I went into this having read a few of the authors precious books so had high hopes and this didn't disappoint! It's a perfect beach read, it doesn't take too much thinking and is so well written that you feel like you are actually there with the sun beating down on you. Its quite a slow burn and very character driven so don't expect dramatic events at every turn but I still enjoyed it. The characters didn't inspire much in me but the tension was so well built and I loved the little insights you get from the various characters that all led up to that big reveal. I do feel a bit unsatisfied about the ending but I can say why I feel like that lol. I just have a few questions I'd have liked answered but I much prefer that kind of ending in a book than one that feels forced and has stupid things happen just to make sure all the lose ends are tied up.

I was super excited when I saw that Heidi Perks had a new book coming out as I have read all of her other books. I have to say it did not disappoint and it was so good, I could not put it down and read it in one sitting!

Laila and her husband James are holidaying in an exclusive resort on the Greek island of Ixos. After another failed IVF treatment, James wants them to have some time together to rekindle their love for one another. Laila is still hurting though and spends her days obsessively watching other people at the resort and in particular a young couple on their honeymoon and a family of four. When there is a tragic incident at the resort, Laila finds herself questioning everything.

Another great book by Heidi Perks. I loved the suspense that this book created. Only finding out what truly happened right at the end meant that this book had me hooked.

The story centres around a lady who goes on holiday to a luxury resort with her husband in a bit of a last ditch effort to save her marriage. She has been obsessed with having a baby and her husband has decided he can not go through IVF again. Whilst on holiday she becomes obsessed with a family and especially the mother who she thinks has everything. One night a terrible incident happens to the family and the future is changed for everyone.
I enjoyed the book but felt it lost a bit of steam at the end and the ending was a bit disappointing for me.

I really enjoyed this book and loved the short chapters which told the story from the characters’ different viewpoints. It was well paced and well written. The characters developed as the story progressed and I found it gripping, eagerly wanting to know who the culprit was. I wasn’t disappointed and I can thoroughly recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.

Thank you for NetGalley for providing me with this book for review. Heidi Perks is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. This one takes its time to reveal itself, whilst giving you lots of detail about the surroundings, you almost feel like you are there at the hotel.

This book held promise of a lovely summer holiday in luxury hotel. However, as usual, things did not go according to plan and there were some horrible situations to deal with.
Not one of the characters created any interest with me, they were all very shallow and obsessive.
Shame I thought it would have been better.

Good suspenseful novel with plenty of twists and turns. Set on a beautiful island near Greece a luxury hotel waits for Laila and her husband, who are trying to reconnect after many failed rounds of IVF.

Laila is a people watcher and naturally looks at mothers as she wants to be one. When a teenager buy is found dead in the pool everyone seems to be hiding something.

Highly recommend as a good holiday thriller.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Laila, holidaying with her husband at an exclusive resort on a small Greek island, becomes fascinated by a family - mother, father and teenage sons - who are also staying there. When a guest is found dead, though, suddenly the police are asking awkward questions, and secrets are about to come out. And why is Laila's husband James suddenly acting so strangely?

The setting was enticing, but somehow the book never really managed to grab me and I couldn't engage with any of the characters or find myself caring that much about the story. In fact a couple of days after reading it, I can barely remember what turned out to have happened in the end. I feel like I should have liked Laila - I didn't dislike her, although her obsession with the other family is a bit weird (personally I'd rather spend my time reading on a sun lounger rather than stalking other guests, but I appreciate some people do relish people-watching), but nor did I find her particularly interesting.

I read an advance copy (for which many thanks) and the book does need a good editing in places - lines like "the solution to her son's murder is not going to be found within these four walls as to why her son is dead" hopefully won't make it into the published version!!

Perhaps I was just not in the right mood. I did find it dragged on a bit, but I'm sure many people will really enjoy it.

An interesting read, slipping between Leila and Em and their ily relationship's. A bit of a who done it that in my opinion falls a little flat. The ending is quite weak.

This is my first Heidi Perks, and now I'm desperate to dig into her backlist! I love a slow burn thriller set in a glamorous location, so I was hooked on the pitch - I also love a perspective switch that turns our assumptions on our head, and Perks nailed that with this novel. I also thought the psychology behind her writing of Laila was spot on. Perfect holiday read!

My next read was by an author I have read books by before and who always keeps me intrigued so moved this up the to be read list when was approved for an advanced readers copy.

'The Other Guest' by Heidi Perks introduces us to couple Laila and James who have travelled to a luxury resort hotel in Greece. With their marriage on the rocks this holiday is an attempt for them to rekindle their relationship and resolve issues affecting them to allow them to move on to their future together. Lying by the pool Laila finds it hard to not people watch at the other hotel guests and imagine what they are going through in their lives, five days later all the guests lives change forever after a tragic discovery of a body in the swimming pool...

All of Heidi's books build you up from the very beginning, the suspense growing and growing as the characters are described, you will find yourself gathering the clues from each conversation and the interlinking points of view from the different characters also help you to get the angle from both sides of the story. Even at the very end you are still wondering if that is just that, is it actually the end or were secrets still left uncovered?

Another full of suspense thriller from Heidi Perks that is a perfect holiday read - although it might make you want to pay extra attention to the other hotel guests around you!

I really enjoyed this novel - a murder mystery but a bit more complex than your usual 'who dunnit'. The characters were well done and as a reader I was constantly questioning their motives. I hadn't worked it out which added to the suspense.

I usually love Heidi's books. But I just couldn't get into this one. I really hope that it was just me and the time that I read it. And I hope other people love it. Because this author is usually amazing.

Whilst I would say this is more of a ‘who done it’ then a thriller I still enjoyed the read. Theres a few little twists in it which are always fun. The book held my attention and the writing itself was good. Definitely a good summer read!

The Other Guest kept me guessing with it's many twists and turns. Unfortunately I was also often confused by the change in the timeliness and narrator. Overall though I was intrigued and entertained.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my early copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers, Random House UK for this ARC.

This is not the first Heidi Perks book that I have read, however, having enjoyed her previous work, have found this one lacking. It’s not new ground, the plot/storyline unoriginal and the characters forgettable. So sorry - this perhaps just me, but I did not think much of this book.

A couple struggling in their marriage after many unsuccessful attempts at IVF, travel on a luxury holiday in an attempt to save their relationship. Whilst there another gust is found dead. This is the story of how the lives of the various people in the resort play out with regard to the tragedy.
Well written and keeps you wondering,

Another great read from Heidi. A story about lack of communication, trust and an easy summer read. Does what it says on the tin although a little lightweight. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC.
