This is a cute little children's book, which is suitable for babies and toddlers. It is a bright and colourful book, with lovely illustrations showing animal characters learning their shapes. There are peep through holes in the book which encourage sensory development. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

This Little Mouse Lessons book belongs in a book bundle. These are a necessity in all children's rooms to help them start learning as they grow. This one in particular teaches children about the different shapes.

Die-cut holes reveal fun details in this delightful series on concepts. Little Mouse and his friends demonstrate the concept within a story. For example, in Numbers, the text encourages the reader to count how many mice are needed to eat a large cheese. Only the numeral is shown, not the word for the numbers 1 through 5, making this better for toddlers than emergent readers. In Shapes, the setting is a mouse birthday party. For the younger crowd, this is very effective and fun, using bright saturated colors and cute mice.

This simple book for toddlers includes a variety of simple shapes you can find around a house or at a birthday party, such as squares (presents) and circles (balloons). The colourful illustrations are mainly made of primary colours and the large, simple text is easy to read and predict. This would be a great book to introduce colours and shapes and even the concepts of holding a book and listening to reading to very young children. I would recommend this book to parents of children in the infant to preschool range. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!

I was granted eARC access to Shapes by Mike Henson through the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

A pair of mice paint explore the basic shapes around them in their home. It's cute, it's short, and it looks like a lot of fun to present to a 1-3 year old child. This book is extremely short and will definitely not lose the interest of most kids before it ends.

My brother absolutely adored this book! He loved the colors book and so I absolutely had to get him the shapes one as well! He loved it! Although he already knows his shapes, it didn’t stop him from adoring the illustrations that this book had provided. I re-read this book over and over again and kept smiling as he read it! I would absolutely purchase more for him because he loves to read and he loves cute illustrations even more! Highly recommend!

My nearly 4 year old has additional needs and couldn't be less interested in books if he tried but because of how short this book was, and how brightly coloured it was I managed to engage his attention enough for him to listen.
My son knows all his shapes, so found this interesting as it was something he could interact with properly and knew all the answers.

Cute simple and colorful. What more can you ask for? As a teacher, this great story would be a valuable resource for young readers. Thank you to NetGalley for the arc.

My 4-year-old is a bit old for learning shapes and colours but she loves die cut picture books so she wanted to check this book out. We have already read Mike Henson's other books, and she loved them too (especially Broccoli's Big Day).

It's not easy to review a peep-through book without holding it in your hand, but you get the idea. The characters are cute, and there are not too much text.

Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group / Frances Lincoln Children's Book for an Advance Review Copy.

Shapes is a great book for young children learning their shapes. I liked the mouse illustrations and the brightness of them.

Too young-pitched for this to be a book, it's a tool for getting tiny hands used to the feel of holding books. And it's a perfectly pleasant one, as one mouse gives a present to another, and the narrative allows us to learn the names of shapes along the way. Throughout, small peep-holes through the board pages tease the young audience about what we're seeing – is that a balloon, or a hat, or something else further down the line? One of four in a small range that appears on this evidence to be a successful one.
