This is already going to be a new favorite in our house. We have been working on selflessness and learning to apologize sincerely and being a good sibling and friend and this book touches on each of these topics so well!

When Badger is wrapped up in their morning breakfast of blueberries, they may have accidentally ate their friend, Dog’s, ball! But it was an accident! So Badger learns to say sorry and make it up to Dog even if they never meant to do it.

But what’s fun in this book, is realizing that maybe Badger didn’t do it and then we flipped back through the pages to track the blue ball! Such a hit!

Blue Badger and The Big Breakfast is a silly read about a badger that truly loves eating his blueberries, it’s his favorite! Badger is so focused on eating his blueberries that he is too busy to play with his friends. Badger soon realizes the importance of not being too busy for a friend.

The Jon Klassen vibes are here & we are HERE FOR IT. This book about a blueberry eating badger & his dog friend who’s searching for a lost toy is a perfect book that you want to read over and over again, just as much as your kids. We’re big fans of dry humor & we all (minus my husband who clearly pays attention) missed the many clues throughout the pages, which made it that much more fun when we decided to read it again! We will definitely be purchasing for our home & requesting our library to add it to their collection too!

A delightful story where children will quickly see what really happened to the blue ball much before most adults! The witty humor makes it a fun book to read over and over and the children are delighted to find what else is going on on each page.

I liked this a lot more than the first book! It has a perfect combo of a nice story and some light chaos! Gave me very Jon Klassen vibes tbh, especially with the ending! This also has a much more of a clear story than the previous one!

Blue Badger and the Big Breakfast was a delightful read for younger children and their parents alike.

Blue Badger discovers a plethora of his favorite food (blueberries!) he puts all other plans aside in order to eat and eat and eat. When Dog runs by looking for his favorite (blue) ball, Badger worries that he may have eaten it by mistake.

I enjoyed the story and the illustrations quite a lot and look forward to purchasing this one for my nephew, who loves all things blue."

In this story Badger stops eating his breakfast of blueberries to help his friend Dog find his ball. This book was hilarious! This is a story about friendship and problem solving which focuses on the color blue. My child had to go back and look at the pictures again after getting to the end of the story just to see the details of how everything happened. I adored the first book in this series so much and wondered if I would like this one as much. I didn't. I LOVED it so much more. ;-)

Badger has blueberries for breakfast. Lots and lots of blueberries. Which Badger is sure he needs to eat all of. He's so busy eating all them in fact, he doesn't even have time for his friends, even to help Dog [his bestie] look for something he has lost [and is deeply sad about].
When Badger finally comes up for air, he makes a startling discovery and has to go and make things right.

A perfect book about friendship and making things right when you've done something wrong [even unintentionally] and the grace to accept and forgive.
This was absolutely delightful and the illustrations are just fantastic and fun and colorful and really add to the story. I loved it so much.

Although the illustrations were beautiful this book seemed to be a little disorganized. I didn’t feel like the message was clear.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Badger might be blue, but he is feeling great until he notices Dog is upset. How can Badger help Dog feel better?

Badgers spirits are high and he's looking forward to eating many blueberries one sunny morning. As he's savoring each bite of the delicious berries, his favorite, he discovers dog is sad. Dog has lost his ball. Badger wants to help but could he be part of the problem?

Delightful children's book that will have readers laughing out loud! Lots of opportunities for children to make inferences throughout this story.

This colourful and quirky children's book tells the story of Blue Badger and his excessively long breakfast consisting solely of blueberries (and maybe a ball?). The story is easy to follow and the images are really neat to look at and aid in the telling of the story. The font is clean and easy to read even though it is imposed on coloured backgrounds. The bright colours of the pages contrasted with the black and white characters (badger, owl, skunk etc) adds to the beauty of the text as a whole. I would recommend this book to parents of children in the age 3-7 range. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!

A sweet story of a very hungry bear and a dog looking for his ball. The illustrations are adorable. While the story is simple I am not sure it would work in my classroom. There seems to be a lot of advice about friendship, and while good, it is just kind of all thrown in one paragraph. I would say more of a fun read aloud, than one to incorporate into a lesson.

This story is about a blue badger that finds it more important to eat, than help his sad friend Dog. It turns out that there is a possibility that badger has eaten dogs ball and therefore Badger apologises. and they play together with the left over blueberries and both animals get very messy. I’m really sorry, I cant even try to make this sounds more exciting than this. I didn't really like the story, I can not see what the moral of the story really was. at least not better than that other books out there do, in a lot more engaging and exciting ways. The illustrations are nice, very simple and clear looking, just not very memorable.

This is the second book in this series. In this story Badger is having breakfast and he ends up eating something that has should not eat, in the meanwhile his friend Dog is sad because he can’t find something he is looking for… are they 2 events connected?

I loved the illustrations and the story was very cute and witty. My son noticed the ball in the first illustration and kept asking “did he eat it?” Ahaha it was very fun!

This story made me giggle a couple times. Badger loves blueberries and decides to have some for breakfast. On his breakfast adventure he realizes his friend Dog’s ball is missing. After realizing that maybe he has eaten the ball Badger tries to find a way to make it up to Dog. This story of friendship reminds us that we all make mistakes sometimes, but it’s our actuations after that matter.

Two Things I loved about Blue Badger and the Big Breakfast by Huw Lewis Jones:
- The calming blue colour palette that ties together the literal objects of the story (the blueberries, the blue ball, Blue Badger...) and the emotions (dog feeing sad, badger feeling worried, everything being resolved calmly at the end).
- The simplicity of the story, helping children to understand the value of caring for our friends and that, even when the solution to out trouble isn't quite what we were expecting, everything will be ok in the end.

Personally, I found the book lacked that extra pinch of something special that makes me want to read it again and get it in to the hands of my students. Both the illustrations and the story structure reminded me of Jon Klasson's books which is perhaps why, with such a hefty comparison in my mind, this book didn't feel as finessed. Nonetheless this gentle, fun vibe will be sure to please young readers.

I love children's books for their pure innocence and appeal. This one was no different. Glad the badger had a big breakfast cos breakfasts are important. Any story with a surprise dog in it is 5 stars for me automatically.
