This book was very disappointing it seemed like a wanna be soap opera. Characters seemed very unrealistic and hard to follow who is who because everyone was so alike.
If it looks too perfect it usually is, that goes for the perfect wealthy communities so many people covet a home in. This neighborhood certainly has its secrets which come to the light in the wake of a child’s disappearance and the finger pointing that ensues. A read that had me on the edge of my seat until the end!
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Yikes, good read! can't get enough of the crazy neighbor books after living next to one and finally escaping it! I swear my life is like some of these books!
In the wealthy suburb of Oak Hill everyone is in everyone’s business. So when actress and model Allison Langley and her former rock star husband Christopher appear perfect, nothing gets the gossip going when , Allison leaves in the middle of the night and Chris is shocked and doesn’t know where she’s gone. The neighbors can’t seem to stop picking apart what they thought was the perfect couple. When five year old Billy goes missing on his way home from the bus stop , and his babysitter Cassidy was late to get him, and his mom Rachel who is a real estate agent gets blamed by the other moms who are are stay at home mom on letting him walk home alone, unknown to them Rachel was bullied by Ted her husband for being a helicopter parent sho she didn’t have a say about him walking g home who would take Billy? Where was Cassidy really and why was she late? Soon another little girl goes missing three weeks later, and the whole town is in a panic and the pressure is on the police to find the children. Whose taking the children how many secrets are being kept in this “perfect neighborhood” what truly happens behind closed doors?
Wow! What did I just read? This book left my head spinning. I would have never guessed where the ending would have led us. There was a lot going on in this book, kidnappings, affairs, gossiping…qualities you would never want in your “perfect neighborhood”! There were so many things happening in this book that it was almost impossible for me to put the book down because I wanted to know how it was going to end.
I’d you love a good thriller I would say grab The Perfect Neighborhood!
I thought it was solid. I don't think I'll remember this one for long but it was captivating while I read it, and a very quick read. Pretty good.
This is the perfect thriller if you don’t want to be terrified. I love a good thriller but have become a little sensitive (especially when reading alone) so I have to be picky. This one was perfect. I was never SCARED but always on the edge of my seat and guessing what was going to happen
This is my first book by Liz Alterman and I think I have been missing out. Reading this book was a bit like watching an episode of 48 Hours at times. A crime has been committed. Who is the culprit? The babysitter? The entitled half brother with some bad habits? What about that misunderstood vet who seems to have too much time on his hands? There are some clever red herrings and some crafty clues dropped here and there. I found this to be a compelling page-turner.
The Perfect Neighborhood.....of course it's not! I'm not a parent nor suburban mom and this plot of this book is my ultimate nightmare if I had kids. Well written and suspenseful. Different POVs is awesome, although confusing for some reason when I first started. It got better though and I didn't have any issues once I got a few chapters in. I also didn't guess the end! WINNER!!
This is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book
This was an interesting read and I found some similarities with another book from a different author. An easy read in one sitting for me.
I really enjoyed this book. Loved the authors writing style. This book would be good for people who enjoy mysteries with neighborhood drama.
Absolutely amazing read! Such a captivating read! Amazing cover art that was super eye catching would definitely recommend to all!
A brilliant read
Plenty of twist and turns
And plenty of secrets
It will definitely keep you guessing
Thanks NetGalley
I really enjoyed this book. Excellent read with great characters and a really good storyline. I would recommend this book.
The Perfect Neighborhood is a well-written, gripping mystery. Fun to read, intimate and gossipy, lots of twists.
I read this on holiday and it was a perfect holiday read - but it's better than that sounds. It's actually got more depth than your average beach read. It's well structured, the characters stand out and the dialogue is good. It's not groundbreaking, but it does what it says on the tin, better than most.
Recommended if you're looking for a decent twisty mystery.
The Perfect Neighborhood is a fun psychological thriller set in a gossipy town a la Housewives, but add in a missing child and plenty of secrets. If you enjoy thrillers with plenty of twists, this is the one for you! It reminded me of Desperate Housewives and I just ate it up. Highly recommended! This novel introduces us to Actor Allison Langley and her former rock star husband, Chris. The couple decides to leave their fast-paced New York lifestyle to move to Oak Hill, NJ in the hopes of raising a family. Allison shockingly leaves her husband Christopher in the middle of the night and goes into hiding. Next, a five year old boy, Billy Barnes disappears as he is walking home from school alone. A second child disappears under the watch of a teenage babysitter, distracted by an inappropriate relationship. This is a thought-provoking psychological suspense novel that is riveting as this "picture-perfect' image of the community dissolves as suspicions arise and tensions build as everyone is considered a suspect. This is a novel you won't be able to put down. Highly recommend this book.
I picked this book at random, not expecting to love it so much. The development of all the characters, in their perfect world that is seemingly not so perfect after all, was exquisite. I loved the ending, also.
