A chunky read which was initially difficult to get through, but once you get the hang of the writing style, a great read.
Katie Flynn is a fantastic author and has a clear talent. This story will take you on a journey of heartbreak, joy, secrets and discovery.
I enjoyed thisbook but I did find it slow at the beginning I glad I stey with it a good plot I liked the characters nice to read about old ones I know from her other books a nice historical story with a nice romantic as well I like her style of writing keeps you wanting more a good book
Although the story lacks , what I believe to be historically correct with the ease of making phone calls and some of the slang, overall this is a story of friendship and love during WWII.
A very pleasant read.
Another great book and well written.
We continue to see what happens in Cadi’s life she joins the WAAF and makes new friends. Cadi is such an organised person and does well in the WAAF. Jez and her seem to be at odds with each other with secrets will they overcome these.
A very enjoyable read look forward to the the next book in the series.
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
Historical drama ,follow on from the Rose Queen. Interesting characters ,great to follow them through all their ups and downs..Friendships,secrets and lies.
I always enjoy picking up a Katie Flynn book- you are guaranteed a warm, good read.
Cadi joins the WAAF and makes friends and settles into her new role well. The book explores the war roles for women, the homelife and bombing causing housing issues, friendships made and strengthened and the issues many people faced.
I will definetely read more in this series.
This is a follow on book based in Liverpool where it is now 1941 and war is affecting everyday life. Cadi decides to join the WAAF to help the war effort, And hopes to be posted nearer to her beau. But will she be able to keep her romance alive when he is posted further away.
As usual I will not retell the plot as I believe others do a better job of it. This is a usual Katie Flynn novel with all the historical drama and romance. It amazes me how many new situations and stories Katie can come up with for her books!

This book is the follow up to The Rose Queen, it is best to read this book first or the story will not flow as well.
The four friends have followed their own paths but have stayed in touch. Jez has joined the RAF and Poppy and Izzy have joined the Waaf, leaving Cadi behind in Liverpool helping out in the new hotel with Maria. Cadi has also signed up and is waiting for her papers to go and join the WAAF.
The story follows the relationship between Cadi and Jez and if they will overcome separation in war time and interference from others, who are determined to split them up, to get revenge. Izzy has to deal with information she finds out about her parents, after escaping her violent father in the first book.
They make more friends along the way and the story twists and turns, but it was the most enjoyable book and I would still like Katie to write another book with these characters in as I feel there are more tales to be told. I would definitely recommend this book but read The Rose Queen first if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed
I have read several of Katie Flynn books this book is an enjoyable read and keeps the reader interested in the characters protrayed. Thankyou for advanced copy.
Amazing book, loved everything about it. The best story I’ve ever read, absolutely amazing. Would recommend to read it if you haven’t already
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read and review this book.
I'm a great fan of Katie Flynn and having read the 1st book with these characters was looking forward to the 2nd instalment! I really enjoyed this latest ...... after reading more than 45% that is!!
Was very slow to start and can understand that new readers need to be brought up to speed but was a little too long winded. Rest of the book was as expected and was very enjoyable, with all the usual twists and turns of true love never running smoothly!
I hope there will be a 3rd book in the offing and look forward to reading it when released.
Another lovely book from Katie Flynn.
Katie Flynn writes such beautiful books with just the right amount of violence and warmth. Her characters are interesting and many likable. She describes the surrounding area so well that you feel as though you are almost there.
I really enjoyed immersing myself in this book and look forward to the next one taking me on another journey.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this excellent book. xx
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion.
I had read the first book in the series and understand there will be a third - hooray. It is possible to read this book as a standalone novel but it is easier to put into context if you have read the first one in the series.
Having said that it was lovely to meet the old characters and some new ones who were friends of Cadi's as she joined the WAAF.
There were misunderstandings between Cadi and her fiance Jez, and an old friend of Cadi from her childhood in Wales, this was first met in the first book but as they say 'Alls well that ends well'
It was a lovely book and easy to read - I read most whilst waiting for my daughter at a long hospital appointment - but was so near the end when I got home I just had to know what happened.
I look forward to the third book in the series.
Thank you again to those involved
Yet again Katie flynn has exceeded my expectations with her writing. Set in the world war she writes about the whole experience of living. I can't wait for another book from her.
Another great novel from Katie Flynn, she gets better each time she writes. Set in WW2, and gives us everything that happens during that time. Wonderful book, well worth reading 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
A fantastic book with the continuing saga focusing on Cadi her friends and family. It’s good to read The Rose Queen first to introduce yourself to the main characters. Whilst the book covers several seasons the climax concludes in winter. My only negative comment is that the chapters need to be sit shorter. Thanks to Katie Flynn and her publisher. Also thanks to NetGalley.
1941 WW2 Liverpool.
Cadi Williams nightmares have returned of the almighty explosion at the greyhound public house. Now staying and working with Maria and Bill Shankley at the B&B in Derby Road her troubled sleep worries her as she applies to join the WAAF with Jez in the RAF she maybe a bit closer to him so they can see more of each other she misses him so much.
This book has stolen my heart, it's such a lovely heart warming read that will need tissues as you read emotional chapters. I loved every moment curled up in my favourite seat. just beautiful from the author her books never let me down.
