King Josef has been a recluse for the past 5 years after the death of his wife. His sons have decided he need a PR restyle and have employed PR guru Rowan to find him a girlfriend and improve his image! There is chemistry between the pair and Rowan is not just a yes woman, and will not allow him to stagnate. Will Josef let go of the past in order to gain his HEA?
Not my favourite novel by this author but it is a different type of storyline. I enjoyed the premise of the book but not the setting.
I read this ARC for an honest review

Modern day fairytale romance
I enjoyed the mix of romance and humour - well written characters and storytelling
I would like to thank Netgalley, Mills and Boon and Susan Meier for the E ARC of this book.
King Jozef has it all, or does he? He has been a recluse for the past five years since the passing of his wife, but his son’s and the palace realise that the people of their country are worried about their king. To try and encourage him to make more public appearances they hire Rowan – a PR expert to help. At first the king is reluctant but agrees to Rowan’s suggestions.
The more time they spend together the more the spark between them grows. Can they be together, will protocol allow it?
I liked Jozef and Rowan as characters, it was an interesting plot with a sweet romance.
His Majesty's Forbidden Fling is a modern-day fairytale romantic story set in a fantasy island kingdom in the Mediterranean with a good mix of humour and simmering passion. It's a contemporary Cinderella-style story with a widowed King and a dedicated and successful public relations professional.
The setting is pure fantasy, but the constraints faced by a Royal are believable and add conflict to Jozef and Rowan's romance. Rowan's self-esteem and trust issues provide internal barriers. It's an enjoyable romantic comedy.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
A widowed king needs a PR makeover and Rowan is the best. She is feisty, real and puts on no airs and graces. She has a great time doing her job and falling for the king. We follow her as she honestly comes to terms with how she is feeling and what her limits are. Both Rowan and Jozef have baggage and we help them unpack it.
I am so fed up with strange and unreal European monarchies on islands in the Mediterranean. If authors want to set their books in this kind of imaginary setting, at least do some research so that the fantasy world has a modicum of reality attached to it. Be aware of the geography, climate, and cultural differences likely to be found.
The entire setup for this story lacked any credibility to me. The way the heroine walked in on the King at the theatre? - her behaviour? The way she spoke to him? Seriously, she came across as a truly ignorant hick, not a professional PR person. She was nosy, invasive, insensitive, and totally unbelievable. That King Josef would actually fall in love with this moron just left me laughing in disbelief. The way Josef allowed himself to be bullied by virtually everyone around him turned him into a total wimp.
The author can write well. The basic premise was interesting, and I was expecting a really delicious story but sadly the execution was disappointing.
This was a complimentary ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review. Sorry, not my cup of tea.
