I looooved this book. It was fast paced and kept me hooked the entire time. I spent the entire book trying to piece clues together, and was still shocked by the twist! Love, love, love!
This book was a page turner from beginning to end. A perfect family leaves a perfect neighborhood in the middle of the night and the town goes abuzz. Then a child goes missing on a babysitters watch. Flash forward to a while later and a family gives that baby sitter a second chance. And it happens again. Coincidence? Or is babysitter really to blame? I gotta tell you. I did not see this ending coming AT ALL. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A slow start I’m sure some people wouldn’t make it through. A twisty if slightly stereotypical read if you can. Some characters seemed underdeveloped - not sure if I’d recommend
It started slow and I really wasn't sure if I was going to finish it, let alone enjoy it but I kept going and i'm so glad I did. It picked up massively and became a thrilling read. Full of drama, secrets, missing children, twists and turns.
I would have liked the former rockstar and actress element played up a bit more, as they were such minor celebrities it felt a bit like a detail that wasn't necessary.
Overall, a great read (if you push past the first few chapters), and full of enough mystery and dodgy characters that I didn't see the ending coming. For me that is a massive win.
In the Oak Hill neighborhood, gossip always abounds.
Allison and Christopher Langley have split up. Allison is an actress with lots of experience doing commercials and Christopher is a washed-up rock star. Allison left him in the middle of the night and she is staying with a friend.
Rachel Barnes is mother to 5-year-old, Billy. He’s a curious little kindergartner. Rachel has just returned to her job as a real estate agent. Rachel has allowed Billy to walk by himself several blocks to his home after school. That is where his babysitter, Cassidy, meets him and takes care of him until Rachel gets home. But, today his sitter is late meeting Billy and he has disappeared. Frantic, the family, neighbors, and police begin a search for him. What happened to this child?
As the neighbors gossip about who could have taken Billy, Rachel is beside herself with worry about Billy. Who has her son? But then another child goes missing while under the care of Cassidy, the neighborhood erupts along with the press. Is this the same person that took Billy? Could Cassidy have done something to these children? Where are they?
This story switches back and forth from different neighbors in this community. There are secrets and discord in lots of the marriages. I found the police investigations to be lax and shameful. Poor, silly Cassidy. I rather liked Cassidy’s friend, Lexi and Allison’s friend, Vivienne. They were real friends. This story had me guessing right up to the end. I’m betting lots of people will enjoy it.

This book was very much giving Desperate Housewives and I loved it! This book is a great domestic thriller/neighborhood mystery so if that is up your alley, I definitely recommended giving this a try! It really picked up about halfway through, and I loved the multiple POVs throughout as well. When everything starts coming together you can sort of piece together what the ending might be, but still a very fun read! Thank you Legend Press and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book!
this was a pretty fun read although it took me a minute to get into it. it follows some of my favorite tropes - a missing child in a neighborhood full of rich suburban families. i’ve read a couple other books like this recently and i always have a fun time as they’re usually fast paced and easy to get through, this one was no exception but i do believe it was ultimately pretty forgettable…check out The Lying Club or The Night She Went Missing for similar vibes
Oak Hill appears to be the perfect neighbourhood - until a woman leaves her husband in the middle of the night, and then children begin to go missing from the streets.
Liz Alterman tells a captivating tale through the eyes of several Oak Hill women, at a pace that keeps you turning the pages to find out more. This was a fast-paced, suspenseful read with many twists and turns along the way. The characters were well-written and most felt realistic, which is impressive when writing from multiple POVs, and the mystery was perfectly mixed with the secrets and gossip of the neighourhood, which all tied in to the main plot. The writing was engaging, although occasionally seemed to state the obvious rather than letting readers draw their own conclusions, which could have added to the mystery. Overall, a quick and engaging read which will keep you entertained.
This book was nothing short of awesome! It was thrilling and captivating, and it kept me hooked the whole time!

