyfriends of 10 years has been cheating on her. Her friend helps make her over and her parents take her along on a holiday with them. While on her trip she meets Ed, who has been dumped on a reality TV show. They spend the holiday together, but it doesn't end how either of them had hoped.

I read this book in one day. It was fun, fast paced, lighthearted read. I enjoyed the author's writing. The characters were fun and likable. If you are looking for a sweet, cute, clean romance this is a great book.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a great chick-lit. It reminded me of why I fell in love with the genre in the early 2000's with Can You Keep A Secret?
Someone Else's Honeymoon is a fresh, unputtable down story.
