What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas by Julia Donaldson, a NetGalley read. This is the 5th title in the series and it won’t disappoint if your kids have lived the series and love the author. The lady bird is visiting her friend the spider at Christmas however those troublesome fellas Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len are causing trouble again. I have done this review with my daughter who’s 5. I asked her what she thought and she gave it a firm thumbs up! There were giggles from her throughout and loved spotting all the different things in the illustrations throughout the book. There was even a little cheer when things worked out. From my perspective I loved it, we both are huge fans of Julia Donaldson, I loved that the narrative sometimes rhymes, I live the fact that we can sit down together and together share that moment of reading a book, those few moments where it’s just me and my daughter and everything else stops. And that’s the thing about Julia Donaldson books they capture your interest and ignite your imagination. This is a great addition to the Lady Bird series that will surly be a hit with kids and parents. As always the illustrations are just as bigger part to this book as the narrative, there’s lots of things for the kids to spot and point out and to follow the lady bird. This would be a great addition for the kids to read at Christmas and to add to the collection of Julia Donaldson books. I will be recommending this to friends and no doubt so will my daughter. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My 5 year old is a fan of Julia Donaldson and we have read previous books in the Ladybird series together. He enjoyed this latest one, especially because it is set at Christmas. Great illustrations as always with this series.

A wonderful addition to the, ‘What the Ladybird heard’ series of books. This time, the little Ladybird takes us on a festive adventure featuring the familiar faces of Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh as well as a new set of animal characters, my favourite being the Siamese cat! Once again the story features clever rhyming text by Julia Donaldson that is accompanied by bright and lively illustrations from Lydia Monks. What will the Ladybird get up to next?! A fabulous book to add to your Christmas collection.
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Children’s Books for our ARC.

Julia Donaldson can't really do wrong in my eyes so no surprise that I loved the latest version of the ladybird series!

A rhyming book is one I always enjoy reading and I love hearing about Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh's latest hijinks. The bright, colourful illustrations will have little ones captivated and this would make a great addition to any Christmas Eve box to read at bedtime before the big man's visit!
