What a wonderful gem of a book to help anyone regain a sense of peace, trust and calmness by reconnecting with nature. The 20 different practices are easy to do and can be done all year long. I love this and highly recommend it!

Being in Nature: 20 Practices To Help You Flourish by James Farrell & Lee Evans is a great read for those who are seeking inspiration and directives in nourishing one's relationship with nature. Through twenty organized chapters, the reader accesses various exercises, gorgeous illustrations, prompts, facts about biodiversity and more. The book also shares explanations as to how these principles take root in oneself.

Many of us have heard in life that nature is restorative and a great outlet to restore mental health, however, few of us know the intricacies of how this intersection manifests. Meditations, mindfulness, and thought-provoking questions are centered in themes of each season, guiding readers to formulate inwardness and thoughtfulness in how we communicate these relationships.

Historical influences and cultural celebrations are highlighted throughout which is a great way to learn about how different peoples of the world interact with the land.

Keeping in mind that different hemispheres celebrate different seasons at different times of year, it is a smart move to not note the months of the year. However, I’d love to learn a bit more about how different seasons take shape in different parts of the world—- flora and fauna vary greatly depending. Perspective shifts are encouraged.

The organization seems a bit random. There is some recycling/redundancy of text, but maybe the author predicts the reader will jump around in lieu of reading front to back.

Love the “Protecting what we love” section about biodiversity and call for individual action.

A simple guide to recognising the potential that nature has in providing us with peace and calm in a hectic world .
A series of steps to reducing anxieties in modern times with clear guidance of activities and the potential benefits to mental health and well being. Beautifully illustrated which adds to the calm. Not too wordy and a book I would buy for a friend who just needed that simple nudge to recognise that the beauty of nature and life away from the smart phone and technology can ultimately bring so much to our individual health and view of life .

Being in Nature is a simple yet effective guide to practicing mindfulness outdoors. Farrell and Evans takes us through each season and teaches us ways we can connect with and appreciate nature. The colorful illustrations were a great touch.

There were certain areas where the practices felt a bit repetitive, but it’s still a great guide that inspires new ways to see and appreciate our planet. If you’re looking for ways to be more present and connect with nature, I would recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Nature Connection Books for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this little gem of a book and will be giving it as a gift to people I care about.

It’s a simple guide to connecting with the healing power of, and joy, within nature.

The illustrations are simple and soothing.

A great tool for parents, therapists, teachers and all who want to spread the word on how important nature is to our wellbeing.

Activists - this book is a gentle call to increase your ranks amongst those not yet engaged in sustainability.