This was just not the book for me. I had a hard time keeping all of the characters straight. I could never get into the story and it just fell flat. I hate to DNF books but I finally had to put this one aside.
Thank you Legend Press and Netgalley for this sneak peek! Publication date is July 12, 2022.
I liked this book. It was a really good mystery and I thought the author did a good job handling all the different viewpoints. It took a bit for me to get all the characters straight when it switched points of view but overall I liked it.
This book was a great first release. I enjoyed the story, even if I figured out the twist. When I was first reading I was a little upset about the boy going missing. As a teacher, I do not really enjoy story lines like this but I kept reading and enjoyed the book.
Exciting book to read. Great plot to get yourself lost in. This book has everything. A real fast paced thriller. Will get your heart racing on more than one occasion. Very well written. Highly recommend this book

You never know who you can trust! Even a person you love can turn out to be a monster! I really enjoyed this book and the story line to it however I wish there was a major twist at the end I felt like that would of gave it a stronger finish.

Perfect neighbourhood when a child got lost, gossips and rich family gather together to find the missing child. Somebody knows something.
Great suspense, but only focusing on one area. I guest self explanatory for the title, not quite a thriller and you can tell what will happen to the end . Doesn’t give me any chills especially when I’m a avid fan of super thriller/mystery genre .
Easy read, great for someone who’s staring the genre. Fast paced

Oak Hill seems like the perfect suburban neighbourhood but then one night, Allison Langley leaves her famous husband in the middle of the night, causing the gossip to begin. While she is the talk of the town, it doesn't last long as soon after little five year old Billy Barnes disappears on his way home from school, followed by three year old, Amy-Pat Davis.
Oh the suspense and mystery! This was an intriguing domestic suspense with plenty of action and as the lies and secrets surface, we begin to get a clearer picture of the residents. While I did guess part of the mystery, it wasn't until later and it was an enjoyable novel. I look forward to more by this author.
Who wouldn’t want to live in the perfect neighborhood? Even a celebrity couple moved here! The gossip around the neighborhood is what is going on with the celebrity couple when not one but two kids go missing.
This book truly had me hooked from the start. I was able to read it so fast because I wanted to know what happened and how all of the POVs were connected. I thought this book was well written and definitely keeps you hooked. The more you get to know the characters the better you’re able to piece together what actually happened. How do two kids go missing in this perfect neighborhood? Did a family member do it, the babysitter, a neighbor, or was it a random attack? How well do you know your neighbors?
Loved this story. It was full of movement and the story never stayed in one place long. Keeps you interest and you kind of don’t want it to end.
When actress and model Allison Langley leaves her former rockstar husband, Christopher, in the middle of the night, it’s all her Oak Hill neighbors can talk about. The gossip comes to an abrupt halt when five-year-old Billy Barnes goes missing on his walk home from kindergarten.
Billy’s mother, Rachel, blames herself for being at work and letting her only child walk alone. Cassidy, Billy’s teenage babysitter, was also late to arrive on the afternoon he disappeared and blames herself for his disappearance.
As the clock ticks down, police are unable to find any trace of Billy, forcing Rachel to ponder the enemies she’s made in their well-off suburb. Could it be one of her neighbors who stole her son? Would they abduct Billy to hurt her? How easy would it be to take a child while the parents or nannies are distracted?
When another child goes missing, the town is put under a microscope as the police try to get to the bottom of the disappearances. Will they be able to find the two children, or will it be too late? What secrets lie at the heart of this tragedy, and how far will one go to keep those dangerous secrets buried?
This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.
I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Legend Press for the ARC!
Gossip thrives in Oak Hill, an upper-class suburb in New Jersey. The biggest news - Allison Langley leaves her famous husband in the middle of the night. Why did she leave? Why 4 a.m. with no suitcase? This gossip comes to a halt when Billy Barnes goes missing on his walk home from school. His mom, Rachel, feels guilty but also starts to wonder if there's a darker secret hidden in the neighborhood.
Ohhh, I love a good book where things aren't as they seem. I also love a book with multiple points of view. This was a fun read and kept me entertained throughout the story. Definitely going to keep an eye out for Liz's future books!
